Linda helped turn our 100-year-old fixer upper into our dream home. The best part about working with Linda is that she is both a good listener and a creative expert in designing spaces that meet your needs. We worked with her on small, medium and large projects. Each time, she asked us careful questions about what problem we were trying to solve, prepared initial plans, revised them, and ensured that our contractor teams understood the vision. She gave us the same, careful attention for every project. We couldn't imagine working with anyone else in the future. Below is a description of the three projects.
The first project involved designing a front porch, siding, replacement windows, and other features that fit with the historic origins of the house. Her drawings helped us qualify for a program offered by the state to refurbish homes on the national historic registry, a program that provided 25% of the cost of the project in state tax rebates.
The second project, 5 years later, involved designing a basement for functional use - working out, laundry, and storage. We had only 2 small closets in the original house, and Linda came up with plans to give us a pantry, clothing storage, and other shelving.
The third and most recent project (completed in Summer 2016) was the most dramatic. Linda met with us to understand the challenges with our home (still, not enough storage, poor traffic flow, a very small kitchen in a very big room, and no master bathroom). She listened to our dislikes and proposed something we totally didn't imagine. She moved the kitchen to the hub of the house (formerly the dining room), created a mudroom and pantry, dedicated one room to a dining room, and transformed the original great room/kitchen into a very comfortable family room with room for a full-sized couch, banquet seating, and wet bar. She also combined a very small bedroom with a medium sized room to create a master suite with closet, built ins, and a luxury shower. It is impossible to convey with words how beautiful the new space is.
