I worked with Jan Robinson on a bathroom renovation. Her help was invaluable to me. I'm a busy professional with little free time and was overwhelmed with how best to start, especially regarding where to source fixtures and materials. Jan has a refined sense of aesthetic and listens carefully to what you like and are interested in. She's wonderful to work with and helped make this project smooth and enjoyable. I recommend Jan Robinson highly for any interior design consulting needs.

We hired Jan mid-way through construction of our home in Yarmouth, Maine. After making a few design selections on our own that weren't "perfect," and feeling overwhelmed by all of the decisions still ahead, I sought help with color, tile, and furniture selection. Every penny we spent with Jan (and it was far less than I expected) was worth it. Jan told me she takes pride in not having her own "style:" you'll never walk into a home in southern Maine and say "Oh, Jan Robinson did this." Instead, she listened carefully to me throughout the process, taking into consideration a series of pictures I shared with her and her assistant early in our work together. From here, they returned design options and selections that reflected what I was asking for or built off the beginning of a concept I had described - all exactly within the tone, style or parameters I was hoping for. They made it easy for me to say "nah, I don't like that" and readily returned a different idea. The phone was always answered and emails always returned; things were done within the timeframe they promised; they were flexible, willing to help where ever I needed them, and they handled the details of supply and furniture ordering with accuracy and attention to detail. The result is an absolutely gorgeous home, a great experience with a talented professional, and a relationship that I will return to time and time again whenever I have a design question or need. Jan is not only a consummate professional at her craft but a very personable and affable person as well. She helped me immensely with a large project recently that had me feeling in way over my head. She brought in several excellent professionals for all the subcontracting work and helped me with colors, fabrics and several other decisions along the route from beginning to end. I would say her broad knowledge of styles and decorating techniques are up to any challenge. You could hardly go wrong with Jan.

Hired Jan to help me on various projects. Jan listened to my needs and style preferences, budget and time line, took a look at the space, and then she brought selections on carpet and fabric for my enclosed porch, tile for my kitchen and foyer, and new light fixtures for above my dining table and in ceiling in foyer all in a timely fashion. Jan's professionalism, design knowledge and her many resources saved me time and money. Whether the project is large or small, Jan is truly "user friendly" - an easy person to work with! I will hire Jan again in the next year for two more projects. Her store on Forest Avenue in Portland is also a gem, with interesting large and small items for sale including little gift type finds, some one of a kind items from local artists.

Jan is incredibly honest and trustworthy. She has been advising and guiding me in the design of my home and I feel so grateful to have found her as a resource. I also love her store which has beautiful items. I have bought several accent pieces. I would highly recommend her.

Last fall we redid our kitchen, refinished all floors and painted all walls on our first floor. Jan was a great help in selecting paint colors that worked well to update our 20 year old cottage style home. I had no idea how stressful it could be picking colors to use throughout the entire house! Jan's experience, and calm and professional demeanor helped get me there. She is a great listener and nailed a perfect neutral color to compliment the updated white woodwork in our south-facing home: Ben Moore's Baby Fawn. We have had many compliments and enjoy our home every day. When we have another project I'll be in touch with Jan. I enjoy just stopping in to see her at her shop which provides inspiration as well.

Jan has been helping me with every renovation project in our new "old" 1870 french second empire home in Portland, Me. She designed the finishes in our guest powder room. We hired "local" to get the work done. Tim Hill Fine Woodworking made the wood base, we purchased the tile from Distinctive Tile and Design. Our kitchen is a story in itself. Jan picked out the finishes and colors for our kitchen. It took a village to get her ideas to come to fruition. Kitchen Cove Cabinetry (Portland) designed the cabinet layout, Mid-Coast Marble and Granite cut and installed the counters (West Bath), Deadhead Lumber (Scarborough) provided the reclaimed wood for the floor, Tim Hill Fine Woodworking (Gorham) finished the floors and built the range hood to mirror our mansard roof. Distinctive Tile (Portland) supplied the tile, Handle-It (Portland) supplied the pulls and knobs and the list keeps on going. We are thrilled with the results of Jan's efforts to make our home cozy, comfortable and symbolize who we are.

I highly recommend Jan Robinson! She is the most down to earth interior designer that I have ever met. She is thoughtful, creative, and intuitive. She is timely, keeps you informed, and is right on the mark when it comes to creating a space of comfort. She helped turn my very spacious, stark bedroom, into a cozy, elegant environment. It is now a room that is conducive to not only sleeping, but snuggling up to read a good book. In addition, she helped me transform my kitchen, by getting rid of some tired wallpaper, and adding a fresh coat of paint. With only a few changes, my kitchen looks new and alive again. Jan is the best! Easy to work with, very professional and a blessing to those her field!
