My door step is always crowded with shoes that can trip you. Ho do I curb this problem?

Pinky, you do what they do in China, Japan, SE Asia, India and everywhere else in the world (i.e., most of it) where it is customary to remove one's shoes before entering the house: you put a small bookcase-like piece of furniture right in the entryway where the shoes will be removed. Anything will do--wood, metal whatever suits your taste. Shelves mounted at a low height are fine, too. The person removing his or her shoes can put the shoes right on the shelves.

All the above and then the latest that began a couple years back after 35 years of marriage - standing with the fridge door wide open for several minutes consuming everything possible and as fast as possible, with residual remains all over the fridge area and floor. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, it does!
