Though we work on opposite sides of the country, Keith was more than willing to help answer questions I had about another vendors' services. I really appreciate his time and honesty. Keith Borall and all of the Character Builder team members and subs were fantastic, pleasant, fun, with just the right amount of perfectionism (a lot!)! They have a completed a kitchen, master bath, and guest bath remodel that transformed our home. Every day during construction, I enjoyed coming home after work to new gift as each element was completed. Their work and attention to detail were top notch! We are very pleased with the results. I chose Character Builders to do my kitchen and bath remodel, because I was looking for someone that could take my creative dream and turn it into reality. Keith did this. He helped me design a beautiful purple (and gray) kitchen and bathroom. He made things work and the overall design and building of it was just what I wanted and more. Everyday I am in my kitchen (2 years later), I think to myself how much I love it and how much he could see my unique vision and how amazing it is.

We just completed a whole house renovation of a four bedroom, three bath, ranch-style home. This project involved the usual popcorn removal, tile work, flooring, lighting, plumbing, etc. Character Builders provided excellent subs, professional not only in their work, but in their client relations. This project posed challenges uncommon to basic flips. Keith Borrall, the owner of Character Builders, offered creative solutions, expertise and resources to beautifully realize the vision of the project. At his suggestion, we opted for a spiral staircase, a kitchen reconfiguration, and effective lighting throughout. Keith offered alternatives, when he felt that our ideas would not serve us well, and allowed us to comfortably live in the home throughout the entire process. Additionally, we were very pleased with Keith's timely communications, attention to detail, and his ability to keep the project on time and on budget. Throughout the project we felt as if our home was being cared for as a home, not just a project. Our entire experience confirms that "Character Builders" is the perfect name for this great company and it's people.

Character Builders is owned by Keith Borrall, he and his crew were wonderful to work with. We had a huge project, basically rebuilding the kitchen, the family room, all bathrooms and updating everything else. There wasn't one surface in the house that wasn't changed. We also rebuilt the deck and added a pergola. The project took about 8 months to complete. All of this was done while we were living in another state. Keith was the 3rd contractor we interviewed, we found him here on Houzz and were impressed by his high reviews but what sold us was his down to earth personality and his willingness to answer questions and get back to us quickly. He also had much better prices! I honestly can't tell you how many times we thanked our lucky stars that we found Keith. He is very organized, and we felt that our project was getting done even when we weren't there. I flew in about once a month to go over the next phase and make decisions, but I was constantly getting updates by email and texts. Keith has the best crew we've ever worked with, they are perfectionists and the sweetest most trustworthy guys. They really cared, and made sure that everything was done right. The subs were awesome as well, especially Sal (dry wall) and Cole (electrician) , Chris who joined the crew at the end, Riley (Keith's son) and Steve the stone fabricator. I have a background in interior design, and whenever I came up with a new design I just sent it to Keith and he figured out what it would cost and how they would build it. He recommended an excellent kitchen cabinet company, plumbing fixture company, door experts, stone experts etc... Keith also handled all the crazy permits and building codes, which are truly daunting in California. I also highly recommend Integrated Resources Group, in Brisbane, for marble slabs. Alexis is the lady we worked with and she was very helpful. We ended up getting 3 calacatta marble slabs for kitchen and bath counters. Also highly recommend Jack Smith Glass Co., and Fabworks metal fabricators who made our stair rail and very cool headboards. Rug Works in Sonoma put in the hard wood floors and did a perfect job. Keith coordinated all these companies, handled any concerns and communicated with everyone very well. Tammra Borrall, Keith's wife, is very nice and also a top real estate agent in the area. She actually introduced us to some of our neighbors, which was great since we didn't know anyone when we moved there. We didn't know Tammra until we hired Keith, but have recommended her to friends. Character Builders is excellent, we would give them an A+ rating.

This was a project to add a breakfast room to the kitchen and to add a second floor deck above the existing deck. There were many details involved (new hardwood floor, built-in bench seating, waterproofing under the upper deck, outdoor spiral staircase between decks, lighting, ceiling fans, outdoor heat lamp). Keith was very personable and easy to communicate with. The written estimate, provided in advance, turned out to be remarkably accurate. His knowledge and experience showed throughout the project, as it was completed on time and on budget. The results are beautiful, and I would wholeheartedly recommend Character Builders to anyone considering an addition or renovation.

Character Builders completed a 16'x16' addition onto the master bedroom and a 15'x15' wood deck with a sunken in Jacuzzi. They remodeled the master bathroom and improved a guest bathroom. The project required installation of large concrete piers for a foundation on steep, clay soils. The contractor brought in an excellent team of framers and carpenters that worked extremely efficiently and complied with all the specs laid out in the plans. They were very courteous to our family and our neighbors and were willing to make adjustments as necessary. They sought to meet our complete satisfaction, even when we were indecisive about colors, texture or tiling. The contractor brought in specialists when necessary to complete a given task like hardwood floor work. Overall we are very satisfied with the end product.

Character Builders remodeled two bathrooms for us and I would highly recommend them. From the start of the project they were both helpful and flexible. The owner, Keith, met with us after work hours to go over budgets and plans. He is very knowledgeable and gave us tips on materials as well as local sources. He was in constant contact and always gave us a heads up about any disruptions. In fact, he scheduled our first bathroom demolition while we were away, to minimize the noise and dust! His workers were polite and competent. We were very happy with the end results! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Character Builders.

We did not know Keith Borrall of Charachter Builders before contracting him for our bathroom remodel. He was recommended through our designer. We found Keith to be respectful, courteous, efficient, and pleasant to work with. We had several delays during the process, but Keith was not responsible, the problems were with several suppliers. I was especially pleased with the quality of people that worked for Keith. There was never a concern to have them in our home at any time. The quality of their work was outstanding. I appreciated that additional effort was made until I was satisfied with the results. Keith invoiced us regularly as the work was completed. Very helpful. I would recommend anyone to hire Character Builders for a remodeling project.

I hired Character Builders to do moderate to major remodels on 2 pieces of property in sonoma county. I needed a contractor who could assume all of the responsibilities for the projects because I didn't live in the area. I was extremely pleased with character builders knowledge and professionalism from the original design phase through completion of the projects. The projects were done on time and within budget. It was wonderful not to have to worry about these projects during the construction phase. I highly recommend Character Builders.

We contracted with Character Builders for four separate projects: three bathrooms and a kitchen. With each project, Keith was readily available to assist with our design and materials choices. His project quotes were very thorough; we knew exactly what our projects would cost, element by element. Keith and his team arrived when they said they would, and completed our projects in a timely fashion. They were also very conscientious about daily clean-up. Keith's attention to detail assured quality project results; we're very happy with our new rooms.

We purchased a mid-century ranch home and needed Character Builders to remodel two bathrooms, relocate laundry from a utility room off the kitchen to the back area of one of the bathrooms, oversee refinishing wood floors throughout, install new molding on all doors and windows, texture all walls, and supervise complete painting of the whole interior, all with a 7-week deadline so we could move in before the lease ran out on our apartment! The master bathroom design began with a difficult footprint - a long narrow room with no water closet and closet space behind louvered doors along one wall. The remodel of that room was fabulous. Keith delivered everything we wanted in the 'whole house remodel' despite the time crunch we imposed. He would let me know the decisions and selections needed for the next step of the remodel with plenty of time for me to give him my answer. His subcontractors did great work. Keith encountered many things that were unexpected in remodeling a home more than 60 years old; he would have two or three solutions that he would present to us, and would let us choose. I appreciated his collaboration with us most of all.
