Derrick Layer Custom Homes & Remodeling

Derrick has done several jobs on our house, from big to small. He rehabbed a bath, made built-in custom cabinetry, ripped out old windows to install french doors, and added a new wall to our basement. He also did a massive add-on and kitchen remodel (with the previous owner,, which is how we met him). Everything he has done was high quality and has stood the test of time and little kids. The design of the kitchen is very functional and well-laid out (I love to cook and spend a lot of time in the kitchen). Derrick is super busy, but very responsive and never made excuses when something went wrong--he just figured out a way to fix it. And yes, some things did go wrong, but that's the nature of a remodel/rehab. The question is how the contractor deals with it. I've worked with several contractors over the years, and so far he's the best I've found. As others have attested, his subs are all very professional as well and very loyal to him, which tells you a little bit about how he treats people.

Complete kitchen tear out and remodel, also knocked wall down between kitchen and dining room and made large kitchen instead of small galley kitchen. Completed work July 2010. Completely impressed with their work and ability to finish in projected timeline, within projected price.

We has 2 bathroom that needed to be completely redone. It involved moving walls and plumbing. The former bathrooms were very dated and had shown a lot of wear. What we have now is amazing. It is 2 high-quality, luxury baths that still fit with our post modern home style. The project went very easily, everything was done when we were told it would be done. Any issues were very minor, but with a project this big, there will always be something. Nothing big enough to lower the rating. On time, on budget, easy to work with. Could not ask for anything more then that. Would have them return to redo our kitchen.
