We interviewed many architects and found Gary a cut above, his combined knowledge of architecture, design, flow, texture and overall vision are unmatched. The process was done in easy steps of idea and image sharing, discussion, design, collaboration and finalization. Another unique quality is the amount of time Gary spends with the project throughout its build phase, sometimes daily and this proves invaluable as when features come to life, there is sometimes the odd pivot or enhancement that is made to further the excellence. Gary is very professional and genuine. He approached my rather small project as though it was one of the many homes he has designed. He always had time to take my calls and answer my questions. This was a room conversion project to revitalize and transform a storage space area into a custom mountain themed office retreat. The end product was a highly functional home office with high wood beams, cut RICK stonework, custom guitar alcoves and lighting and incredible attaining to detail on color choices and textures representing a true mountain environment.

Gary Chandler was the architect of the zen pavilion that I imagined to build in the backyard of my property. The pavilion was to be both a place for entertainment and a place for the practice of martial arts. Gary was able to materialize my idea beyond my expectations making the best usage of the project location, overlooking a creek and surrounded by trees. Gary also recommended an outstanding builder, Blake Kahanek, who delivered a construction of superior quality. I have used Gary Chandler for three remodel projects in three states over the past 15 years and I enthusiastically and unequivocally recommend him for your next design project. Design & Aesthetics Gary is a passionate and experienced architect and continues to read, grow and innovate in his profession. With the pervasiveness of CAD programs, today’s homeowner is barraged with “professionals” who insist they can design your remodel “for free” or “a fraction of what an architect will charge.” I’ve watched too many friends make the choice to go with their contractor’s kitchen designer or their interior designer and end up with rather unimaginative, lifeless spaces. In contrast, Gary’s understanding of lines, proportion and balance combine to create a truly emotional response to your space - space that simply “feels right”. All three of our projects have been remodels of 1950s homes. In each, Gary’s designs were fresh and aesthetically pleasing, all the while remaining consistent with the original architecture and seamless with the flow of the home. Also present in each project were wonderful dramatic elements that complemented the true-to-the-original design objective. For example, in our first remodel it was a most magnificent two-story “glass cube” home-office that overlooked the pool and lush grounds of our Memorial Villages home. Another project featured a floating island kitchen, truly the center of our home, connecting the original structure to a modern addition. Both looked like they always belonged there and both were truly a dream to work in. So be prepared for beauty, harmony and to be (pleasantly) surprised by the unexpected. Beyond Blueprints Gary goes well beyond design and drawings. Gary assists in selecting finishings for his projects before they go out for bid. Together we chose countertops, sinks, kitchen and bath plumbing fixtures, cabinet pulls, door handles, etc. The result is finishings that support the architecture, certainly an important factor in eliciting a positive emotional connection to the space. In addition, taking the time to make these selections before construction begins (as opposed to accepting allowances) helped us better understand the total cost of our project, when we still could make adjustments to the scope of the project if necessary. Finally, I cannot stress enough how much we valued Gary’s construction administration. He regularly checked in on the builder’s progress and helped troubleshoot issues when they arose. Building or remodeling a home has its trying moments and having Gary’s continued support through construction and seeing our projects through to completion made a world of difference! I hope someday to be able to work on a fourth project with Gary. But this one I would love to build from the ground up and let his imagination take over, no longer constrained by a property imagined 60 years ago!

Gary Chandler was employed as my architect on a kitchen remodeling job. The entire kitchen was gutted and a breakfast room added to a house built in 1938. Gary did an outstanding job of design and supervising the project. Even though the kitchen is now 15 years old it still looks and functions in an up to date manner. He is a genius! I am 110% satisfied.

Twelve years ago my husband and I asked Gary to come up with some plans which would add a second story to our 1960's ranch. Our one request was we wanted the final product to look like it had always been there. Gary far exceeded any expectations we had. His attention to detail was and is off the charts. Gary is unlike any other architect we have worked with. His vision goes way beyond the brick and mortar. He has a great sense of style and balance. We only have one problem. Gary did such an amazing job creating our home that we don't want to leave it. Yet we are dying to do another project with him. He is the best of the best!
