Delicatus Granite slab pics

We finally went looking at 2 granite yards last week, lots to look at but I was drawn to Delicatus (or Juparana Delicatus) and Sienna Bordeaux. Forgot to get a pic of Sienna Bordeaux but I took a few pics of slabs that interested me.

Anyone care to show off their Delicatus kitchen so I can visualize???

well, it's not in my kitchen, but I have delicatus in my girls' bathroom and the laundry!

My vote- #2 or #3, but I have copper canyon, so I am in love with the graining.
Mairin/your bathroom is lovely! My question,, where is the make up, curling iron, straightener and blow dryer? That is what my daughters' bathroom has in it. lol

I have a large quartzite island (with lots of movement in the stone) and a seam was required. It is quite noticeable but I love my quartzite so much that I'm OK with the seam. But, if I was making the decision again, I think I'd skip the seam and use the butcher block at one end. If you used the butcher block often, you might need to have that portion replaced every 5 or 10 years, but that wouldn't be too bad. There are lots of sources for custom butcher blocks. The look would be quite nice. On a different topic, if you like the look, have you considered paying a bit extra to have the slab leathered. I did that with my quartzite and I LOVE the look! Another option to handle the seam is to buy a quite nice butcher block and just store it on the counter above the seam - that's what I did and it covers about two thirds of the seam. It's beautiful but very busy. It will demand attention so my advice would be to keep the rest of the kitchen clean and simple. Let it grab all the attention it wants! lol

My neighbor has white granite and when she moved her toaster oven to clean, she could see a definite darkening of all the granite between her sink and toaster oven on counter. The granite under the toaster oven was white and not stained. The fabricator tried everything to remove the darkening stain on granite adjacent to sink. Finally it was decided to do a gradual darkening of granite where toaster oven had been sitting to blend with stained granite. Moral of the story: DO NOT SPRAY YOUR MUFFIN PANS ETC WITH PAM OVER YOUR GRANITE OR IN THE SINK. The over spray mist will stain your granite in a big way. And you probably won't notice it until it's too late.

Hi! i had this going on with arctic ice granite. i posed my question in a decorating panel FB group and someone suggested using paper towel wetted with peroxide and Dawn. it seemed the least invasive method and id already tried the baking soda paste (which never ever works for me).. by morning, it was neon orange (yikes) but the paper towels were dry and pink. i repeated it on new towels and by lunch, the stain is lifted in parts where others spots are beige...ill try it again, then seal it. i have no idea how it happened. i dont splash as much as my husband, and his sude us ok. it might have been my contact solution that rested there.

No photos to share, but just wanted to say that I absolutely love the Ambrosia White! I don't think I have seen that one before, but the swirls and chunks of garnet are fabulous.

Hi,
We just installed "Splendor", supposedly a type of delicatus. We originally had a delicatus reserved w/ a deposit and it was "sold out from under us." Talk about grief! It was the 1st thing we chose, so many choices were made around it. We tried to find something similar and are happy with it. Here are some pics of it in various stages. Oops! Looks like I still don't know how to post photos...they're all different sizes...

Delicatus is a stone that varies quite a lot. Some of it is mostly white (as prestonbeary) posted and some has much more color and movement. I LOVE the wild movement! So even though I adore delicatus and have it in my own kitchen, I prefer the slab of Mars Calzone Latino shown above because of all the movement and variety within the stone.

Here's my delicatus kitchen. I used two slabs that were not an exact match of each other, but close enough. Then I needed to locate a 3rd slab to do my bar, window sill (kitchen and living room) and the fireplace hearth. The 3rd slab was not a good match, but I liked it even better because it had more quartz deposits in it. My bar actually has a large spot of smokey quartz that you can shine a light all the way through.

A big Thank You to all who replied with pics of their kitchens! The delicatus looks good with dark cabinets - nice contrast.

Any pics of light cabinets with a Delicatus? My cabs are off white/yellowish painted. I was hoping to see that combo?

Someone recently posted pics of Delicatus with white cabinets and it was stunning!! I can't remember who it was though. I have white trim on my living room window and the sill is delicatus and the combination is wonderful together. I was really surprised.

Gosh, all of those are great choices. I liked the first one, personally. I think the Ambrosia is nice, but it doesn't have the movement of the others. Good luck!

I love those granites, the Delicatus & dark cabinets- beautiful. I like the Mars Calzone Latino & Persian Sun best out of the slabs pictured at the top. I'm a sucker for lots of movement & color.
