I would not choose that as a kitchen backsplash. A backsplash is supposed to be wipeable since it is where cooking splashes hit - thats why it’s named ”backsplash”. Also, long narrow tiles are very dated from around 2005.

You should not move the cabinets but you should remove the decorative stuff from on top of them. Don't put the backsplash tile above the cabinets, just paint.
