Yes, mitered edge on island to have more impact. not on perimeter

Thanks for the quick reply. How did you handle the height issue? Thanking of doing the same but was told we'd have to raise the counters to 36.5 to take into account the mitered edge and to make sure all the counter height matched. (Farmhouse sink in the island and dishwasher to the right ) - thx!

It is probably mitered. See how the perimeter counter marble is thinner . . . The edge on island is likely mitered so as to appear like a thicker slab. Though it could simply be a 5 cm slab (Hard to find and quite expensive and heavy) Either way it is gorgeous!

It's obviously not a 5cm slab. Look around the sink. That's the slab thickness. The edge is mitered and looks nice. Look @ countertops, too. See how this & fragile it appears compared to the island? Still trying to figure why folks are going so bold w/ and island edge and so wimpy w/ a 2cm counter edge.

counters are normally 36 inches in height

  • Tricia Hodge

Didn't they have to slightly build up some height under the island slab to account for the deepness of the mitred edge? Our fabricator told us it would slightly raise the height of the island counter...which I like.

THIS STONE SLAB IS SIMILAR TO WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR DO WE WANT A DARK BUILT IN THAT LOOKS LIKE OUR REDWOOD BUT I AM AFRAID IT'S NOT DYNAMIC ENOUGH. WE CAN APPLY CONNECTION IN OTHER AREAS OF THE KITCHEN.
