The stone is actually fairly light in color and it does handle temperature very well. Attached are three photos of the stone material in daylight to help you see the color range and the overall light nature of the stone colors.

Again, a fantastic strong stone that can fit into a wide variety of project styles.

Any further questions, feel free to ask.

The stone is actually a Quartzite. It is called 'Woodbridge' and it was purchased from Walker Zanger. It is a fairly inexpensive stone at $5.75 per square foot ( at time of purchase). It is extremely durable stone (requires a good diamond tip saw). The great or unique quality is the color range (see some of the day time photos) with the colors ranging from light blues to tan and more. This allows great versatility in project styles in which it can be used.

Hope this helps!

How can one incorporate this for a small home around 1400 square feet? This is stunning.

Follow up floor question - Thanks so much for the reply on the floor. Is that 5.75 installed? Also, is it smooth or rough? Love the look and want to know if I can/should use it for the patio around my pool. Thanks again.

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Becky Harris added this to Press Pause: Styling the Television
If I squint really hard I think I see a surfer. The point of this screen choice is to create a focal point in the middle of the photograph.
Laura Heller added this to Home Tech: Movie Night on the Patio
Dedicated outdoor home theaters are an investment. Be sure to use the right equipment, such as all-weather TVs from specialized suppliers like SunBrite or SkyVue. You'll sacrifice some of the newest features such as 3D or internet connectivity for safety and durability, but that's the price we pay for not setting fire to the backyard.
Alex Jewett: Godden Sudik Architects added this to Tips for an Outdoor Kitchen That Lets You Enjoy the Party
Whether with color, architecture or materials, make your outdoor kitchen a focal point. This will help draw guests into the kitchen area while you cook. This covered kitchen, which allows for the party to be centered around the kitchen, is a great example.
