We are just approaching 1 yr in our beautiful Tobey Developments home and we couldn't be happier.. These homes are so well built that we feel a sense of pride every time we come home. From the quality workmanship, finishes that go the extra mile and personalized service the experience was rewarding and pleasant. Stephen worked with us to ensure the design met our lifestyle needs and desire for an attractive home. We also appreciated the fact that he utilized local craftsmen and trades person to work along side his own excellent crews. We got to know these workmen well and appreciated their immense respect for Tobey Homes as well as their quality work. At this 1 yr mark we can honestly say there are virtually no deficiencies. Yes, we would highly recommend a Tobey home!

We are so glad we chose Gordon Tobey Developments as our home builder. We were suddenly facing the need for a barrier-free home. We worked closely with Stephen who met every one of our needs, and then some. We really appreciated his sourcing of local building suppliers and using local tradesmen to work on our new R-2000 Energy Star home. Stephen accommodated my schedule - early mornings and late afternoons outside of regular business hours - in order to keep the build on schedule. They worked as a team and went above and beyond our expectations. The workmanship and attention to detail is like none-other. After searching for several years for our retirement home, my wife and I decided to custom build with Stephen Tobey in Brighton, Ontario. The end result has exceeded our expections as the build quality of the house and the building experience with Stephen and his staff have been truly outstanding. From the beginning it was clear Stephen is very knowledgeable in both construction and design, patiently explaining design factors and providing thoughtful suggestions throughout the building process. Despite living 3 hours away from Brighton, he kept us informed of progress and even posted photos on his Facebook page as the house was built. The house was delivered on the date promised which kept moving complications to a minimum.Having lived in 10 different houses in 5 different provinces, we can honestly state this house is significantly better than any of our previous homes. Stephen is meticulous for detail and all his craftsmen take pride in their workmanship, which is reflected in the quality of the final product, and which by the way meets the ENERGY STAR specifications.It has been 5 months now since we took possession of our Tobey-built home and we are extremely happy with the home. After sales service is efficient and friendly with Stephen personally overseeing the work.We highly recommend Stephen Tobey to anyone who desires a high-quality, custom built home, or even major renovations. We can attest to his growing reputation as one of (if not the) best builders in the region.

When our century home burned down in 2013 we were desperately in need of someone to solve our problems as we didn't want to be homeless for any longer than necessary. I was aware of Stephen and Gordon Tobey's reputation as the best builder in the valley, so I convinced my wife to dispense with the idea of running around getting multiple quotes for this project and contacted Stephen right away. He appeared on our property that day and was obviously impressed with what we had lost and was quite excited with the prospect of doing this project which required reproducing a historic building but to modern standards. We were not disappointed as the photos of our home ( Goodfellow property) on this website can attest. Aside from being meticulous in all aspects of this build, we were especially impressed with the way that Stephen handled every detail right from his office. Other than light fixtures, we were able to pick out everything including colours, flooring, hardware, doors, windows on and on and on right from the comfort of his model home/ office. All of the leg work normally associated with picking out and deciding on these many features was eliminated due to his vast selection of samples on hand and his expertise in knowing what would look good and where. After we moved in any problem was addressed by himself immediately, and all it would take is an email from us. Anytime I called, someone jumped !
