FN Construction

My update to a previous review posted in August 2017 for FN Construction. Chris and crew remodeled our two bathrooms about three and a half years ago (see review below) and today I’m posting an update about the quality of the work performed, issues with the design, and maintenance problems. Well I'm happy, no ‘happy’ is not enough, I’m ecstatic to report that I have NONE OF THESE PROBLEMS! I almost can't believe it myself. The work is top notch and the bathrooms look as good as the day they were completed. We still love the design, a design that has proved to be functional and beautiful, zero maintenance issues, and the workmanship is so perfect that 3.5 years later I still can’t see a flaw anywhere after starring at the whole rebuild countless times. No misplaced paint, no cracks, no settling, no noises, no leaks, simply no problems whatsoever. I was hoping to write this re-review on the three-year anniversary of the completed job but at 3.5 years the upgrade is still as strong and stunning as it was on Day One. Regarding the exterior of the house, Chris had the crew blow out a major part of an interior/exterior wall to complete part of the interior design and Ron went to work on the exterior wall, patching it up and blending it in with the existing surrounding stucco surface. Once again, the results are perfect; no seams, cracks, color shifts, or any evidence of remodeling. Ron really knows his stuff! From any exterior point of view and over the duration of 3.5 years you would probably expect to see some slight cracking somewhere due to shrinkage, weather, etc. but I see none of that. And, Ali’s tile work and color choices are still impeccable and breathtaking. We were assured when they ripped out the carpet in one bathroom that the squeaky floor which laid beneath that made noises as we walked across it for a decade before (due to carpet in a wet zone - a dumb idea by the original builder) would not return once Chris and Ali did their thing – and they were right! No noises, not even one, and no cracks either. Incredible. The workmanship on this whole job is unbelievable. The price for this job is… well, the price is the price and you know what it is when you sign on the line. What you don’t know is the ‘value’ of the job; how is it going to hold up over time, how much time are you going to spend re-doing bad work, and how much money is the bad work going to cost you later. Chris’ job returns VALUE in the long run , it’s not just a short-term gain. That makes hat makes me ecstatic because a job done poorly is twice as expensive to fix than if you did to right the first time, and there’s the value. Thanks again to Chris and his dedicated group of professionals and craftsmen for doing such a wonderful job on our renovations.

Where do I start? I can't express how delighted we are with the design, quality of work, and professionalism that Chris brings to the job along with the wide range of knowledge on all things involved with bathroom renovation that he’s acquired in over 20+ years in the business. Chris orchestrates all the Trades onsite and they work to HIS standards, and he demands perfection. Chris gutted two bathrooms for us down to the walls – nothing was left behind except dust and two toilets. (By the way, dust was never a problem because Chris’ team seals every inch of the house surrounding the bathrooms all the way out to the front door). He designed for us two extraordinary bathrooms are so wonderfully blended with the rest of the house that you can’t believe your eyes. We had a lot of what we thought were ‘great ideas’ and when we bounced them off of Chris and Ali, they would take a step back and carefully explain why we shouldn’t do it that way and boy were they right. Whether is was the color of paint, a texture or material these guys know their stuff in such great detail that they can recite the names of a dozen shades of brown pencil tiles, for example, needed to trim out the tile work. My suggestion to new clients would be to give Chris your vision of the bathroom space you want and let him and his team do the rest. He will build anything you want but the wise homeowner will bow to his greater expertise in the area of design. He works with only the best materials, craftsmen, carpenters, plumbers and electricians, each of whom is an expert in what they bring to the job be it Ali, Ron, Ronnie, Gary, Arturo, or any of the guys I haven’t mentioned by name. And don’t forget Jose! The finished bathrooms are open, elegant, gorgeous, and extremely functional. Hopefully our water bill will go down next month because for the last two cycles the water company has invoiced me for double the water usage simply because everybody is taking two or three longer showers per day while being mesmerized by the craftsmanship and beauty of the final results.

Anyone who has ever experienced a renovation or addition knows the stress that comes with all the dust, noise, trades, and unknowns. Hiring the right contractor is imperative to alleviating those stressors, and Chris Samson from FN Construction is the right contractor. Chris communicates constantly; he is available by text, phone, and email and responds promptly no matter the time of day or day of the week. He knows his stuff and hires only the best trades with excellent reputations and skill to complete the work--our wood-like tile floor in a herringbone pattern is a show stopper, as are the kitchen cabinets and quartz countertops! We had such a great experience with Chris on the first project that we hired him for two bathroom remodels that are just completed. The workers showed every morning at 7:00 as promised and left the place clean each afternoon when they left. They are trustworthy as well. We have never worried about leaving our home in their hands or our dog for that matter! Chris and his crew (Jose and brothers) are so much fun to work with. We laugh often. They are also easy to work with solving problems on the spot and are willing to work with our changes that we made during the renovation.. He has great advice regarding where to splurge and where to cut costs. Our next project down the line will be an office addition. We can't wait to work with Chris and his excellent crew at FN Construction and all the wonderful trades: Ali the master tile man, Gary the electrician, and Gary the plumber. The whole experience was great from our first meeting to our last with a toast of champagne!

Chris Samson, General Contractor, is incredible to work with. Not only is he instantly like able, you'll like him even more after your home construction is finished. He proved to be incredibly talented with visions & resources, which I greatly appreciated; yet honest when my ideas just wouldn't work. Probably of even more importance, Chris and all those that work for him, proved to be people of the highest professionally, honesty & integrity. I actually miss them -:)
