Transplanting violets

I have violets volunteering all over my yard and was wondering, can I transplant them to a better area and use them as ground cover? I am assuming they are wild as they are just popping up everywhere, however I have different colors. Dark purple, white, with with soft purple stripes and white with a purple blushed throat.
