As of 12/31/21, Natural Stone Veneers International, Inc. has officially merged with Fond du Lac Stone. We are moving forward under the name, "Fond du Lac Natural Stone". ACCENT MASONRY LLC

Working as a masonry contractor in Southwest Florida for over 35 years i have had the chance to use Natural Stone Veneer Inc's Virginia Ledge stone. When properly installed the stone adds unmatched character and beauty to any wall. I highly recommend the stone and look forward to my next project using Virginia Ledge stone.

I just spent about $20k putting Virginia Ledgestone on the outside of my house. I hired a mason who is a family friend who has been doing this kind of work for 30+ years. The process we have gone through has been extremely time consuming and frustrating. The plan was to put approximately 400 sq ft of stone on the facade of our ranch and the chimney. The cost of the stone was a little over $4000. The majority of the cost was labor. The stone is NOT like the pictures nor the board we were shown at the masonary supply. If you think you are going to get bags of 5"-8" stones that are relatively flat you are not. This stone frequently has jagged edges and would be impossible to dry stack effectively. Once you eat through the nice big, flat stones you are left with a ton of small jagged pieces. Each stone has to be laid out and arranged like a jigsaw puzzle so that they fit together in some sort of reasonable looking manner. Your mason will absolutely hate you by the time the project is over. We even had the local rep come out to my house and he told us the stone comes from Bulgaria (so good luck guessing what you are going to get from bag to bag). Bottom line is this stone is a black hole. It will wind up costing you more money and your mason will come looking for more money shortly. My mason was supposed to be on the job a total of five weeks. It wound up closer to eight weeks. Be warned...there are cheaper and better options out there.

Natural Stone Veneers International, Inc (NSVI) apologizes for the noted frustration with the project. NSVI has been selling Virginia Ledgestone in North America for over 10 years and I've personally installed over 1000 ft.² on displays taken to tradeshows and other projects. Before installation, it is recommended that stone be extracted from multiple boxes and/or crates, laid out and organized, to best achieve a good color blend of the material. This can also be found in our installation guide: http://www.nsvi.com/docs/NSVI_Installation_Guide.pdf. A call placed to NSVI would have been beneficial as we would have given recommendations to help speed up the project. For example, one of the most important tools to have on-hand when installing Virginia Ledgestone is a four-inch grinder with a diamond blade to make quick cuts or square-up an end. Most mason contractors have this tool. If it had been brought to NSVI's attention that inadequate material was sold, replacement stone would have been provided at no charge.

I personally give presentations at architectural offices, educate dealer representatives, attend trade shows, and work one-on-one with mason contractors. One of the things I address in the presentation is a contractor should be compensated more to install Virginia (or Silver) Ledgestone because the stone heights are only 1 to 2 inches tall and lengths of 4 to 14 inches, thus when using these products, it is expected to take longer to install compared to other products NSVI offers. 25 to 30 ft.² per day per mason is a good day’s work considering the complexity of the project and the number of corners to be installed. Most of our other products can be installed by a professional mason contractor at a rate of 50 - 100 ft.² per day.

Commented: what stone is this? Also is the other material stucco?We don't know for sure, but definitely not standard gray. I'd say it was nearly white, or at least as white as the non-stone surfaces nearby.
