Thank you for the spectacular job you did for our new house. We enjoy looking out the windows every day, driving up to the house and most especially swimming every morning amid the beautiful landscaping which indeed still has flowers coming and going at the end of the season. You did everything we could have possibly asked for and more and it truly enhances our house. You also were always super organized, super helpful and always responsive: true professionals.

Designscapes' landscape architect, Dan S., gave his complete attention to what we needed for our Church surroundings, giving his every effort in creating a beautiful St. Jude Shrine for our neighborhood. His employees were out there every day tearing the old down, digging, building, and planting; they did an excellent job which we are all thankful for. Dan knows his plants and trees; we have different shrubs and plants blooming at different times, making our gardens changing with color throughout the summer days. They also did an excellent job with their brick work, making paths throughout the yard. They created a beautiful Grotto with waterfall. Can't say enough good things about Dan and his team!

Dan and his amazing, hardworking crew took what we imagined and brought it to life and we couldn't be happier. From our first meeting to the final walk-through, Dan took his time and answered any questions we had and gave his professional input. We were very fortunate to have Designscapes, an award winning company, remodel our challenging backyard and now we have an amazing pool/waterfall backyard oasis. I am writing this review because I feel good companies deserve good reviews. I had the good fortune to choose Designdscapes of long island to redesign our property. After our first meeting with Dan the owner and designer, I could tell we made a great choice. Dan took the time to listen to our vision of the property and transformed it into a reality. From the beginning of the project until completion every member of the DesignScape team was courteous and professional. The grandchildren love the Pool and waterfall rockslides, while we enjoy watching them from the attached hot tub. We also added an outdoor kitchen and screed in gazebo. To start, we would highly recommend Designscapes! My husband and I were looking for Someone to help us with a few projects on our front yard. We needed a new driveway, walkway, front steps needed work, and some garden work as well as an irrigation system. We were in contact with several other companies with no satisfaction, until we met Dan and Doug of Designscapes. They came over and listened to what we needed, Dan come up with a great design and ideas. The project was worked in stages with Dan overseeing the work every step of the way. He scheduled each step as it progressed, my husband and I did not have to deal with that aspect. His team of workers are top notch! Very knowledgeable, professional craftsmen, we cant say enough about what a great experience it was to have worked with Designscapes and its crew of employees. We have a few more projects that we will be calling Designscapes for. They put my faith back in how a business should be run.

So the internet can be a tricky place, you hear horror stories from people getting scammed, or just not happy with the company they chose, so you can imagine how hesitant i was picking a company to do our landscaping when i decided to go "out" of the neighborhood known companies to try and get something different. I stumbled upon Designscapes on Houzz , and after reading all the great reviews decided to set up an appointment with the owner Dan. We met a week later, i was super comfortable with him and hired him to design our landscaping, Lighting and irrigation on the entire property (1 acre) few weeks later, we sat down to look over his Dan's design, within the first minute both my wife and I looked at each other, nodded and told Dan he has the job. this guy is SUPER talented, he listened to what we wanted to accomplish and executed a plan that was perfect! the guy killed it. several weeks after that meeting, his crews began work. what equally amazed us was all his crews were equally professional, always making sure to clean up after themselves on a daily basis, site manager met us each morning to review what they were doing, and on and on. i cannot RECOMMEND Designscapes enough, everyone who passes our house, all neighbors, friends want to know who did this masterpiece. i have referred dan to 1 family member and 3 friends looking to do work and i will continue to recommend him to everyone. after a few weeks past, he came back removed all the bushes that didn't take bc of shock an replaced without us even saying a thing. we love these guys. use them, do not be scared bc you found them online. you will not be happier with the results. I never write reviews, positive or negative, but I rely heavily on them for companies and products. I decided to write a review for Designscapes of Long Island because of the wonderful experience we had with them. After getting our cesspool replaced, our backyard was a mess. After doing a Google search for my area, we called many different landscapers and had a handful of estimates. The owner Dan came himself to do the estimate and we could just tell that he was so much more knowledgeable than the others. He educated us about roots and gave us so many great ideas. His communication before, during, and after the project was amazing. I NEVER had to track him down or email twice with the same question. Even after our project was complete and paid for Doug continued to answer my questions. The prices are reasonable, but more importantly the professionalism and follow through from this company is like none I have experienced before. Designscapes of Long Island comes with my highest recommendation. We will absolutely be using them for our future projects.

I built a house 10years ago and had extensive landscaping done by Dan from Designscapes. I live on the north shore and there were a lot of huge boulders which they used to design into my pond which is very unique and the pond made it into a home magazine. I have used them for a couple of other projects since and have recommended them to friends. Great company to work with and the owner is an amazing landscape designer.....very happy with them.

I have known Dan for over 20 years. His landscape designs and installations are always executed on time, on budget and with meticulous care. From the most formal design to the humble renovations, the right job is done, every time. I highly recommend Designscapes. Relationship: Client Project Date: Summer 2015-Summer 2016 Project Price: more than $100,000 Dan Steigerwald from Designscapes We bought our house in Southampton in May 2015 and before we knew it we were involved in a total gut renovation both inside and out. We engaged Dan Steigerwald/Designscapes to handle the landscaping design work and he did a tremendous job. We were not really sure what we wanted nor what we could do given there is a pond on the property and thus ‘wet land’ issues were going to play a role. After having an initial meeting with Dan, we decided to do the front yard first as it did not require any permitting and start the permitting process for the backyard. The front yard was really not landscaped or particularly cared for and the sidewalk/steps needed replacing. Dan put together a fantastic design keeping the ‘in the woods’ theme while creating some structure and texture with moss covered rocks and bluestone. The project encompassed, walk-way design, plantings, driveway enhancements (apron/gravel/outline), an irrigation system, and lighting. He completely transformed the property and increased our privacy. It is fantastic and we are thrilled. With regard to the backyard, Dan has been working with us, our environmental expeditor, and the land surveyor tirelessly to get the appropriate approvals to clean up the back yard and dock-area. This process has been quite time consuming and frustrating. Dan’s patience and cooperation with all the players has been extraordinary. We are hoping to get this part of the project underway soon. Dan runs a very creative, professional, understanding, flexible, and most importantly an honest operation. He presented a plan, a reasonably priced budget, and timetable and kept to all three. His workers were professional, detail oriented, and clean – They made sure we and our dogs could navigate the property on the weekends despite work being in progress. Over the summer when some of the plantings did not survive, Dan came in assessed the situation and made appropriate changes. He accommodated us on every level and our experience has been outstanding. We have and will continue to recommend Dan Steigerwald/Designscapes and would be happy to speak to anyone who is thinking of using them for landscape design.

After several other estimates, we hired Designscapes to create out backyard patio. Dan's creativity and ideas were above all others. The price was not the cheapest, but the quality of work and the professionalism of the staff made it worth the price. They showed up when they said they would, and were done on time. The crew was spotless in cleaning up every day. We are so happy with the finished product, we would recommend Designscapes to anyone looking for a unique, quaility project, with no hassles along the way.

Amazing work. Dan and and his team were professional, courteous, and organized. Dan is extremely knowledgable and easy to work with. Our project included building a living wall, flattening the pitch in part of the backyard, stonework and adding trees to make an enclosed area for our kids. We love our backyard and could not have picked a better person to work with. I highly recommend using Dan.

After speaking with several companies last Spring, we choose Designscapes to design our property. We did a full renovation to our home and nothing made more of an impact than our beautiful landscaping. After explaining our aesthetic and vision, we were given blueprints that exceeded our expectations. We ripped up the driveway, planned for more space and symmetry, planted new trees, bushes and flower gardens. Dan Steigerwald from Designscapes designed and installed a bluestone patio, pool, hot tub, bar and BBQ area as well as landscaping 1.5 acres of our property in Montauk NY. The Deck is approximately 5000 square feet with 3500 Square Feet of bluestone, the pool is 20 fee by 40 feet with a beautiful waterfall, the outdoor gourmet kitchen is 30 feet in length. There is accent lighting all around our patio and property that compliments the design as well as the existing trees/landscaping . The landscaping is something you would see in a magazine. After initially meeting with Dan, he interviewed us to see what features were on our wish list. A week later Dan and I had met and he showed me proposed plans, I was truly blown away that he understood and incorporated every feature/detail we wanted to incorporate in our project. He commenced work in early spring as we discussed and completed the project on time and on budget prior to the beginning of the summer season. Dan is an extremely talented designer with an eye for the fine details. He personally oversaw every aspect of our project, he made sure we were satisfied with all phases of the design/construction and took the stress for a building project of this size off of us. Since our project was completed in June 2013, Dan has called me periodically to check on the work he completed and see if there were any issues that need to be addressed. To date, other than a low voltage lighting problem we had there have been no issues. Dan had the lighting issue fixed is 48 hours (it was a circuit breaker that tripped). I would recommend Dan and his company Designscapes to anyone I know contemplating a project for their home.

We hired Designscapes to: 1 - Replace our driveway and patio 2 - Install new walkways 3 - Replace our front and back steps 4 - Install an irrigation system 5 - Regrade the property, put down sod and create planting beds. We had an initial meeting with Designscapes, giving them a rough idea of what we wanted. Next week they had crafted a fantastic design plan for us with a budget, time estimate and estimated start date. They included some suggestions that we didn't even think about. They even gave us a list of suggested plantings for the flower beds. The project started when promised and finished within their time estimate. The price was exactly what was promised. There were no additional costs. The workers were here everyday and quite professional. The work is excellent and we have had no issues with the workmanship or materials used. All of our neighbors have commented on on how great the property now looks.

My wife and I needed to do something with our backyard. We were in a new development for 7 years the builder just put in grass. We wanted to do something but had very and poor drainage and were afraid any landscaping wouldn't take due to the poor conditions of the soil and slope. Our challenge to Dan at DesignScapes, was to correct the poor soil conditions and create something truly special and unique in our backyard as a peaceful and playful extension of our home. Dan fixed our drainage problem and expertly designed a backyard space which we love! He put in a hot tub and spa area, along with a waterfall, walkways, lighting, a cabana and a year-round ice rink! Yup, I know it sounds crazy, but my wife wanted something different and didn't want a pool. So Dan worked with us and the manufacture to install and design a custom ice rink that we use year round. (the Cabana is more like a Chalet, given Dan's creativity and design) You think you're in the middle of the forest at a resort in Utah! The Designscape Crews were professional, always on time and we were kept abreast of the job, along with any changes or issues that came up. We were always part of the process. I would recommend Dan and his team for any job, big or small. His ideas are unique and never cookie-cutter, the job you get will have the look and feel that you always dreamed of!

I typically complain when I hire outside help, but not this time. I hired Designscapes to tear down and remove an old 200 foot long seawall and replace it with a brand new one. It is clear that Designscapes brings experience to the table. The seawall wasn't just replaced, because it now looks like an inviting area of the property. All of our neighbors along the beach area have commented on how impressive the completed job looks. This was a very large project, and any issues that came up during the demolition/rebuild were taken care of no questions asked. I have already recommended Designscapes to neighbors and friends and will continue to do so.

Dan Steigerwald of Designscapes and his team provided us with a complete design and installation of our back yard garden that included a new pool, limestone patio with several levels and a bbq island, complete landscaping, and lighting.
