What range hood is used?

  • Tommy Everson

Since the Miele hood duct vents out of the top of the unit, did you use an elbow to get the duct to run horizontally out the wall, or did you retrofit the hood to vent out the back of the unit?

    Futuro Futuro Kitchen Range Hoods

Since the hood is on an outside wall, the simplest & most reliable solution is to use a 90-degree elbow to turn the duct. "Retrofitting" a range hood would involve much more work with cutting things, drilling holes, etc.

Another "awning" window is available from Pella, but it may bot be this size. I love it over the sink - I can open/close it.

hi gersonperson...the 1.5" thick shelves are attached to a 3/4" gray painted panel (with cabinet screws I believe) and then mounted as a unit. Hope that helps!

The U shape kitchen has a 28" counter at the wall, 72" space at sink, 36" peninsula.

So, Kitchen, as viewed in this image is 136" peninsula to wall and 110" from left to right plus a 42" circulation space

Yes, Henrybuilt gray. But it is easy enough to get a chain of plastic laminate from Abet Laminati et al and find a color that works for you! don;t let the trend setters get you down, take this challenge on yourself!

24" is minimum clearance for combustible material above a cooktop per code. We set upper cabinets anywhere from 24" - 30" to maintain horizontal lines in our kitchens. 30" can be quite a high reach for shorter people so best to adjust to your own height and reach.

  • Fred S

30" is the minimum clearance to UNPROTECTED combustible material above a cooktop per code.

    International Residential Code

    SECTION M1901 RANGES AND OVENS

    M1901.1 Clearances.

Freestanding or built-in ranges shall have a vertical clearance above the cooking top of not less than 30 inches (762 mm) to unprotected combustible material. Reduced clearances are permitted in accordance with the listing and labeling of the range hoods or appliances. The installation of a listed and labeled cooking appliance or microwave oven over a listed and labeled cooking appliance shall be in accordance with Section M1504.1. The clearances for a domestic open-top broiler unit shall be in accordance with Section M1505.1.

    .

G2447.5 (623.7) Vertical clearance above cooking top.

Household cooking appliances shall have a vertical clearance above the cooking top of not less than 30 inches (760 mm) to combustible material and metal cabinets. A minimum clearance of 24 inches (610 mm) is permitted where one of the following is installed:

    1. The underside of the combustible material or metal cabinet above the cooking top is protected with not less than 1/4 inch (6 mm) thick insulating millboard covered with sheet metal not less than 0.0122 inch (0.3 mm) thick.

The hood shall have a width not less than the width of the appliance and shall be centered over the appliance.
