Chevy Chase Kids BathTraditional Bathroom, DC Metro

This bathroom is teeny tiny, and we couldn't change the original footprint. But using quality materials and light finishes made it feel new and bright, and perfectly suited to the elegance of the house. Beveled white tile, lots of Carrara marble, polished nickel fixtures, and period sconces all played a role in this spectacular facelift.

Small elegant kids' subway tile and black and white tile marble floor bathroom photo in DC Metro with marble countertops, purple walls, shaker cabinets, white cabinets, an undermount sink and an undermount tub —  Houzz

Similar cabinet available at Lowe's under $500.00 with top.
  • lmcasasanta
Who makes this cabinet? This size is perfect but the ones displayed have a plain white top?

Are the sconces in the picture chrome or polished nickel? I am ordering a vanity that comes with polished nickel hardware. Would u get the same finish for the faucet and lighting or would u mix it up? Chrome faucet would be much cheaper!!

It's generally ok to have the sconces and faucet in chrome and the vanity hardware (which can be easily changed) in polished nickel. Polished nickel is warmer than chrome. Good luck!

That looks like Carrara Venatino (marble) or Super White (soft quartzite).

It is Carrara marble. A particularly pretty slab! Thanks for your question.

The client had special needs that required an open tub in a very small space. But either a curtain or glass panel can be easily added later.

How do you add a door to beveled tile?

This is a custom Carrara marble top from our local fabricator. You can find something similar in your area. Thank you for the question!

Thanks for your question. That's a Kohler Tea for Two tub, and it comes in a few sizes depending on your space. Good luck!

It's beadboard with a trim cap, installed by our builder. You can find similar at your local building supply store.

Thanks for your question. I don't have an exact measurement, and every county will have its own construction codes governing clearance.

Thanks for your question! When this bathroom was finished, the twins hadn't quite been born yet. So for a long time they were bathed by their parents. Now of course, they use a shower curtain and I'm sure there is a fair amount of splashing! But I'd still rather have a shower curtain with small kids than a glass panel.

Thanks for your question. In a well-ventilated bathroom, all appropriate finishes will hold up well. Paint and caulk seal the wood surface, and as long as those are maintained it's not a problem. Wood molding works better in rooms with high ceilings. Most ceramic lines include a variety of crown molding options. Good luck!

It's an under-mount tub by Kohler. Your local kitchen & bath showroom should be able to help. Tubs come in several sizes, so be sure to have a contractor measure what will work for your project.

That purple has a periwinkle vibe going on. Look at Ben Moore's Lavendar Ice/2069-60 or Lavendar Mist/2070-60. Very pretty.
