For more than two years, I worked closely with Engerman during the construction of my mother-in-law's lake front home in Williams Bay. John, Linda and the entire team were a joy to work with. The project was a difficult and highly customized job, with a quality of finish that is extremely high. John and his team were asked to go above and beyond on elements of the design and construction. The results were high quality and John was always fair and reasonable as we worked through the process. I came to respect John's judgment and honesty. If John said that something couldn't be done -- or needed to be done differently -- it usually turned out that he was right. Since we've gotten to know John, he has been an outstanding resource, always quick with a recommendation and keen to lend a hand if we need a favor. John and his wife Madeline are marvelous people and we look forward to working with Engerman on other projects for many years to come.

We had John Engerman build our family lake home in Lake Geneva. We loved working with John and his team. John is a visionary and is very passionate about building beautiful homes. Linda was so patient, organized and knowledgeable. She walked us through every detail and kept us from getting overwhelmed. They were very responsive to our personal requests and input, and they always had great ideas and input. Knowing that we didn't want to lose two summers with the family at the lake, John told us that he would have the house built in a year. He tore down the old house the day after Labor Day and our home was finished the following Labor Day, even though we added quite a bit of additional work midstream. We have nothing but good things to say about Engerman. It was obvious that they really wanted to please us all along the way. We have recommended John to many friends and if we were ever to build again we would use Engerman in a heartbeat.

Engerman Contracting built our house. New build on a newly purchased lot. It was the first time either my husband or I have had a new house built. It was actually a very good experience despite all the horror stories we heard about the process of building a house. John Engerman , his assistant Linda and right hand man Derek were there for us every step of the process. They basically walked us through everything from beginning to end. Although we were residing in the Chicago area throughout the process, they kept in constant contact with us, responded promptly to any questions we had, and kept us completely in the loop regarding everything that was being done. Linda was always very helpful and informative on really a daily basis. The quality of the work was absolutely top notch, and the company’s experience in building high quality and luxurious homes in the Lake Geneva area was always readily apparent. My wife Judy and I accidentally met John Engerman while looking at many existing homes on the lake in Lake Geneva back in 2010. It did not take Judy and I more than 10 to 15 minutes to know that this is the guy an this is the company we wanted to have build our house on the shores of Lake Geneva, instead of buying and fixing up and existing home. John has such unique ideas and artistic talents to not only make your house unique but make it still the way you want the end product to be. The process was streamlined it took only 14 months to do our clock tower home which had almost 8000 ft.². We became friends before the process during the process and we have stayed friends after the process. That says it all about a builder. You could not go wrong in using John Engerman and his company to build your home or rehab your home. He treats it like it's his.

We contacted John about 10 years before we built our home with him, as we loved his style of home and creative flair. During that whole period of time, when we thought we had found a lot to build on or needed to inquire about a specific home architecture, he always made time for us even though he wasn't obligated to do so or making any money from us. When it came time to start our project, there was no question in our minds on who we would select as our builder. Our home took about 2 years from concept to complete and John and his team were consummate professionals. The lot we built on was tricky and the architecture we selected was highly customized, yet we couldn't be happier with the outcome we produced together. I would highly recommend John and his team any day of the week!

It was a pleasure to work with Engerman on our third floor build project. We turned our attic space into an office with a bathroom and added a gym. The team at Engerman was in charge of everything from design details to purchasing and installing all of the finishes. The project also involved some architectural work and the upgrade of our HVAC system. The workers were very respectful of our home, which is specially important when the work is being done on the third floor of a furnished house! The finished product is a great space in which careful attention was paid to every detail. We couldn't be happier with both the process and the final product!
