About Us

Sarahliz Lawson Design is an award-winning interior design and interior architecture firm offering full-service interior design services from concept to completion. We specialize in creating warm, soulful interiors with a modern perspective for residential and boutique hospitality clients on the West Coast and beyond. The goal of our studio practice is to create beautiful and inspiring interiors that are informed by the past but also guided by an individual’s vision for their present and future. Home has to be a place that not only functions to suit modern needs but facilitates a life where you feel connected to the bigger picture, to something greater than yourself, to the story that came before, and to everything you care most about. Founder and Principal Sarahliz Lawson is an ivy league educated history major, and earned her Masters in Interior Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. She is also NCIDQ certified. She leads the charge with almost 20 years of experience designing large-scale residential interiors and boutique hospitality experiences. Our work has been featured in Luxe Magazine, Modern Luxury, Haute Living, Lonny, Hotel Management, Fodor’s Travel, North Bay Business Journal and Houzz. During the design and construction process, Sarahliz became a true partner to both of us, taking our vision for the home and turning it into something spectacular. We appreciated Sarahliz's involvement in every step of the process from initial design sketches to the final few days where Sarahliz and her team supervised the final move-in and set-up. Sarahliz has impeccable taste, but her greatest quality is the commitment and attention she brings to her clients. She spent countless hours with us going through various design ideas, and led us to decisions we never could have arrived at ourselves. The final product was something beyond our expectations. We were referred to Sarahliz when we began interviewing general contractors for our project two years ago. From our very first meeting, she created a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. She is a highly sought after designer, yet she was very simple and maintained a positive outlook throughout the project. Her eye for excellence and timeless design concepts were effortlessly reflected in our new kitchen and family room. In addition to her interior design work for our transitional kitchen, she also guided our architect on the layout of the windows to bring out the best natural settings. She was always patient and encouraging even in the face of our various design challenges, especially during the pandemic. Our favorite part of her design is the stunning custom zinc and stainless steel kitchen hood, which is the central focus of our kitchen. We also love the proportions in the layout of our kitchen cabinets and the marble countertop. We would love to work again with Sarahliz on our next project and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great designer!

We recently renovated our house using Sarahliz Lawson Designs. She was amazing! She very quickly understood our budget, lifestyle and aesthetic and created beautiful plans for our remodel. She tailored her design to fit both our design needs and the existing structure turning our house into a beautiful, peaceful and functional space. I am amazed at how she transformed the previously cramped, tight kitchen into our huge kitchen + nook where we spend all of our family meals. We also complete redid the existing bathroom and added a new master bath and master closet. The master bath is amazing! She chose all of the tile, fixtures, lighting, countertops and vanities. Everything looks fantastic. We have been in the house for about 4 months now and I still smile every time a take a shower or cook a meal. Sarahliz and her team were very responsive and easy to work with. She always had a few options if budget was a consideration. I highly recommend Sarahliz Lawson Design for your next project.

Sarahliz Lawson Design led all of the design elements of my home build - a new construction 2-story plus basement modern home with a pool. They were the champions of our project - we're extremely happy with our home and attribute that success to SLD. SLD design/lay-out for all key spaces (kitchen, living, bathrooms) was impeccable, meaning every inch of our space is optimized/usable. They sourced perfect options for lighting, tiles, flooring, windows, doors, furniture, appliances, soft goods/decor ... everything. Every inch of the house feels perfectly appointed and carefully tailored to our style. There were countless cases where SLD's creativity got us out of binds - for example, accent wall re-design and sourcing when we preferred to reduce cost of the original design, built in media center re-design when venting needs forced down-scaling. We relied on SLD for everything and heavily trusted in their judgment throughout the project. Can't recommend Sarahliz and her team enough!

Sarahliz is amazing! From the start of our remodel in 2014/15 in Los Gatos, Ca, she guided large and small decisions with professional perfection. Our home remodel included moving walls, vaulting ceilings, coffering others, added french doors among an entire interior redo. She walked me through every decision to create balance and flow, all while making sure it was what we wanted. Our home is amazing, the kitchen gorgeous! I highly recommend her and her team!!!
