Classic Coastal Colonial Renovation - the Kitchen DeskTraditional Home Office, Newark

The desk area in the kitchen serves as a perfect spot to leave messages and important information. Magnetic primer and chalkboard paint make a great backsplash and the built-in cabinetry blend seamlessly with the rest of the kitchen.

Hi, could you please let us know what color were the cabinets in? what color was used for the trim and molding pieces? Thanks!
  • PRO
    Michael Robert Construction
They are Nordic white. The trim was sprayed to match.

Where are the electrical outlets? Everything looks so clean until wires are added to the scenario!

Underneath. We don't use it as a computer desk.

These cabinets are by Brookhaven, a division of Wood Mode. If you go to their website you can see where you can order them from near you. Thanks for your interest!

The floor is 4" oak with 3 coats of water based polyeurathane. We purposely went with a lower grade oak for more natural knots and variation in the board colors. The water-based poly lightens and accentuates the wood, instead of giving it a yellow, red, or golden hue like oil-based poly does.

As with so many DIY adventures, the key to a successful magnetic paint job is in the preparation.Take time to get all the supplies before you begin, prepare the space thoroughly and be honest about how much time you will need. Finally, be patient with yourself, turn on some great music and plan for takeout.Have you worked with magnetic primer? Was the experience a triumph or a tragedy?
