Jonathan helped us upgrade shelving in our living room as well as create a built-in in our primary bedroom. They both look amazing. My daughter loves the pull out shelves in the living room. She is able to get to all of her toys. We have so much storage in our bedroom now - I've been able to organize all of my clothes and clean out the closet.

Our home was built in 1910 and remodeled to its period in 1975. When we had a water leak which destroyed my kitchen cabinets, it was important to me to duplicate, as closely as possible, the cabinetry to the style of the house. Kleid Design Group and Rigo not only duplicated them but was able to incorporate leaded glass door panels made by my father within the new cabinets. With a couple of updates such as soft close drawers and pullouts in cabinets, my new "old" kitchen looks exactly like it fits the home. No prefabricated cabinets for me. Jonathan and Ray designed a custom entryway storage bench and closet for us. It's immaculate and they did everything exactly as they said they would. It was a tricky location that required a lot of customization, and I love the end result and think it was totally worth the cost. Jonathan’s team was superb. The built-in bookshelves came out exactly as we had imagined, and that’s a result of his expertise and communication. As to expertise, Jonathan was able to take abstract concepts in our minds and bring them to life. He translated our lay ideas into terms that a construction expert would understand, and vice versa. The result were bookshelves that combined a modern look (e.g., TV that swivels out on an articulating arm) with the historic look of our Victorian. The bookshelves fit so well that they look like they have been there since original construction. His team is also very communicative. He set and followed up on interim deadlines. This made sure we all held one another accountable and stayed on track to meet our deadlines. He also made sure that the project went as imagined. He said early on that his goal was to avoid in post-construction comments like, “But I thought . . .” Having thoughtful conversations up front and along the way made sure that there were no surprises or disappointments. As a result, the bookshelves came out . . . just as we had thought.

Jonathan and his team created beautiful custom built-ins for our home. They turned out better than we could have ever expected! It was very easy to work with Jonathan. He set clear expectations of the project and process, was prompt with designs, and communicated with us every step of the way. There were no surprises. Everyone who was part of this project was a top-notch professional - Ray, Jesse, Jose, and Swift Finishing are true craftsmen. Jonathan and his team were wonderful to work with. We found them responsive and professional throughout the design process. We added two built-in cabinets and floating shelves next to the fireplace in our living room. Jonathan made tasteful design suggestions for the doors of the cabinets and provided valuable referrals for an electrician and painter. When the cabinets arrived there was a minor error and the cabinets were installed too low... the team responded quickly and built new cabinets to install at the right height within 10 days after the initial installation date. The customer service was great, especially compared to big box stores (IKEA) and designer stores (DWR) who have been both unresponsive and incredibly slow when it came to addressing quality issues or product defects. Nothing like custom-made! The finished project blends into the room seamlessly and looks very classy and understated, just what we wanted! If you are looking for quality, custom-made cabinets I would highly recommend Jonathan and his team.

We were so pleased with the job that Jonathan and team accomplished! We did a refresh of our kitchen cabinets and the result is beautiful! The Kleid Design Group, Jonathan et al., did an amazing job on our home improvement project. I would like to thank them for taking on our smaller project of designing, creating and installing pull out trays in our kitchen pantry, a bathroom cabinet above the toilet and an entryway shoe bench with cleat for coat hangers. The pull out trays were especially helpful given the very deep cabinets in the kitchen making it convenient to access items. We loaded up the trays with heavy items and they are still super smooth to pull out with a soft close. The whole process of talking about ideas, gathering measurements, generating and signing off on a plan and installation was collaborative, detailed and we were informed every step of the way. We will reach out to the Kleid Design Group for future projects.

We had a great experience with Kleid Design Group. We hired Jonathan and his team to build out an awkward closet into a pantry/household storage closet. Excellent communication and customer service were hallmarks of working with KDG throughout the process. They completed the work on the agreed-upon scheduled and with great attention to detail. Jonathan Kleid designed living room and den bookcases that continue to elicit positive comments from everybody who visits my home. And, of course I still find them amazing looking as well as functional. They look like they were part of the original construction of each of the rooms. Jonathan drew up complete detailed plans for approval before proceeding with the construction and used the dead space in each room to make for a beautiful and functional addition of book storage space.

I found Kleid Design Group by chance, winning a silent auction for a consultation and design. I’d recently (2003) purchased a new home, and a large open recess in the living room was screaming out for an entertainment center. I wanted something a bit different; narrow bookshelves up the sides, open back-lit display spaces above, bamboo-slat screen lower cabinet door panels (to let stereo sound out), and retracting doors to hide the TV. Well, let me tell you - my entertainment center is the envy of my neighbors, most of whom bought the cheaper unit that was offered as a builder’s upgrade. The meticulous attention to detail, the fine craftsmanship, and the close attention to the quirky features I wanted all lined up to make a truly fine piece of built-in furniture. It’s different, it’s a PERFECT fit with my design aesthetic, and it still looks as good as the day it was installed. I’ve never had any regrets for the single biggest improvement I’ve made since buying the house. It wasn’t cheap, but it was WELL worth every nickel I spent. Of course, the best things usually are!

I met this owner by serendipity at a charity even in 2009. He had graciously donated a design session and I was in need of ideas for a space off my dining room which I hoped to make a functional pantry. Voila! not only did he do the design but had an amazing gentleman of Amish background who was a true artisan. I after these many years still pinch myself at the beauty and function of this space. I write to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional work that your Group did designing, building and installing my new mahogany display cabinet. The workmanship was exquisite, down to the smallest detail. 1 know that I called for some unusual components to be installed (glass shelves, mirrored alcoves, "drawers within drawers," recessed lighting, even secret compartments), and you crafted each of them with professional execution. Even now, when it turns out that I need another "drawer within an existing drawer," you're right on top of it. There are so many individual elements of your work that deserve mention. Your ability to match the stain to my existing furniture was remarkable. The new cabinet looks like it was built as part of my original office suite, and that was done over 40 years ago. You captured not only the hue but the aging effect beautifully. And the installation process was itself a work of art. I watched when your craftsmen measured my hallway before construction began to ensure that all the pieces could be brought into the house upon completion. I don't know how you did it, but all those separate - and large - components made it down my twisty hallway and into the den without a scratch to either the walls or the wood. When the installation was completed, it was impossible to tell that the cabinet wasn't a single piece of furniture, not one composed of a dozen discrete parts. During the installation, your workers were courteous and professional. Although the installation required them to do some construction work inside the house, they ensured that all dust and debris were completely removed before they left. I could not be happier with both your people and the finished product. I'd be pleased if you would share this brief letter to other customers who might be considering the Kleid Design Group for their furniture construction needs.

Jonathan's team designed and created beautiful custom cabinets for our kitchen renovation in Portola Valley, California. He was highly knowledgeable and always enthusiastic to help. We commissioned a custom shelf/media cabinet for our kitchen-family room area to blend with existing cherry cabinets in our adjoining dining room. Jonathan designed and installed an exquisite floor-to-ceiling built-in piece of furniture that beautifully showcases photos, books, and objets d'art as well as providing space for a discreet wall-mounted TV that can swing out, with equipment hidden beneath. Jonathan designed and crafted a stunning wall of custom mahogany cabinetry for our new construction home in 1999. Yes, you read that correctly, it was 20 years ago! The design was unique in that we had a brand new monster TV we wanted to hide in the corner of our family room with cabinetry flanking both sides of a massive fireplace. The design, fabrication, change order and installation process was meticulous and the service flawless. I normally don't write reviews--mostly, because I'm a perfectionist and people tend to disappoint me with their work. As that was not the case here, I felt compelled to write a review. I was of course skeptical (but hopeful) when I hired the Kleid Design Group. I had interviewed a number of cabinet makers, and they all pretty much offered up the same suggested cabinet design. Jonathan was different. He listened to our needs and wants, and then suggested a modern built-in. We discussed the plans at length, and then I crossed my fingers that the cabinets would come out nicely and that Jonathan's team knew what they were doing. Then the cabinets were installed. Not only are these cabinets gorgeous, they provide the exact functionality we need. The attention to detail is ridiculous and the team built them into the space onsite perfectly. I've never (ever) been so happy with a professional that I've hired. Every time I look at the cabinets, I'm grateful I went with Jonathan and his team.

My husband and I had a challenge of creating a functional work space for 2 people within the confines of a small annex to our bedroom. Jonathan was able to present us with several options and worked through several renditions to make sure we were satisfied. During the process he utilized excellent team of wood makers and stainers to create gorgeous piece of furniture. Even held our hand when we had doubt about the color of the piece. Now we are enjoying functional and most of all gorgeous piece of furniture that works with our style and function. What a change in the kitchen. Jonathan came into give us an estimate a little more than 3 months ago, and now our lives are changed. Organized I should say. No more cluttered countertops. No more looking for something way back in the cupboards because they slide out. WOW. and they have almost a shock absorber so they slide back in automatically so you dont have to push it. Its an issue when you have an appliance in your hands. We put lazy susans in the upper shelves and now have an amazing 18" round, easy to find, easy to organize, pantry. Oh and the wine cabinent too. 27 bottles at our fingertips. And the wood working was top shelf. 10 Stars. Better than you could expect from normal craftsmen. These guys are first rate. The Best.!!!

John designed a large built in of cabinets and bookshelves for our front room in a SF Victorian house and it is stunning. The simplicity and elegance of the design are perfect for the house and give the room a warm, more intimate feeling. His attention to detail and design was great. I am an architect and have known and worked with Jonathan for more than ten years. We first met Jonathan back in 2004 after purchasing a home in Menlo Park, California. A local top designer then working at a prestigious downtown furniture store referred him to us. While our 1950’s home had been updated about five years earlier, there remained original cabinetry in the remodeled family room/kitchen area that was out of style and scale for the modernized space. Jonathan designed a custom entertainment center expanding the original cabinetry to accommodate a state-of-the-art stereo system (think command central at Kennedy Space Center)! We were so pleased with his work, we then asked him to design three built in offices for my husband, daughter and myself. Finally, realizing we could not reach most of our floor to 10-foot ceiling bookshelves, he built us a tall sliding ladder in hardwood: convenient to use and stunning to look at as an addition to our hallway lined with lighted original artwork. All four projects were designed with both purpose and elegance in mind. Jonathan is professional, extremely detailed, asks the right questions and uses the best craftsmen to produce his proportionally accurate and refined architectural concepts. Equally important, working with Jonathan was a delight. His projects ran on time and within budget. I wholeheartedly recommend Jonathan Kleid and the Kleid Design Group for cabinetry custom design! Jonathan is a pleasure to work with, on time, professional, personal and respectful. His cabinetry builder was focused, efficient and talented. I hired Kleid Design Group to design, build and install cabinetry with lighting in 2 areas of our home, the family room and master bedroom. The family room piece was designed to hold tech equipment for our sound system and entertainment. A large cabinet positioned in the corner of the room designed to match the preexisting cabinets in the room, however, the quality far exceeded what was there. Factory painted to match the molding and existing cabinets it added a new dimension and interest to the room, the clutter was gone and the room feels bigger! The second room has 5 large pieces designed by Jonathan, floor to ceiling cabinets, a corner unit with storage for clothing, drawers, and shelves, a television surround with open shelves and more storage below and a wonderful solution to a cavernous open floor plan. The focal point of the room is a large arched window. Jonathan designed a system of shelves for books framing the window with a very large window seat and more storage below. The shelves rest on top of cabinets that supply extensive storage options behind beautifully designed closed doors. Our original problem with the room was storage and open unusable space-problem solved! Jonathan also recommended lighting, sound, and interior design professionals to complete the project and bring our house everlasting enjoyment and decor, on budget. You will be more than satisfied with Klein Design Group. They are the best in the industry and you won’t find a better person to work with to see your vision become a reality.

Jonathan and his team have done two major custom cabinetry jobs for our loft over the last two decades, and we couldn’t be more pleased with their work (including a 15-foot-high bookcase with a rolling library ladder, a kitchen island, a pantry, and bedroom cabinetry and desk). The cabinetry is always elegant and functional, and Jon himself is a real joy to work with. This kind of quality doesn’t come cheap, but there were never any surprises—the estimates for both cost and time were always right on point. We hired Jonathan to design a kitchen for my parents burned out house. The house was built in 1928 and we wanted to keep the feeling of that era but modernized. We were thrilled with Jonathan's first design - it had everything we wanted. The quality is outstanding and he worked very well with our general contractor who had the task or rebuilding the entire fire damaged house. He was always personable, answered our questions, and even met with us at the store to help us select cabinet hardware. We hired Jonathan of Kleid Design Group to create a home office in our house in San Francisco. We told Jonathan of our desire to have the office blend into the architecture of our 1925 house. Kleid Design Group has done work for us on two homes. In both cases they designed complete wall bookcase and entertainment center for our living rooms. In addition they designed bathroom sink and vanity’s. In all cases the craftsmanship was excellent. A floor to ceiling built-in cabinet was installed for files, books, etc. in one of my bedrooms. This project went well and the cabinet gets a lot of good attention.
