Alphabet Wall Art Transitional Nursery, Austin

An eclectic mix of colors and patterns were used to create the art above our baby's bed. Most of the letters were covered in scrapbook paper or painted with acrylic paints. The quilt was made by my daughter, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law.

I found the letters at a variety of places, most of them from Hobby Lobby, though. I either painted them or covered them in scrapbook paper.

Hi Lexi, thanks for your interest.... This quilt was a one time collaborative effort as we all live in different cities. The pieces were from a short stack of a material line that came out over 5 or 6 years ago. I'm not sure what it was called but it came precut in those squares. It was just straight line sewing to piece it. I'll see if I can find the name of the material line.

Lexi, the fabric line was called Recess by American Jane. It looks like it's hard to find, but it's still available some places. I even found a quilt made out of the fabric, though it doesn't have the Orange trim. Here's the link, though:

The ceiling is slightly darker than the white stripes. I didn't want to tackle painting the ceiling, so I just left it the original color.

Hi there! I'm sorry to say that I used nails to attach the letters, so the wall probably looks like Swiss cheese. A lot of the letters are light enough, though that an adhesive strip might work just as well.

Adhesive strip is a great idea. Thanks! Although with the number of things that are going up in my girls' room, its definitely going to be a swiss cheese wall scenario :)

Thanks! The grey is called 'Castle Path' and the white is 'Snow Drift' I think ....snow something. I can't find the paint can, but when I do, I'll let you know. They're both by Behr from Home Depot.

I just used a hammer and nails. It's probably not the best solution, but the nail holes are pretty small so it won't be hard to touch up.

Hi there! I just used a roller and painter's tape. I went back with the base color and small paintbrush to touch up any leaks.

Need help choosing between marble countertop and others - I love marble but I'm worried about staining or other wear and tear. I looked into ceasarstone but it appears all these can scratch and stain.

Granite Grannies
True. There is no countertop material that is completely free of risk of scratching. Granite is virtually impossible to stain or scratch, and you can't hurt it with heat either. White it's not guaranteed that your marble will stain or scratch, it's more likely that you will get nick and small discolorations along the way. Many stains can be easily removed if you do it within a few days. Many clients believe that bit of wear and tear (that may or may not happen, some people have it for years without any marks) is worth the natural beauty of marble. Have you looked at any Quartzites? Quartz (caesarstone is quartz) is a man made material, but quartzite is a completely natural material that's quarried like marble or soapstone. It tends to look like marble, but is usually harder than granite.
