Kitchen Makeover ...
Comments (7)Thank you so very much for the nice note here, Paradise Restored Landscaping and Exterior Design... that has been an ongoing project for me outside and that will be the next major renovation hopefully next year. LOVE LOVE LOVE your link to your website as it truly provides me with inspirational thoughts which are bouncing around in my head.... THANKS ALOT FOR THAT ONE! HA HA HA... everything I do seems to be more bells and whistles than not. I started on the replacement of the rear deck a couple summers ago... and seems like other things come up that took precedence since then. I designed a beginning level deck with the center of this one where it's reinforced to be removed so that we can put a nice hot tub in it's place then plan to add to it another step down to two lower levels including the ground level of pavers which host a firepit maybe tied in to natural gas... and then I plan on building a nice barbecue area, small covered area and a wall in which a waterfall becomes the focal point... all in the planning stages and hope it turns out as nice as some of the things you have already done. Wow... truly nice work!...See MoreFinal touches for our living and dining and we can't agree
Comments (50)Well we r back from hols so thought I would post an update.. Walked back into house and disliked the orange bits I had added in the living room... So they have gone... I know lots of u said 2 accents better than one but I just can't do it:-) the skin is down and the ottoman has arrived and I love it. New dining chairs arrive today and no rug will be under the table... Just didn't look right .. The alfresco is nearly finished just waiting on the glass splashback and the stools and I will then be able To post some after pics... We have gone with the orange outside instead so hopefully will look good when finished :-...See MoreFruit Trees
Comments (93)We reside in Chicago, but our heart is out west. About ten years ago my husband had a Meyer lemon tree shipped to us. In lives out side from May through October inside through the winter where we enjoy the fragrance of its blooms if you are not familiar think gardenia. We average about 40 lemons a year we do share some while most are used for lemon drop martinis. It is a pleasure to share with the locals that citrus has varieties and for those who are very unfamiliar a band-aid after they encounter a spike. For those who are having trouble growing their lemon trees ours is potted, we use only organic potting soil and citrus food. We did pay more for a larger tree and had lemons the second year....See MoreFinal Touches – Small Living Room Footprint
Comments (649)Thanks Flo for your kind wishes. Seajay – some of those lighted easels are very expensive! Maybe a “hack” is the way to go. Wayfair, Overstock etc. have lots of nice easels that are reasonably priced & you could add either a clamp on light or frame mounted light that, paired with the easel, will create the same effect without investing a lot of money yet still highlight your sister’s beautiful painting - she's very clever by the way; I envy her artistic ability! Samples of these picture lights : http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/90310159/ https://www.pegasuslighting.com/picture-lights/14in-30w-incandescent-slimline-picture-light.html Frosted – I recall participating in a similar dilemma on Houzz sometime back & an inexpensive solution to highlighting the piece of art was colour blocking. Read thread about halfway down - [https://www.houzz.com/discussions/where-should-this-painting-be-hung-dsvw-vd~4093267[(https://www.houzz.com/discussions/where-should-this-painting-be-hung-dsvw-vd~4093267) You can easily test out the effect of a black floating frame or colour blocking by purchasing a couple of pieces of black cardboard & temporarily placing them on the wall with blu tack or painters tape with the art on top. This will show you the effect of adding black to the art & if this is a possible solution for you...See Moreoldherb
