We contracted with Jason Seal and Valley Contracting Group to renovate and add onto an existing farm house in Orkney Springs, VA. After a year of fits and starts, we chose to fire him and continue with a different contractor. The list of egregious building errors is long and included framing, electrical and plumbing. I will add that he personally was rarely on site and when we let him go, he commented he had a hard time getting sub contractors to get things done in a timely fashion and correctly. We got the county building department involved and were also in conversation with the state licensing agency. I did not look to write any reviews about him when we parted ways in the winter of 2020, but when a leak occurred yesterday in new plumbing which requires us to remove kitchen cabinets and rip out drywall and then correct his work yet again, I decided to write this review. At the time he was working on our home I had a conversation with Jason about the placement of the water supply on an exterior wall with no insulation. I just had an engineer look, at how the framing could have been done differently allowing the plumbing to be located on an interior wall. I should have stuck with my gut two years ago and insisted Jason do it differently and now that is on me. He however, is supposed to be the professional. I am not a builder. As an update, Jason Seal contacted me immediately upon writing my review. To his credit he offered to make the situation right. I chose to have most of the repairs made by my own contractors, but he did make his tile contractor available for that work and he did pay for it. He also agreed to reimburse me for the costs of the contractors I hired.

Over the past few years, I have built 4 houses and Jason Seal was without a doubt the best to work with. Jason was able to look at the raw piece of property I bought and helped me create the vision of the A frame mountain home that I had always dreamed about. Due to the location of the project, it wasn't easy to build, but Jason overcame those obstacles very easily. The workmanship was fantastic and the quality of product exceeded my expectations. Jason was always responsive and attentive. With being a second home, I never had a concern about any shortcuts. We had two minor issues after occupancy, Jason promptly fixed at his cost. I only wish he was closer to Northern Virginia to build another home for me there. :)

I highly recommend Valley Contracting Group. Jason Seal is a true pro and helped us every step of the way. He was incredibly patient with us and really helped us accomplish our vision for a modern farmhouse. All of his materials are high quality and he never cuts corners. As a sample to support this fact - the insulation he used was top notch, and he could have very easily used cheaper materials and hoped we didn't notice. Jason gives the attention and personal touch that big-box simply don't and can't. Highly recommend!

Where to begin… let me start with the fact that this was our first time buying/building a home so we had no idea what to expect and were most likely the most annoying clients ever. We met with Jason, Manager of Valley Contracting (VCG), while in the process of buying our land and immediately knew that we wanted to work with him. He came out to the site and took a lot of time going through every single detail with us (and believe me, there were a lot of details and questions). He worked with us on our budget and showed us homes that fit the price point we wanted to be at. Throughout the process, he was INCREDIBLY patient with us as we changed plans and tiny details. He really knows his stuff. We customized every single inch of our plans and he rolled with every new idea or suggested other options that would better fit the budget. Everyone on the VCG team is incredibly friendly and the quality of our home is exceptional! Any vendor or worker we talk to says nothing but good things about Jason and the first thing they mention is VCG's high-quality and great attention to detail. Small world - even our neighbor had a former house built by him and raved about the quality! There are a lot of big box house builders in our area that jack up prices and skimp on quality - VCG is the complete opposite with fair prices and amazing quality. We know that we would not be able to get the home we have from any other builder in our area. Nothing beats Valley Contracting Group’s quality and prices. We cannot wait to move in!! My wife and I designed a rather substantial addition to the back of our 115 year old farm house. We contacted 3 contractors including Valley Contracting Group. We met with Jason to review the project and after suggesting some modifications to improve the project, he submitted a very professional and detailed proposal. We both felt very comfortable with Jason as he explained what we should expect. Upon commencement of the construction, we had a series of highly competent and skilled crews performing their portion of the work. Of particular note is the care they used in joining the old house to the new work and all of the work was spot on. As someone who has a reputation for being particular about how things are done, I sincerely appreciated the care and quality of the work done. Also, the project was completed on time and within budget. We are both very pleased with how the project turned out and we would highly recommend Valley Contracting Group and Jason Seal to anyone who has a large or small building project. He will take care of your every building need.

Jason and his teams completed my house on schedule in spite of the changes I made along the way. I am happy with the quality of the work and his teams were respectful and accommodating. When I discovered, two years after the house was completed, that one of the subcontractors did something wrong, Jason covered the cost of fixing it with no questions.

We contacted VCG because they were recommended to us by another home owner who's home VCG built. After meeting with the owner, Jason Seal, we chose to hire VCG to extensive remodeling to our cabin in Mt. Jackson. The job ended up being much more involved due to the age of the house. VCG consistently quoted fair prices with exceptional work and was very timely. Jason is very attentive was always available to meet to discuss changes and offer recommendations. We had Valley Contracting Group build what we thought was going to be our dream home. But after being in it for about one year it has turned into a nightmare. We have been unable to get any positive response from them.

Jason did an outstanding job building our house in Mt Jackson, managing every detail from the well being drilled to the road being built up to the construction site. He followed the architectural design and adjusted where needed. He consulted closely with us on every aspect of the construction inside and out, accommodating our changes and adding design elements inside the house that significantly improved the look and feel of the rooms.
