A level of ineptitude that is remarkable. Ordered a table leaf, which arrived split down the middle. Requested a refund, first by email then by phone. Send pics, they said. I sent 2. Waited. Called again. We need pics, they said. I re-sent. I have now sent the same 2 pics FIVE times and just followed up with them again. "Looks like we're waiting for you to send pics" they said. Now looking for a concrete post to bang my head against.
INEPT. I will never again do business with Van Dyke's Restorers. Spoke to Customer Svc on Friday to place an order for brass mesh (for cabinet doors); checked inventory and i paid extra to have expedited shipping, so that I would receive on Tuesday. Got my confirmation on Friday evening. Tuesday comes, no pkg from VDR...Called Van Dykes and was told "your products are still on back order, we have not rec'd them yet." WHAT? You confirmed inventory, then charged me more to quick ship. Now you are out of inventory and didn't even bother to call or email with my info on-hand? UTTERLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND INCOMPETENT. I will never again rely on Van Dyke's Restorers for any products. They simply cannot be trusted to do as they say they will do. I will buy junk from China and trust having it shipped across the globe before dealing with the incompetence at Van Dyke's Restorers.
Received an estimate
Over the past year I’ve ordered many products. This time, ordered 6 weeks ago, they called me the day after my order to confirm the address. Four weeks later my builder still didn’t have the pulls. Called, customer service they said, I need to talk to upper management. Seems to be back ordered. Really, why didn’t they say that 4 weeks ago. I let one week go by, no contact from them. I called again, this past Monday. Again I hear I need to talk to management. I said I want to talk to management. Supervisor get on line, says she was on vacation last week, but it appears they are in stock and she will expedite the shipping. Today is Saturday, 5 days after that call. Builder still does not have the pulls, and I’ve received no communication from them. So disappointed.
Products don't come directly from them, they are just a 3rd party vendor. You are then stuck with a 20% restocking fee on any return. Much better places out there to order from...skip this one.
TERRIBLE experience. I ordered a Library Rolling Ladder Kit total cost $1,370 When it arrived it was missing 2 x Rung Supports - which were extras that I paid for. 8 x Screws for the ladder were missing And the bracelets I ordered seem not to work with the ladder rolling kit i ordered. This i guess is my fault however it would be great if on the website it said in RED ‘ONLY WORKS WITH XXX’ As now i’ve had to get my contractor to remove the bracelets and re-finish my furniture. I emailed on Sunday hoping that the problem would be addressed on Monday morning. Tuesday came and i called at 9am and was put on hold and told the system was down and nothing on Tuesday was achieved. In fact at 1 point i was told they should have an answer about missing parts with in 48hrs…. Christ were in 2017 !!!! Now its Wednesday and still nothing is solved. I’m currently on hold speaking with a young man who has put me on hold for the past 11 minutes and has told me ‘Lunch is just 30 minutes and someone higher up should be back and can call me later’ What terrible service
On January 9, 2017 we ordered over $800.00 worth of material to build a large mantle which will be finished with enamel paint. We received all but the two bottom pilasters and contacted the Co to inquire about the last 2 pieces. They told us they were backordered. We waited again for past the backorder date and was told again it was backordered for an additional 2 weeks. Once again we waited and again called after the backorder date and was told it is now backordered till April. My husband said he would buy an upgraded wood (maple) so we could get the project finished. Today we receive OAK which will not paint and will not look like the other smooth woods we purchased. This was after he called them 3 times to make sure it was right. They never tell you when things are backordered and seem incompetent in the extreme.
I ordered a very simple item online to find out after calling the company 3 weeks later that the item was on backorder and would be available in a couple weeks (no big deal, was not happy, but no big deal...) a month and a half go past, still nothing. I called again for them to tell me that the item was again backordered... "lead time for this item is 138 days"..?!?! thats over 1/3 of a year!!!! needless to day I canceled my order and will never be doing any kind of business with theme ever again.
The absolute worst. Skeleton key on website was inaccurately dimensioned and they would not reimburse me. I would not recommend buying anything from this company.

terrible company. will not help you with returns or refunds. Website makes them look like a good company but they are basically a drop shipper, and will not stand by any products.
Ordered Island legs knowing I would need to return part of the order so I was very specific about how to return and what would be the cost. When it was time to return I was informed the return policy was different when products had to be ordered from a separate vendor. After many phone calls and promises made to get back with me from a supervisor(I was never called back, I always had to call) they finally refunded my shipping. The vendor received the order back on 8/09/16 it is now 8/22/16 and my money still has not been refunded to my account even after two phone calls made by me to Van Dyke. They have yet to follow up with me by phone after many requests made to contact me by phone not email. They said the money has to clear vendor's bank(my money cleared vendor's bank in June), then their's then mine. Really?? This is how you treat your customers. My money should be refunded immediately and then Van Dyke can take up the refund owed them by their vendor. That policy is ridiculous! My experience with Van Dyke has been a headache since June!
I attempted to order material from them
I ordered materials in May and it is now late July and I still do not have the product. I've called numerous times and have been given a different story each time. Very misleading, dishonest and a complete waste of time and money. Even when calling to cancel, they couldn't confirm when the cancellation would take effect and/or when my account would be credited. Very bad business.
Purchased items for DIY project
I ordered furniture legs from Van Dyke's Restorers for a DIY project because I needed a specific height and was difficult to find. They were shipped and received quickly. I am very satisfied with their service and enjoy looking through the catalogs they mail out.
