I strongly advise against hiring Top Drawer. While Jerry, the owner, is an excellent salesperson and provides impressive initial consultations, the service deteriorates significantly after that point.
Our consultation took place in early May, but by the end of July, we decided to cut our losses due to the lack of progress. The only functional departments seem to be Estimates and Billing.
Be cautious about giving a deposit before seeing a detailed draft of your vision. Even reaching that stage requires persistent effort on your part. We left a deposit, but the design process only began after continuous follow-ups. Despite numerous requests, we never received a comprehensive plan or action outline. When we finally saw a draft and requested minor changes, which had been discussed during the initial consultation, we were charged extra for those modifications.
In summary, the initial consultation may be promising, but the follow-through is highly unsatisfactory. Proceed with caution.

We hired Jerry Tomic 4 years ago to do a costly complete renovation of our 1978 California modern home. We are seasoned home owners and have done 2 prior large home remodel projects, so we speak from experience. We now have some hindsight to keep others from making the same mistake we did. Jerry was personally very responsive and available to come onsite whenever a problem arose. Unfortunately, there were many problems we had to deal with throughout the 6 month project, most of which pertained to a under-performing sub-contracting team. Here is our list: (1) The biggest grievance is that the exterior paint job by his crew had to be totally re-done after 4 years. The paint began to chip off after the first winter and the existing wood siding was not prepped properly. (2) The plumber was sloppy and careless. We had our tub installed with the plastic coating still left on the Silestone top. The water pressure and the shower faucet heads were totally installed wrong and did not work

Thank you Fatos for the kind review! We really enjoy doing the work for you too!
I had been wanting to remodel my kitchen for almost 20 years (since I moved in! - see before pics to fully understand) but wasn't exactly sure how I wanted it done - so never pulled the trigger. I finally decided it had to happen and started to meet with design firms. From the first moment I stepped into Top Drawer (without an appointment) Rayon greeted me with such warmth, enthusiasm and excitement for my project - he had me won over. (I also loved the idea of using a local company in my home town of New Rochelle) It did not take long for him to prepare two options - presented beautifully - on large screens with lifelike images (not just blueprints which are hard to visualize). He had taken my must haves and put in elements (such as the art nook wall) I never would have thought of. We hired Top Drawer to do the complete project and were very happy we did. Although construction happened over the very hard winter - the team was there every day, and worked full days to get the project completed on schedule. The sub-contractors were professional, knowledgeable and well coordinated by Rayon. I couldn't have been happier with Dennis, who lead the construction project - incredibly nice and extrememly talented as well. They kept my home as clean as could be expected through construction - and were prompt in returning for final tweeks when the project was completed. I couldn't be happier with my new kitchen (see fosi residence at Highview on Houzz for more pics) - and would highly recommend Rayon James and Top Drawer to anyone looking for expert help with a remodel.

This past winter I decided to remodel my kitchen and was referred to Top Drawer by my contractor, it was a first for the both of us. James came to my house to go over the design with me and my husband and he was great, he spent a few hours measuring everything, a week later I met with him at his office and I felt like I was on HGTV. It was amazing with what he did with my kitchen, he presented me with an outstanding power point presentation and we went over several blue prints for each section of my kitchen. My contractors had to call him a few times and he was always available to speak with them, he even came over one cold winter night to go over something with them. I must say the staff at Top Drawer was very helpful, even after they were paid unlike most companies. My kitchen is finally done and it looks like it belongs in a magazine, thanks to James.
I would highly recommend Top Drawer.

The entire Top Drawer Team, did an awesome job, designing/building our new kitchen addition. Jerry/James/Damir, all made tremendous efforts, to ensure that our project was completed, on-schedule, on-budget. -Michael

After our first meeting with James, my husband and I knew that he was the one we wanted to design our kitchen. His energy, knowledge, skill, and creativity was exactly what we were hoping for. While we had some idea of the overall look and design for our kitchen there were certain things that we were unsure of or had not thought of at all. For example, we knew we wanted a peninsula, but James transformed the shape and overall use of the peninsula for us. He guided us and offered his insights but never dissuaded us from making our own decisions. We trusted him and he came through on all aspects of this huge home improvement. James drew up several plans for us and then worked with us to combine two of them to create a whole new plan. We were thrilled that he was able to oversee this remodeling from start to finish. He was available 24/7 and worked with us to find our backsplash, appliances and more. If something wasn't right, James made sure to let us know and did what was needed to fix it. In addition, James helped us to add finishing touches that extended past the space of our kitchen. These touches included crown molding in our entry way and dining room. We are incredibly pleased with both James, the project manager, Roberto, and their team of workers.

Comment from TOP DRAWER | Luxury Home Builder:
The operative word there in your review is INCOMPLETE. We’ve ceased work on your kitchen since payment from you was not forthcoming. We’ve made several attempts to get paid on this job but you were unable to make the payments. It is so unfair to us that you post here about the services rendered to you was unsatisfactory when we did not complete it. It’s also wrong that you and your family are enjoying a new kitchen that was delivered to your house for practically half of what it’s worth by robbing our company of payments rightfully due to us. How does that make you feel? We have the contract that you signed and it was clearly breached by you.
The construction was done poorly, plumbing and electrical was also done without consideration of where appliances location was going to be, by the time we showed up with the kitchen to install it, the ceiling was so badly done that we went out and bought you new crown molding, painted them and re-installed them at no cost to you just to correct a problem we did not create, still you refuse to pay. We’ve been in business for over 25 years, sure we are not perfect, we are going to have a few unsatisfied customers along the way, and to think otherwise would be naïve.
Let’s address your Island. First of all it was not installed at the wrong height. Your island is 36” high, your plumber installed your Rangetop with galvanise piped at the wrong height, we went back twice and told you to have it redone with a flex pipe so we can adjust the Rangetop but perhaps it was not done. Based on your review, it seems like it was not done so you patched it in with ¼” plywood. It’s hazardous and not something we would have done. Why didn’t you talk about the microwave cabinet that we reconfigure for you at NO COST because you went out and bought the wrong microwave?
In regards to the cabinets: The company who you bought your cabinets from offered to come out and look at the two cabinets that had some paint marks on them and replace them if necessary, you said it was okay and that you did not want to pull them out, the company still sent out a repair kit to you anyway.
In regards to the oven: Both you and your husband were told that the electrician put the outlet in the wrong location and he needs to come back and move it so that the oven can be push back further.
However, even after unjustly posting that negative review on an incomplete project, we’ll be more than happy to return to complete your kitchen as long as you adhere by our contract and pay what is owed to us.
Kindest Regards.

My Interior Designer Ellen Sender found Top Drawer and took me there. That day was a Blessed one for me. Ryan James was assigned to us. During our meeting I said to my self this is the right guy. He was so detailed. Ryan knows his work. Very honest and professional. The installers are great to work with also. My closets and cabinets are so outstanding. Could not have asked for a better job. Thanks Ryan for my dream closets.

I finally found a company who believes in truth, honesty and reliability...If I could give 10 stars I would. When James first came to our home to review our kitchen remodel (Home Depot's plans) his eyes opened wide and his grin was obvious...within a week he presented us with the most unbelievable makeover we could imagine. That was the beginning of a 3 month relationship that has been enjoyable and way beyond our expectations...from the demolition to the construction to the finish..remarkable doesn't describe it.
Never disappointed us with what was promised and when.
The team James put together was just as impressive. The project manager Roberto is a genius, the electricians were perfectionists, the plumber and sheet rock guys were amazing...
Long story short, our lives have been transformed by James and his team.

My Dream Kitchen Renovation
I usually don’t reviews, but wanted to share this with you! It’s like a fairy tale dream with happy ending…
It took us over two years to finally agree on a design for our kitchen. Hesitant to go with any design or designer, we never got that AWE effect from any designer we worked with. We had several designers draw out plans for us. However, there was no warm & fuzzy feeling. Exhausted from thinking about our dream kitchen, designers and contractors, we nearly gave up and wanted to rethink our investment.
Our home is a Tudor built during the roaring 20’s and the kitchen had never been renovated. It appeared like a dark box, gloomy, small and dysfunctional… With 4 children, we wanted flow; we wanted a kitchen island and wouldn’t settle without these components. We were told by every other designer that the kitchen was too small; we couldn’t do this and couldn’t do that, blah blah blah…
A friend recommended that we speak with this designer Rayan James, and we didn’t think anything of it at the time, just another appointment with another designer. WOW, were we wrong! It was not until we saw the renderings from Rayan James that we were ready to move forward! I’m getting the same chills writing this sentence just like the day when we saw our kitchen design by Rayan James on the big screen!! That AWE effect was right in front of us! Rayan listened to our ideas and was the ONLY ONE to create the most functional, useful and most beautiful design. He was able to maximize the space we had, with a layout that flowed for our entire family, he gave us what we wanted and didn’t compromise on any little detail, he fulfilled all of our needs & wants.
Rayan’s design was spot on!
The kitchen feels and looks much larger now. Rayan was able, not only to fit the island into the design, but he custom designed it for us! He was able to custom design a pub table top at one end as our eating area, he gave us a second dishwasher, a sink and wine cooler! Rayan was able to go with the flow and easily resolve any issues we came across. We couldn’t believe it! At the time he had also designed a space for a wall oven that we didn’t think we had room for. To our surprise, during demolition, we discovered an old maids staircase that was boxed out where the wall oven was to go. Another quick fix, Rayan was able to find another creative space for the oven giving us everything we originally wanted… Incredible! Absolutely Incredible!
We would highly recommend Rayan for any renovation project. He has a keen eye for design and space. He was always professional and gave us a kitchen beyond our imagination!!
Thank you Rayan!

My husband and I started our kitchen/dinette expansion and remodeling back in May and the project is finally complete. We are absolutely thrilled with the beauty, functionality and the final results of our new kitchen. We are so thankful that we selected Rayan James from Tom Drawer in New Rochelle, New York as our kitchen designer. James met with us to initially understand what we wanted in our new space and immediately took our architect plans and produced several layout options for us to select from. After several meetings, James refined a layout that was transformed into the kitchen of my dreams. The transitional custom kitchen is not only absolutely beautiful but functional and totally exceeded my expectation. James is very precise, responsive and very professional. James came over to our home several times to ensure that the measurements were exact and that there were no issues with the layout. He assisted us with the selection of cabinetry, hardware and answered many questions and texts timely, even when he was on vacation. James is precise, meticulous and very dedicated to the project that he is working on. The quality of his work is superior and he has an amazing eye for detail and design. Thank you James for making our dream kitchen a reality. We will be getting so much enjoyment in the years to come. - Maria and Ettore Tiso
