We knew that lighting was going to be important to our remodel, but Nelson's contribution to the final results was truly transformative. He brought technical expertise, knowledge of cutting edge innovations, and a really great eye to the work. Not only did he see potential of our space, he appreciated our personal aesthetics while also pushing us to consider new ideas and perspectives. Nelson found solutions to lighting challenging architectural elements of our living room that are now some of our favorite details, gave our library cozy and intimate glow, created a spa atmosphere in the primary bath, and beautifully and subtly highlighted art throughout our home. Finally, at the tail end of the project he offered some suggestions for exterior lighting that brought the magic of our garden to life at night! As we continue to expand and improve our yard, we will absolutely bring Nelson back into the work at the earliest stages to get the full benefit of his approach.

We just completed an extensive remodel, requiring gutting most of our house and completely redoing the lighting. While working on the lighting plan, I realized I was in way over my head, and the quality of light – particularly in the evenings – is very important to me. I wanted to change most of the fixtures to LED, but I wanted the lighting to be the really beautiful, warm lighting that I’ve loved with my previous halogen lights. I looked around on Houzz and decided to call Nelson Reeds, and I’m so glad I did! He quickly and fearlessly jumped into a complex project that was underway, and from the first phone call put me at ease that we could achieve what I was hoping for. Nelson is a great listener, asking me questions about what I wanted, and talking through potential solutions. He gave great explanations with just enough detail to help me understand and make decisions. He’s great at taking notes and getting back quickly on all of the things he says he’ll do – which is unfortunately not as common a trait as it should be. The electrician said he’s the best and easiest lighting designer he’s ever worked with. And he literally followed up on even the smallest details – including an evening spent focusing all of the lights, and a great spreadsheet of the proper bulbs for all of my fixtures. Most important of all, he created an absolutely beautiful lighting design. I can’t describe how gorgeous these dim-to-warm LED lights are! They’re bright white during the day, but as they’re dimmed, they create a glowing ambiance. I’m so happy to have found Nelson, and I can’t recommend him highly enough!

Nelson did a fantastic job with our whole home remodel! His design ideas and suggestions took our basic concept to a much higher level. Nelson was very responsive when we had questions and his documentation made it easy for contractors to pull the design together in practice.
