Totally awful experience with Hively. They were disrespectful of the property. They worked around our home for several months and never took any precautions to prevent damage to our property. They ran bobcats up and down our driveway without putting down plywood to protect the concrete. They cut an electrical line and denied it even though I saw them do it. I would never hire them to do a job for me or recommend them to anyone.

We moved to Plainfield this spring and quickly realized after the snow melted that our patio had settled greatly since it had been installed 10 years ago, and needed to be replaced. Doug from Hively Landscaping was the only return call we received as we sought out landscape help. We couldn't have been more pleased with this company's quick response and professional but very friendly attitude; their workers were diligent and cleaned up their work area (and even the street) nicely each evening before they left, and they did a great job. It was a pleasure working with Doug as he monitored the work in progress and even delivered several extra pavers a month after the job was completed. We would be quick to recommend this company!

My wife and I have been talking about updating our landscaping for over 10-years and we finally made the decision this year to move forward with our plans. The biggest road block preventing us from getting started was finding a trust-worthy company willing to work with us to design (and re-design) our project. Hively Landscaping came recommended from a co-worker and we couldn't have been more pleased with our decision to hire them for our project. We worked with Michelle from their company and she was absolutely wonderful to work with from day one. She was patient with our multiple design changes and did a great job providing us with current plans and estmates that reflected our ever changing design. We had a very challenging design due to the contours of our yard and they created a design that maximized the available space. The quality of the installation exceeded our expectations and Michelle and the owner made several viits to our property during the installation to monitor quality and progress. Hively Landscaping did an excellant job with the following: 1)Customer service; 2)Honesty; 3)Design capabilities; 4)Plant selection knowledge; and 5)Quality. If you can afford to pay a slight premium for the above services then Hively Landscaping is a GREAT choice!

Services included a hillside landscape including natural stone steps, plantings and setting of landscape lighting. Four fifteen foot existing arborvitae and existing flagstone steps needed to be removed to accommodate the new installation. Hively surveyed the existing conditions and worked with the owner to provide a plan with material and plant selections that were incorporated into a drawing. The site was inaccessible to any type of equipment so the large and heavy stones required hand placement, a grueling task. The Hively Landscaping personnel were very responsive to our needs and timetable. They truly wanted us to be pleased with the outcome. They tailored the plan to stay within our budget. Workmanship and supervision was excellent. We are pleased with Hively Landscaping and our new hillside. We highly recommend them to anyone needing landscaping services.

Hively Landscaping addressed two areas on our property that were overgrown, outdated, unappealing eyesores. The first location was immediately outside our back patio door. Our old wood deck and unsightly yard have been replaced with a larger cedar wood deck (complete with pergola), stone paver patio complimented with stone seat walls, multiple levels of landscaping and topped off with accent lighting. Secondly, they addressed the front entrance to our house. The busted concrete sidewalk, overgrown evergreen bushes and other unsightly landscaping was replaced with an awsome stone walkway bordered by brick pavers (matching our backyard patio), stone outcropping, multiple bushes, grasses and flowers all topped off with perfectly placed accent lighting. The transformation they created is nothing short of fantastic. Multiple positive comments from neighbors and guests confirms that hiring Hively Landscaping was the right thing to do.

Hively Landscaping came out for a consultation after our above ground pool collapsed. They worked with us to provide a design for our backyard that met our needs and budget. Their designers came up with a plan that was perfect for our yard. The knowledge of the owner, along with the designers, as well as the workers, was exceptional. Everyone was friendly, hard working, with all deadlines being met. They provided hardscape, landscape, and a cedar deck with pergola in our backyard. In the front yard they provided a brick walkway, new landscaping with outcropping stones. The street appeal of our house increased greatly.

We hired Hively Landscaping to build a bluestone patio with a limestone wall at the front of our house this summer and are very happy with the results. We received proposals from several different landscapers and are very happy that we chose to go with Hively Landscaping. Our project wasn't very large but as it would be a focal point at the front of our house, we were very careful about having it blend with the look and feel of the rest of our house. We still get compliments on the patio from visitors and neighbors at least once a week. Would definitely recommend this company for design, quality of work and competitive pricing.

We had quite a large project that involved 4 areas of entertaining, an area on the beach which has a fire pit, two seating areas and a bar/grill center. The hardscape was built with flagstone, fieldstone and boulders with a variety of softscape and accent lighting. Matt's customer service was outstanding. Not one time in the 2.5 month project did he not answer his phone when we had questions. When modifications needed to be made, he was flexible and always willing to provide constructive ideas/suggestions. He has a phenomenal staff working for him. When the men were on site, they worked hard, were courteous, and always left the job site neat and clean. His landscape architect Michelle has such vision and creativity. She goes the extra mile to make sure every detail of her design come to life. Both Matt and Michelle were on the job site regularly to make sure all was running smoothly. The final project exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend Matt and his staff and plan on using him for further projects - hopefully next summer!

Great company! We got five estimates and Hively's price and design couldn't be best! They met with us a number of times and provided an accurate description of the work. They allowed us to make changes as we went along. They finished the work on time. The outcome looked just like the design. We will be using them again to finish our backyard. Very highly recommended!

We were very pleased with the work done by Hively Landscaping. We encountered positive experiences in communicating with the entire staff from the design consultant to the workers. When I needed to contact them, my questions were answered quickly and in a professional manner. We love our new landscaping and could hardly wait for next spring/summer/fall to enjoy the entire season surround by beauty and tranquility. In fact, we enjoyed the experience so much we had them do some landscaping for our business also.

We hired Hively Landscaping last summer to make improvements to our yard. They were very professional, knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. Knowing only that we needed a change, and not knowing where to begin, Dawn - landscape architect, was able to produce a beautiful suggestion that we were able to adjust to our liking. Based on their great work we came up with some other ideas in other parts of our yard and will be calling them to do additional work. Thank You Dawn & Hively!!

After years of indecision (and admitted landscape neglect!) we finally walked across the street to a neighbor's house of which we liked their plantings and asked for the name of their landscapers.... Hively! After an initial design consulation with Marybeth, who listened so patiently to all my rambling, we had to postpone a season for budgetary reasons. When we were finally ready, Marybeth refered us to Dawn to take a fresh look at things. Dawn was also incredibly patient, completely informative, terrific listener & a great mediator for me and my husband ;) You can sense her creativity and enthusiasm immediately. Perfect mix of cool and collected! Dawn was able to put a design together to best compliment the positive aspects that she saw in our home. She was able to interpret our mix of thoughts and jumbled ideas while respecting our budget and making the most of it with plant/material choices. Plans were nicely detailed and there was never a shortage of communication during the process. The crew was very polite and kept things tidy and efficient for sure. Chad was very responsive to my husband's questions and any concerns we had. Dawn arrived on site the day of planting to make sure things were going according to plan and to make notes of any missing materials etc. Great follow through and follow up/response to questions on plant care once it was all in. We appreciated their knowledge, flexibility and attention to customer care and it was an overall terrific experience. Would gladly recommend!
