An incredibly interesting wood column base design, this high end designed and well crafted Belmont Oval dining table is a gorgeous addition to a traditional home. The stone wash finish accents the solid reclaimed acaica construction and solid base beautifully giving it a rustic yet refined look. Its vintage feel actually brings a wonderful fresh element into the room. It has the ability to extend to allow for large gatherings or buffets.

Overview
Extension and complete refurbishment.
The Brief
The existing house had very shallow rooms with a need for more depth throughout the property by extending into the rear garden which is large and south facing. We were to look at extending to the rear and to the end of the property, where we had redundant garden space, to maximise the footprint and yield a series of WOW factor spaces maximising the value of the house.
The brief requested 4 bedrooms plus a luxurious guest space with separate access; large, open plan living spaces with large kitchen/entertaining area, utility and larder; family bathroom space and a high specification ensuite to two bedrooms. In addition, we were to create balconies overlooking a beautiful garden and design a ‘kerb appeal’ frontage facing the sought-after street location.
Buildings of this age lend themselves to use of natural materials like handmade tiles, good quality bricks and external insulation/render systems with timber windows. We specified high quality materials to achieve a highly desirable look which has become a hit on Houzz.
Our Solution
One of our specialisms is the refurbishment and extension of detached 1930’s properties.
Taking the existing small rooms and lack of relationship to a large garden we added a double height rear extension to both ends of the plan and a new garage annex with guest suite.
We wanted to create a view of, and route to the garden from the front door and a series of living spaces to meet our client’s needs. The front of the building needed a fresh approach to the ordinary palette of materials and we re-glazed throughout working closely with a great build team.

This is a small side return extension to a Victorian terraced house in the heart of Camden Town. With space at a premium, we designed an inside-out lightweight exposed timber frame construction that creates a working wall incorporating services, shelving and recesses between the structure in the clients new dining area.
A large pivot door opens out into the garden, working alongside the glazed roof to provide a light and airy addition.
We have worked closely with the clients to achieve a low-cost yet design-led scheme to improve their home. A stripped back approach and simple palette of materials create a contemporary space for the clients to enjoy.

The centre piece of the works was a single storey ground floor extension that extended the kitchen and usable living space, whilst connecting the house with the garden thanks to the Grand Slider II aluminium sliding doors and a large fixed frame picture window.

Our brief was to provide a link from the ground floor of this Victorian House within the Harrogate conservation area, which, due to the sloping site, is a full storey above the garden at the rear of the house.
The existing kitchen/dining area has been linked with the garden via a floor-to-ceiling curved glass and steel extension, providing space for sitting and enjoying views of the landscaped garden at both the lower ground and ground floor levels.
Both the roof and mezzanine are punctuated by circular glazed openings, and the staircase linking the two levels is constructed from steel with timber treads and a frameless glazed balustrade.

This project involved a two storey extension to the side and a single storey extension to the rear of an existing 1930′s semi-detached house with a revised internal layout to create a family home suitable for today’s living standards. The single storey extension to the rear created a seamless extension of the original house, housing a new open plan kitchen, living and dining area with a large internal sliding door which closes off the living area if desired. Light wells overhead provide natural light deep into the existing house plan. Large sliding aluminium framed doors open off the main living areas onto a timber deck and the rear garden. www.dmvf.ie.

DMVF were approached by the owners of this mid century detached house in Dartry to undertake a full remodel, two storey extension to the side and single storey extension to the rear. Our clients were extremely conscious of the environment and so the house has been insulated to an extremely high standard using external insulation. There is an new demand control ventilation system a new intelligent heating system and new solar panels. The family rooms and living spaces are light filled and interconnect. A large sliding door separates the living room from the family room which gives great flexibility.
