Andrew Grossman Landscape Design

Andrew designed and oversaw the installation of a large four-square garden, which features cedar fencing, three large cedar arches, a garden house, brick-edged formal beds and pea-stone garden walks. He also supervised the installation of a drip irrigation system and electricity for garden lighting. From the very beginning to the very end of this large project, it was a delight to work with Andrew. He is a professional of the highest caliber for several reasons: His attention to detail is evident in everything he did for this project. Although it was not necessary, he was on site everyday to see how the work progressed. He is creative and has a vision of what a landscape could look like that is hard to match. The project was finished in a timely manner and there were no hidden costs. Andrew's estimate was very straight-forward and if changes needed to be made (i.e. adding an extra border on the outside of the garden), he would always discuss it with us first. Another plus is the fact that Andrew knows the best contractors in the area. The craftsmanship of both the brick work and the fencing is amazing. While working on this project, Andrew was always there for us, he was punctual in all interactions and returned calls promptly. We could not be happier with Andrew's expertise, his professionalism and his the transformation of our yard and his continued support when it comes to planting the space now. Andrew's work reflects his passion for landscapes and nature and we recommend him to anyone who is looking to install, re-design or transform an outdoor space.

Andrew Grossman turned our bit of scrub grass on a city lot into a lush and enchanting Eden. It looked like a mature garden within one month of installation. He also played with scale so that our tiny plot now looks enormous. Visitors to our garden can't believe their eyes. He surpassed our expectations at every point in the process. He is a gifted artist with a depth of knowledge and a collaborative spirit. I just wish I had another property for him to transform.

Andrew was a pleasure to work with; he did what he said he was going to do, when he said it would be done, within the established budget. We have worked with many contractors over the years and that is not always the case. Andrew presented us with new ideas and a fresh design. He is knowledgable with plantings and their application. We found Andrew to be an effective and efficient project manager. Andrew efficiently coordinated the entire project from the landscape contractor and mason to the irrigation company. He is always accessible and has come back many times to check on things. We are happy with our new yard and can't thank him enough.

We hired Andrew Grossman in 2007 to re-design our entire yard. He provided us with a complete lay out plan with the names of plants and shrubs and where they would be planted. The one acre portion of our property that we were designing has areas that get full sun, partial shade and mostly shade. We were looking for an interesting and diverse planting along our property line to provide us with screening from our neighbors. The shrubs that are planted there provide screening as well as beautiful flowering shrubs that bloom throughout the growing season. Andrew also helped us to design a large perenial bed that also has beautiful blooms throughout the spring, summer and fall. The clumping of same plants together make for an interesting organization and flow. The color theme in my perenial bed is yellow, blue and red which provide a glorious show of color through each season. Another garden he helped us design, is an all white garden, in a corner section of our property. It also blooms throughout the season. Beginning with azaleas, iris, peonies, Annabelle hydrangea and a smattering of white annuals. In addition he designed the pool area with several small shrubs mixed with roses and fragrant blooms during mid summer. Each individual garden flows nicely into the next so it looks as though it was carefully planned. Andrew provided us with a realistic budget and over saw the soil preparation and planting. Seven years later our gardens are truly magnificent. I would highly recommend Andrew as his attention to all details was beyond expectation. He is very knowledgeable about all aspects of landscape design and is very open to suggestions and a true pleasure to work with.

Three years ago, we decided to complete our landscape with gardens and a pool in the backyard, quite a challenge given the steep slope and wetland restrictions. Having been delighted with the front of the house, which Andrew had previously revamped, we didn’t hesitate to retain his services both as Designer and General Contractor. The pictures speak for themselves…spectacular! Throughout the spring, summer and fall the gardens evolve with an ever-changing palette of textures and colors. Standing by the pool, our guests often gaze up toward the house with a look of awe and I wonder if they truly understand Andrew’s artistry and rare creative instincts.

For a while it was fortunate for us that the back yard was, well, in the back. The many sinkholes left from rotted tree stumps were the only places on the whole slope not weed-infested; the whole area surrounded by a tired, moss-covered and rickety fence. I think a rusting jalopy could have gone unnoticed back there. The dogs loved it, but we usually stayed confined to the deck; its moss conveniently matching that on the fence. For all the books, magazines and websites we reviewed, it was hard to know where to begin. We had an idea and knew that to do it at all we'd want it done right. Even if we possessed the skills, there was no time. Thank goodness we were referred to Andrew! With Andrew’s expert guidance and incredible foresight, we were able to arrive at a layout that suited our tastes and our budget. Before long, the orchestration began and the various players in this backyard makeover began to do their parts. The operation was a well-oiled machine. Landscapers, masons and carpenters came and went, at the right times, progressing aesthetically as they worked. The result has been a true oasis that continues to pull us from the house. It is a stark and beautiful transformation from the old. Everything continues to flourish and, by design, flowers at different times. Mainly the blossoms are white, which was Andrew’s suggestion and we totally love. It is really very hard to imagine the old back yard now without our “before” photographs. Thanks Andrew for helping to create this new, beautiful spot!

Andrew is a truly gifted and inspired designer. Our pond was an eye sore before Andrew’s vision turned it into a focal point for the garden. It is now a joy to behold in all seasons with rich hues of pinks and purples in spring and summer followed by stunning shades of russet and gold in autumn and winter. Andrew and his team are a pleasure to work with.

Andrew is an energetic and visionary Landscape Designer. My property was challenging on a number of fronts and Andrew presented a suite of ideas that were innovative and provided an insightful perspective on the space. I had Andrew implement the design and have been more than happy with the outcome. I love the garden he designed for me!
