Built Right Construction and Restoration

I recently hired Built Right Construction and Restoration for a kitchen remodel, and I couldn’t be happier with results. Carlos and his team delivered an outstanding job in a quick turnaround time. They are professional, efficient, and attentive to detail. The quality of craftsmanship exceeded my expectations, and the entire process was smooth from start to finish. I highly recommend Built Right Construction and Restoration for any renovation project.

Fantastic experience – HIGHLY recommend! Built Right Construction & Restoration did a remodel of my kitchen and a bathroom that had been severely damaged from a water pipe break. In hindsight, I should have called them before I called my insurance company. My insurance company sent over a (fly by night) water restoration company that waited and took pictures for almost a month before they even started. Had I known that as an insured I was eligible to call anyone I like for the water mitigation. But I did hire Built Right to do the remodel unaware that I could have called them for the water mitigation. Carlos at Built Right went out of his way to call the insurance company to explain that slow progress from the insurance company’s mitigation people and also explained to the insurance company that (due to the slow progress the mold was creeping in and almost like an attorney Carlos reiterated my California rights to the insurance company and that was it was obligated to pay for the repairs. Carlos and the people at Built Right Construction & Restoration got the insurance company to pay for almost all the cost of a complete kitchen remodel and a complete bathroom remodel. And since I had existing renter in the house, Carlos quickly took charge and had both rooms done in about a month. Ill having the second bathroom at the house done by Built Right Construction & Restoration next years. Cant say enough good things about Built Right. Very professional GREAT!!

Take my review with a grain of salt, per se, as we are only in the initial part of the renovation process. I have seen many pictures of their final product, so i'm not concerned, in that regard. I'm so impressed with Carlos, Chuck and Jose that for the first time in my life, I'm writing a review without having the job completed yet. I have met with the team and have had multiple conversations with them. These guys are the real deal! They are competent, they know their city codes, and have mastered their craft. Jose and Chuck have been in constant communication with me from the start. They explain the process, their costs are realistic, and they give you the knowledge so you, as the owner, can make the final decision. Once you give them the green light, they operate with a military mindset. Chuck was so invested in the project that he called my insurance adjuster and managed to get $10,000+ in additional funds due to the insurance company underestimating the cost of repair/replacement of the floors and kitchen, with regard to bringing it up to code. He did this without me even signing a contract with Built Right because he said "it's the right thing to do." How many contractors or companies would do something like that?? If you want your job done right by a team of good people who actually care about other people and not just how much $$$ they can make off of you, stick with Carlos, Chuck and Jose and Built Right Renovation. PROS: Detail oriented, honest, meticulous, high standard of workmanship, ease of communication, good problem resolution skills, exceptional knowledge in their field, knowledge of products CONS: None yet. But keep in mind, they may not be your cheapest quote, they wont be your most expense either, but they will give you high end service with a mid range price. I'll update my review as the project continues.

We had a fantastic experience with Chuck, Carlos, and their team (especially Rudy!). We needed to remove a shower, install a bathtub, and replace the tile in our kids' bathroom, but as a first-time home owner I felt overwhelmed by the whole process. Luckily for us, Built Right made it easy! Brittney with Built Right responded right away to my message (sent via Yelp), and a few days later Brittney and Chuck came out to our house to take a look at the bathroom and give me a quote. I was so impressed with the experience: Chuck was thorough, flexible, super communicative and transparent, and really heard me when I described our goals, preferences, and limitations. Once construction started the team worked diligently and efficiently; they finished the project even faster than anticipated, and the cost was exactly as quoted. Overall, we had a really great experience with Built Right and I would strongly recommend them!

This team has excellent customer service, prompt and professional communication. They went above and beyond to make our project work (under a very tight timeline), and they were customer focused through and through. I would recommend them, and will use them again in the future.

I contacted Built Right to get an estimate on a kitchen remodel and wall removal project. Carlos and Chuck were extremely knowledgeable and gave plenty of necessary guidance as we discussed our project. Not only did they communicate really well, they actually followed up with me several times to check in and ask questions about the project which hadn't happened with other GCs I was in touch with. Ultimately, we decided to go with another company but this decision was made solely on a personal recommendation. I would definitely recommend working with Carlos and Chuck at Built Right if you are interested in remodeling or upgrading your home.

Built Right did a great job on our bathroom remodel. The communication with Carlos was excellent, the price was reasonable and the final product is great. The only difficulties we had were pretty minor. The job took about 2.5 weeks longer than we anticipated. Some of that was due to additional work added to the project. Overall we were pretty satisfied with the job. We are considering some additional work at our house and Built Right will be our first choice.

We are a repeat customer. We needed to update the Interior paint and also have new baseboards. We were so happy with the updated bathrooms and repair of our guest room downstairs due to a water damage. Chuck and his crew made the process so easy and understandable since we also dealt with the insurance company. Chuck and his crew completed the paint work and baseboards over the weekend! We are so happy that we will only use Chuck and his crew are our primary contractor for future home projects and renovations.

I found Built Right Renovation through Houzz. Both Carlos and Chuck are incredibly professional and great to work with. As both the designer and the home owner, they’ve been great to collaborate with design challenges and solutions. I look forward to working with them in the future. Although the project is still under construction, I can’t wait to show off my “after” photos!

Carlos and his team were great to work with! Very responsive and adjusting availability to suit my schedule really helped in getting the project done. While the project was small in scope (kitchen appliance upgrade) there were a lot of moving pieces and small jobs required to get everything in place, which Carlos coordinated smoothly. I would use them again!

We had BR install unfinished wood flooring in our home. Carlos is probably the easiest, and most knowledgeable contractor I've ever worked with - always available, always able to answer questions. We heartily recommend him.

Hey guys, I looked for some good contractor in my area and after a deep research and I filtered a few of them because miscommunication or kind of words like: I will call you back and never did, for me it is already a problem even without starting any job with them. no one want it, not me anyway. So I found Carlos and his team. WOW. great team really high quality of result. it was a fabulous communication!! he even offered me to come to a job site to see the job and the team working. Short: Great team, great crew. Thorough, thoughtful, responsive, reasonable, and skilled. They did a great job on our bathroom repair and remodel, despite short notice and having to squeeze us into an already busy schedule. I know how hard it is to find a contractor you're legitimately HAPPY with. This is that contractor. Long: Our shower pipes (behind the wall) in our condo apparently had been leaking for some time, and the downstairs neighbors' ceilings were getting destroyed. We needed to get the work done fast but right; we'd just bought a house, and were tying to put the condo on the market. I asked my colleagues for a contractor referral, and they RAVED about Carlos and Chuck at Built Right, whom they had used for a major house remodeling. They'd heard about Built Right from their friends, who'd also used them for a major home remodel. Despite the short notice, given the circumstances, Carlos scheduled us in and got a team in to gut our bathroom, find the leak, and replace the corroded pipes. From there, they put in a new shower/tub, floor tiles, and shower tiles, and repainted the vanity and bathroom walls. Our once dated bathroom now looks great! This was our first time embarking on a project like this; Carlos and team were hands on and guided us through the process. They met us at Lowe's and helped us pick out the floor and wall tiles and grouts. If you know what you're doing, you can pick up all of the materials yourself. But if you need a hand, Built Right goes the extra mile to make sure the project is working for you, and isn't bottlenecked by a bunch of errands you might not have time to run and aren't confident about doing right. They also worked around our needs and budget. In this case, we weren't looking to make the fanciest dream bathroom, so they helped us pick materials and a style that looked nice and would last without breaking the bank. No upselling for unnecessary frills. Work was done quickly and carefully. It took 2 weeks, but only because the July 4 holiday fell right in the middle. I strongly recommend Built Right. Our new house has a variety of small and large work that needs to get done; we're happy to have Built Right on our side for that work too!

We were extremely happy with the quality and price of our bathroom renovation. They were very timely in finishing up our project, which was very surprising, since most contractors don’t deliver when they promised. Our phone calls were always returned rather quickly, another surprise. When they finished our bathroom, they did a great job cleaning up as well. Highly recommend them.

I needed south facing T1-11 replaced. Carlos came out, did the parts list. Allowed me to purchase my own materials, so I could get a family discount since my daughter works at a lumber yard... Chuck checked the parts list, found I overshot some items, saved me some more dollars.. The crew did demo day 1 & installation day 2... Fair price for install, friendly crew, every text message responded to same day. Final project is perfect and they never tried to sell me on other projects... Very happy customer...

We hired another contractor to do our kitchen remodel, and they subcontracted Carlos' company (so Built Right did all the actual work). The direct contractor turned out to be absolutely awful (they were not paying Carlos and they kept us in the dark for a lot of problems). This easily could have blown up and destroyed the entire project. But Carlos has integrity, vision, and dedication. He worked with me to get the project finished, and I really appreciate his honesty and work ethic. When we were unhappy with something, he fixed it. He listened to what we wanted, and was happy to adjust if we asked for something different. We also did full permits through the City of Oakland (complete headache) and they passed all inspections. This was a pretty complex, large job as we were moving all of the appliances so they had to change the plumbing, electrical, and gas completely (sink, fridge, oven, etc). The entire project would have been 110% better if we had just directly contracted with Carlos. Every single person in his team was very respectful and hard working. They did an awesome job.

The Built Right Renovation team was amazing. The two lead supervisors, Chuck and Carlos, both, or one of them, came by every day to check on the crew and make sure we were okay with the work so far, did we have questions, etc. They immediately responded to my phone calls or text messages. The entire crew were polite and friendly with us and each other. You could tell they liked their employers. They always cleaned before they left even if the next day the same area would be worked on. Chuck and Carlos both came immediately one evening when suddenly part of the ceiling fell down. (Nothing to do with any of their work.) There was another water leak in the attic crawl space. They helped clean up the mess and dealt with my insurance company to make sure the insurance payment covered all the damage.

This was my first home renovation and I was very nervous. But Carlos and his crew were so professional, informative, and friendly that I knew I was in good hands. The project turned out beautifully – better than I could have even imagined. My property is also vintage, which introduced some odd challenges, like a sloping floor and odd wiring. I had to live in the unit during the renovation, which made it challenging, but I always felt comfortable with the crew in my home. They were always friendly and respectful, and I enjoyed my morning conversations with them. I strongly recommend this crew to anyone, especially if you're new to home reno. They have a whole lot of integrity, and a whole lot of heart. I'm happy to support this local business.

We had this company come in and gut our bathroom. They did an amazing job. They were always on time, very efficient, meticulous, and professional at all times. Very happy with the finished project. We will definitely call them back for upcoming projects!

We remodeled a tiny half bathroom and converted it into a full one. This was a tricky job given the space, in fact they said it was the smallest bathroom they ever worked on! The job took 3 full weeks, and we're delighted with the end result. Chuck and his crew were friendly and professional. They were accommodating to our various requests along the way, and it was very clear that their number one concern was to make us satisfied with the job. Additionally, they were respectful of our house, and pets and took good care to leave things tidy for us at the end of each day. We strongly recommend Homeworx and will use them again in the future.
