I think it's a smooth finish with colored concrete.

Looks like a "sand finish" with a surface retarder. No big secret

Why would someone answer a question about another person's work? It is not helpful to give information that is not accurate - and how could anyone but the designer and installer know the methodology behind the work?

Toposes. This is nit the only high quality concrete paving stones out there. I have only answered the question with regards to the concrete NOT how it was achieved in this picture. And its not wrong cause one of my houses is complete precast exposed concrete (of similar finish) with exposed red brickwork. Feel free to ask and I have nothing to hide . Have fun.

    Modrian meets Louis Kahn. Nice.

Is there deck joist on the underside of the decking, which leaves me to believe open air space, my question is more about drainage under the deck. Is there a French drain or catch basins to divert the water from collecting and causing algae growth or mosquito haven areas... Or even an increase of wood rot.

Is there an integral color in the concrete and if so, can you tell me what color?

Why post on Houzz if you won't provide information? I never get that. It's not a Bay Area website!

I would also be interested in this, the decking looks great but wondering about ventilation etc...

It looks like a gorgeous fire pit, perhaps! This yard is FANTASTIC! But funny you should mention litter boxes, I'm doing a litter cabin (attached to the home, but not inside) for clients- let me know if you need help with anything.

Looks like board form poured concrete to me.

Room Outside was designed to be a complete DIY handbook not only for horticultural students, but also for those who wished to design and build a garden in a modern style.Brookes outlined simple geometric design techniques to balance the garden with the house, creating patterns that could tie together all the functions of the garden; the resulting designs echoed Mondrian paintings.
