All New Again

While Ms. Ellefsen's description of the challenges they faced in getting their insurance company to cover the costs associated with water heater leak they discovered back in 2017 is largely accurate (State Farm did, in fact, attempt, for an extended period, not to cover the damages that the leak caused), that is hardly a reason to give All New Again, LLC a poor review. All New Again, LLC did everything in our power to assist the Ellefsen's in getting coverage and, in fact, they did finally receive some coverage for the loss. Of course, that coverage did not include all of the items that had been damaged, such as structural components, that had some long-term dry rot and decay issues as a result of the length of time the water heater was leaking. At the time Ms. Ellefsen was quite aware of the fact that her policy with State Farm did not include mold, fungi, dry rot, or decay damages and did not wish to incur the additional costs of replacing dry rot and decayed damaged structures. Therefore, All New Again LLC simply remediated existing mold within industry standards and made necessary repairs within the funds available at the direction of Ms. Ellefsen. That did not include replacing dry rotted or decayed structural components. The treatments available for mold only remediate existing mold. It is impossible to prevent future mold growth in a moist crawl space environment such as is often the case in Washington State. Ms. Ellefsen recently sold the home and the purchaser apparently did not require a pre-purchase inspection and Ms. Ellefsen apparently did not disclose the known structural damage. Apparently, the new owner had an inspection done after the sale closed and during that inspection discovered the pre-existing dry rot and decay in the structural components along with new mold growth. When Ms. Ellefsen contacted All New Again LLC regarding this issue, we sent our AHERA Certified Building Inspector to examine the property and he confirmed that the dry rot and decay on the structural beam in question was the same as before, and as our previous photo documentation clearly demonstrated. A review of the agreed scope of work documentation clearly indicated that All New Again LLC had not previously agreed to replace the previously damaged structural beam and had not been paid to do so. In fact, our project file indicated that Ms. Ellefsen had specifically directed us to work around that damage to the best of our ability as it was not of an immediate structural concern. As a result, when Ms. Ellefsen called recently, ANA was not willing, some 4 years later, to replace the dry rot and decay damaged structural components, without compensation, that were not part of the original agreed scope of work. All New Again LLC is uncertain why that position should result in a negative review when their initial reviews of our damage restoration services four years ago were five-star positive reviews. While All New Again LLC certainly apologizes for any mishandling of communication with Ms. Ellefsen, and any perception our previous customer may have had that our responses were anything less than professional, the fact remains that the damage restoration services performed was as agreed, and Ms. Ellefsen had absolutely no concerns at the time.
