Everyone we have worked with on building our house has been great except for Building Company Number 7. They claim a lot to get you to sign with them but not live up to the promises. If you sent an email before noon we did not get a response that day. We didn't get monthly health checks and our emails to ask how we were doing financially would be vague and say they were in the process of updating things. They took no notes and then would have to redo things and charged us for their mistakes. They were 100% we would move in on December 19th (even on Dec 18th) and we ended up moving into the unfinished house in March. Still waiting on the punch list to be completed.

Comment from Building Company Number 7, Inc.:
Susanne, we are sorry you feel we did not live up to our promises. We have certainly implemented and continue to refine processes over the last year to ensure our communication is timely and understood. Monthly health checks are part of what helps us make sure everything is on track. Staying on timeline was difficult with multiple late notice cancelations and limited access to the property - including 60 days restricted access - initiated by you. Additionally, your ever-growing scope and punch list, refusal to sign for work with expectation of completion and denial of access to home inspections contributed greatly to delays. Not to mention, you attempted to add to the scope by pretending to work for our company and contacting subcontractors without our knowledge. We look forward to all matters being settled in order to complete your project as soon as possible. You have received ample communication on what is required to occur prior to completion of punch list. We look forward to all matters being settled in order to complete this project.

Hired Building Co Number 7 for adding a covered porch and carport to my existing home. I'm totally pleased with the outstanding quality of all work, with contractor's response to questions throughout the entire project, with their carefully eliminating any disturbance to adjacent neighbor properties and with their budget management. Project finished just 6% over budget which was outstanding considering the price inflation of materials during the time required to complete the project. I've dealt with several other contractors for previous construction projects, but none can compare with Matt and his team at Bldg Co Number 7. They deserve my highest praise and without reservation I can recommend them.

The Building Company Number 7 team is incredibly dedicated to their customer service & communication on each project they work on. It is not very often that you find contractors who are transparent, reliable, and accountable the way this company is. Chris and Tony, the project managers, are fantastic guys who are eager to get good work done right for their clients, while their internal jobsite crew is made up of workers who are respectful, considerate, and diligent. Build Co. 7 has been a great company to work with through and through.

Consultation and on-site observation.
Wow. These guys go above and beyond to get it right. Everyone I've talked you has shared a lot of horror stories about fighting with contractors and how nothing turned out the way they wanted. I believe Building Company Number Seven is definitely the Exception. Also, Tony is just the best!

Building company number 7 might be the most responsive, honest home remodeler I have ever encountered. As a real estate developer myself, I encounter no shortage of people who promise one thing and do another. These guys do what they promise, when they promise it and in the time frame that they promise to do it. I hired them to do a remodeling job for my mother in laws home and not only did they do a great job, but they made me proud to recommend them to others.

We had a deck in the back of our home beside our pool but never used it because of bugs and a lack of shade, so contacted 6 local Nashville contractors to quote a screened porch in the space. We heard of Building Co. #7 through a friend in East Nashville. Matt was responsive to our initial inquiry and took time to talk conceptually about his vision for our space as an "extension of our living room." Despite being the highest bid we entertained, we decided to use Building Co. #7 because of their professional nature and the quality of their work. Their team were upfront about the total project costs and accommodating as we added a fireplace and hardwood flooring to the design. They walked us through the historic zoning commission process and meetings which went flawlessly because of their good relationship with the zoning board and city managers. All of the Building Co #7 team and subcontractors with whom we interacted were professional and courteous, and it was obvious they were skilled and cared about their craft and our project. We were able to complete the project on time and on time despite a few hiccups along the way with weather, wrong shipments of materials from box store suppliers, etc. We are thrilled with the work and believe the pictures speak for themselves. You definitely get what you pay for, and to have a competent and courteous team in addition to quality work is just icing on the cake.

Building Company #7 did a wonderful job with the upstairs bath renovation in our ca. 1926 Tudor cottage. They certainly weren't the least expensive option, but they're very transparent about this in their advertising. They listened to what we wanted and planned accordingly, as we had a pretty specific budget and had already selected and purchased nearly all of the materials and the finishes ourselves, based upon a previously contracted estimate that had to be aborted when the contractor had major health issues and couldn't do the job. We also wanted to maintain some reference to existing finishes in the downstairs bath, as our residence is located within a historic overlay.
We had planned to wait a bit to renovate, but the shower leaked, so we had to proceed earlier than expected. This bath had been built 23 years earlier, when we finished attic space into a master bedroom with the en suite bath, and we noticed leaking on the downstairs ceiling. The contractor used a Kerdi Schluter system for the shower, which was something I had inquired about and stated I preferred, as I didn't want to have to redo this again, especially given the location upstairs. It took a while longer to get started than we wanted, because there's just so much development in our location currently, but everything proceeded pretty smoothly, despite some unforeseen scheduling glitches that were vendor related, not project management related. We had the shower torn out and rebuilt, using new white subway tile with Delorean grey grout, frameless glass, and a white quartz bench and sills. We had our old whirlpool tub replaced with a new air jet model and used the same subway tile for the backsplash, skirting, and quartz tub surround, and for the backsplash wall behind the two new console sinks as well. They installed two semicustom tall cabinets in quartersawn white oak on either side of the console sinks. I finished these myself in a weathered oak stain to match the two console sinks with bases in the same finish I purchased from Restoration Hardware, along with two large white surface-mounted medicine chests over the sinks, also from Restoration Hardware. With consideration for function and weight, we also had carpet removed and new Armstrong Alterna luxury vinyl tile in a slate pattern laid in a brick pattern in the bath and in the walk-in closet. We did the painting ourselves to reduce some of the project cost. I like this group because they're skillful, considerate, and follow up to make sure you're pleased. I'd definitely recommend and hire again.

Excellent quality . Building Company Number 7 was recommended to us by our architect. We were not disappointed. Matt and his team are wonderful to work with. Chris, his project manager worked closely with us. If we had a problem Chris would find the resources to fix it. If we wanted to change our original ideas, Chris would make it happen. If the quality of the installation was not to our liking, Chris would redo it until we were satisfied.

We hired Building Company Number 7 to execute architectural plans (by Bootstrap Architects) for our 420 sq. foot addition & remodel job on our 1935 Tudor home. The project manager has always been considerate and listened to my concerns and made the changes according to my wishes. For one example, I decided the shower needed a window to the bathroom area for more natural light and he got the job done with my input. The delays have been typical for working with sub-contractors and inspectors. The project manager has made up for time by keeping the job progressing as needed and scheduling follow-up work closer . Also, the sub-contractors have all been professional, experienced and courteous. I highly recommend even though we are at the half-way point in the overall job:-)

Matt and his crew are fantastic! We needed recessed lights in 4 rooms, ceiling fans in two rooms, a new bathroom fan, and painting. The work was pristine and was done efficiently even inspite of inclement weather. We will need a new roof soon and plan to remodel our kitchen. We will definitely use them again!
