Christie's gave you an initial design that would fit within the $200K budget you wanted. You said that it was not what you wanted for your garage and that we had to redesign it and give you an estimate of what you wanted, even though we told you it would cost much more to build the RV garage with everything you desired. We came up with a design of everything you initially asked for and the estimate came out to being $296,926.91. You, of course frustrated with sticker shock, demanded we get the estimate down. We said we could absolutely do so, but we would have to cut out a lot of the items you wanted for your garage. After many of hours of HOA research and telephone calls, meeting with subcontractors, engineers, and a surveyor, to get the estimate down closer to your desired budget, we were finally able to get the estimate down to $210,504.33. This was still a garage that had a dump station, running water, insulation, electric heat, concrete foundation, with the additional garage on the side and of course standard requirements for an RV garage. We did use standard asphalt shingles, battenboard siding, which is on many RV garages in your neighborhood, so we were confident it would have been approved by your HOA had you moved forward to the initial design meeting with the HOA. However, you refused because it was not exactly what you wanted for your budget. As our Planning and Budgeting Agreement states, you would have received a credit back for the $8,000 for the Planning and Budgeting Agreement had you chose to move forward with the build-out and your final costs would have been $202,504.33. Of course, if you didn’t do any insulation, the dump station, the additional garage on the side, it would have been much less than your budgeted $200K.
Additionally, you did receive detailed blueprints and 3D views that you can take to any other contractor and get estimates/pricing for your RV garage. Our costs getting engineers, soil samples, surveys completed, along with the tons hours spent doing estimating, designs, City and HOA requirements research is what you paid the 4% of the 200k planning and budgeting agreement for your garage.
