Hi,is that lt. blue on ceiling? I painted our ceiling a champagne lacquer, stones on some of the walls. Will the paint I chose make the living room cubicle like? Any suggestions? It's not finished yet-only half the ceiling is done. We are renovating an old house. Many thanks for your reply.

It is Ben Moore and a pale blue. I don't remember the exact color.

How deep are the shelves built into the walls? - How deep are the shelves built into the walls? Can anyone do that in a standard wall between the studs? Or is this a deeper wall than most? I love the look.

This is a deeper wall than standard. The shelves are 12" deep on this side. There are wall cabinets on the other side that are 13" deep. You can see by the cased opening that the entire wall is about 30" thick.

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Bud Dietrich, AIA added this to The Space Above: Beautiful Barrel-Vaulted Ceilings
A barrel vault is the perfect shape ceiling for a dining room such as this. The ceiling's extra height and dimension adds spaciousness to a room while its shape — an arc that defines an enclosing circle — creates intimacy. It's as if we are outdoors with the vault of heaven above as we gather around to enjoy good food and good conversation.
