About Us

I am a corporate refugee. After years of marketing some of the biggest brands in the world, I decided to follow my passion for fine woodworking and furniture making. From my shop on Cape Cod in Chatham, MA, I focus on custom furniture and cabinetry for discerning customers. Although I produce bespoke designs for most clients, I am developing a line of furniture for purchase. The first item is the Bedford Chair.

We had a terrific experience with Novita and ended up with a beautiful and unique table, bench and set of chairs -- -all from the same tree! Don was able to take our somewhat vague ideas of what we wanted and create distinct models for us to view and iterate. It was fun and educational and we ended up with a perfect design. We are very pleased with the end result -- truly functional pieces of art.

From start to finish, my experience with Novita has been excellent. My original home office was squeezed into a small bedroom and was impractical as a work space. A detailed and thoughtful design phase with Novita's owner resulted in a plan that takes advantage of every usable inch of space and gracefully accommodates all of the electronics that come with a relatively complex home office. Aesthetically, the office is a masterpiece. The choice of woods (Siberian elm for the waterfall desk, curly yellow birch and maple for the bookshelves and side table) are certainly eye catching, but more importantly to me, they all work together beautifully as a whole and make for a very motivating and comfortable work space. While I am not a carpenter, it is hard not to be impressed with the exquisite workmanship and attention to detail. All in all, I couldn't be happier.

Don did a great job on my home office. The design was creative and original. The stand up/sit down desk works flawlessly. He carefully took into account all my requirements. The workmanship is exceptional and the project came in on time and on budget. Highly recommend.

If you are looking for custom-made furniture or built-ins (pretty much anything made out of wood), I highly recommend Novita Design. Don (the owner) is as creative as he is meticulous. I verbally described what I was envisioning, (which was something I couldn't find anywhere) he quickly provided sketches with measurements, and the final product exceeded my expectations. I will definitely use him again.
