Gila- home design & color guru

I have used Gila's talent in the past, and there is no way I can work on any project without her! Several years ago, she painted a beautiful mural for my son's room, which came out terrific! This past year, I decided to change the colors of all my rooms in the house. I had an idea of the look I wanted, but I wasn't sure what colors to use. Gila is the ultimate expert who came to the rescue! She has such a good eye for color and knowledge of what would look best in the size of the room and furniture, etc. She made the process so easy, with no stress! If anyone is have trouble deciding on colors for your home, do not hesitate to reach out to Gila. She is truly the best!

I found Gila through Houzz. I needed advise about a complicated color change for my kitchen and dining room. Gila was very professional, helpful and sweet. As she learned about me and my home and my color sense, I learned about her and her life adventure on the road, her new book about her experiences and her courage. It was a great match, she sent me lots of large paint swatches to work with in the light changes and I am super excited to paint my outdated kitchen and dining room a new fabulous color! We had our meetings remotely and everything worked out great!

Gila quickly helped us when we were stuck on color choices. Working remotely, she was able to look at our home and come up with a wonderful solution both me and my husband liked. Her insights were spot on and so valuable. She is such an expert with colors and warm, thoughtful and fun to talk to. She took the anxiety out of choosing the right colors. Highly recommend!

"Color Guru" is the exact title for Gila. Through FaceTime and phone conversations, Gila helped transform my entire first floor (five rooms, two hallways and stairway) with recommendations on colors, provided color samples of me to chose from and helped in my decision making for my painter. If the color samples were not what I "thought" I wanted, more ideas and samples were provided. She has a keen eye and "heard" what I was looking for. As previously stated, we did this remotely. And I am extremely happy with the outcome. Do not shy away from the remote process. Gila is responsive and works within your timeline.

Gila is much more than someone who just advises you on color. Her keen eye sweeps across your room(s) -- and you end up getting a lot of good advice on aspects beyond paint color. I contacted Gila at the recommendation of a paint store in Ridgewood because my painter unexpectedly had time to do my family room, and I needed a color -- fast. She helped me figure out which color direction I wanted to go in, and then we narrowed it down to a couple of choices. I'm happy with the final result, and she also gave me ideas on a few other things while she was here. Gila also has a lot of contacts in the home improvement business, so she's a good resource if you're looking for someone to make curtains, hand-paint furniture, or do a renovation.

I recently had the pleasure of inviting Gila into my home for her expertise with colors. It was a very challenging paint project as there were many walls with various lighting and shadows to accommodate while keeping the color consistant in appearance. Gila was able to create a beautiful custom color that worked nicely on all the walls regardless of the different degrees of lighting and this is truly an amazing testament to her brilliant talents and natural abilities as a gifted artist. In addition, she was very respectful of the budget I had allowed for this project. I am a very pleased customer!

Working with Gila was great. She was patient and knowledgeable when helping us pick out paint colors, and her flexibility in scheduling made the planning process really convenient. Gila is amazing and a pleasure to work with. She explained and educated us about colors with all the different shades and tints and how they work together. I hired Gila because I live in a house without an open floor plan, and had previously painted my rooms piecemeal. I never realized how much the rooms weren't coordinating with each other because I had done them individually. I also knew that something was not quite right with the shade of grade in my kitchen, but didn't know what. So when it came time to repaint, I wanted to do it the right way and reached out to Gila. She was fantastic to work with. She came to my house and immediately understood I needed better flow between the rooms and that could be done with color. She provided expert recommendations, pulling out samples and even identified that the gray I had chosen for my kitchen was too cold. In some cases she gave me options and ordered larger samples that were later mailed to me. I was able to tape the two options to my walls and sit with them before deciding which I liked best. Gila took my concerns into consideration as well. As someone who had a lot of color going on before and was switching to a more neutral palette, I was nervous about losing color. She gave me an accent wall color that gave me that shot of color I wanted without it detracting from the rest of the scheme. Lastly, she recommended the most conscientious painter to execute her vision! I feel like I'm living in a new house, and have a sense of calm now. Everything just works.

Gila was absolutely wonderful to work with, and I love the new colors we picked for our new home. She was super knowledgeable and reliable too, so happy we made the decision to hire her.
