I have known Stephen Leon for many, many years. When I first met him, in addition to being an outstandingly creative and skillful interior designer he owned an exquisite custom made furniture store in Beverly Hills from which he sold the most individual and imaginative pieces of furniture and fine art. My wife and I first hired Stephen and Soleil in 2001 to help us decorate and furnish our La Canada Flintridge home, which was an elongated wood and stucco “A” Frame house with a massive “wall of glass” type living room with an expansive mountain view. All told, Stephen decorated and furnished the living room, a den, breakfast room, dining room and sitting area off the master bedroom. Stephen completely transformed our house into a stunning, yet warm, relaxing, charming and supremely livable “home.” Stephen has a remarkable eye for color, detail, texture and space, and helped us to choose paints and fabrics to complement the transformation. In 2004 we purchased a second, completely different ocean view 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom, Tuscan home in Manhattan Beach with travertine marble and wood floors throughout. So happy were we with our La Canada house that we had no hesitation in handing Stephen the task of completely furnishing this home. The contrasting styles of two homes allowed Stephen to display not only his versatility, but his detailed knowledge of Italian architecture and furniture. Since it was a completely empty house, it was a blank canvas on which to work and Stephen set about the task of transforming each room into tasteful, yet livable areas. He did such an amazing job that our house was chosen as one of the houses on display in the Sandpipers Annual Holiday Homes Tour, a charity fund raising event held every Holiday season in Manhattan Beach where interior designers’ handiwork is displayed. We love our Manhattan Beach home. Stephen was a joy to work with; patient, caring, and always available and willing to listen and share his ideas no matter how minute the issue. Not only that, he was extremely adaptable and willing to change things at a moment’s notice to take account of our own idiosyncracies.

Stephen Leon of Soleil Design is the ultimate professional. He has a keen eye for quality and was most helpful in making our house a warm and inviting place. He had the patience to guide us through the decorating process without ever making us feel inadequate. He is a wealth of knowledge and helped us find the right furniture even when the scale dictated that we have it custom made. And as well found out, custom was sometimes much less expensive ! This was our first time using a decorator and we have been thrilled with the results.
