Neo Angle showers: pros and cons??
Comments (1)It depends on the size of the neo-angle shower, but most I've seen (been in) I agree with your friend. They can also be too small for taller men to raise their arms in too. The bigger question is, how much money do you want to spend to remove the bath tub? If you replace the tub with a shower and utilize the current drain and water valve location you will save yourself money right off the bat. The water valve will have to be moved to a higher location, but straight up is cheaper than different wall. From a resale standpoint, bathrooms and kitchens are very important. A large (enough) luxury shower could be the icing on the cake, if you have another bath tub somewhere else in the house. The lack of a tub does limit the buyer pool....See MoreMr. Steam shower- pros/cons for AirButler and MS Butler controls?
Comments (4)I guess I wasn’t much better. We ended up going with Steamist model based on recommendation from our builder. In retrospect we probably would’ve went with the Thermasol unit. The unit works fine, we just had issues with our builder putting the steam outlet too close to the temperature control unit. It causes it to not get as hot as it probably should. Good, just not great. Also if you’re able, consider the wifi option. So many times it would’ve been nice to remote start a steam (of course the door has to be closed). Good luck, please let me know if you have any specific questions. Will try and keep an ear out. Sorry for flaking out Tracy....See MoreNeed pros and cons of curbless shower please
Comments (10)You can use a 3/4" thick tile threshold as the divider between the bath floor and the shower floor. That will stick up only about 3/8" above the other tile surfaces and the glass door should be centered on the threshold. Your space is pretty small for a curbless shower but it is not unheard of either. I would make sure that the contractor and tile setter are well versed in how to create a curbless shower and the various products available. An untrained/inexperienced individual can ruin it quickly. Ask for references on past projects that include curbless showers and contact the references. If you can go see one then that is even better. Comments (9)The plumber put where the hose attaches to the wall at 44" high in my mom's shower (not sure of the technical term). The usable space on the slide bar goes from 48"-70" above the shower floor. (She also has a fixed head at 79.5" above the shower floor). Nobody asked us. The plumber and contractor just put them there and it works well for both of us as far as adjusting the handheld lower/higher and including how the shower hose drapes/loops and how far it reaches. FWIW, she has a 63" techniflex hansgrohe shower hose. (BTW, she is 5'4" and I am 5'6".) Right now we are in the final stages of a hall bath remodel. Just had an alcove tub before (no plumbing for shower). Now will have an alcove tub/shower with a fixed shower head and handheld. Same plumber and contractor. But this time they put where the hose attaches to the wall at approx 40" high (I think because of the other valve components being lower maybe? Not sure.). Fixed head still at 79.5" high. Not sure how high the slide bar will be mounted. But it's the same hansgrohe set up as my mom with a 63" hose. Except I'm doing a Speakman shower head and Moen Twist handheld that I hope will fit onto the hansgrohe slidebar. My mom has the hansgrohe raindance S 150 which is nice but I want to try out the speakman and the moen has a couple settings I like. I'm hoping for more force from the speakman. I want to feel pummeled by water in the shower; I don't want a gentle drenching. ETA: In our weirdly narrow and short basement bathroom, I just have a waterpik handheld up on the wall. I find that easy to use too as far as the hose reach and hanging down. Occasionally it catches on the shower control but probably because the showerhead height is so low due to the ceiling height. Nothing in that bathroom is to code. The original owner of the house sort of put it together himself as an afterthought because his wife wanted him to shower downstairs and clean up before entering the rest of the house after working outside, etc....See Moredaneejela
