BlackDog came highly recommended to us. After looking at our 11’x11’ kitchen, they were amicable and persuasive about the quality of their work and how long it would take them, especially given the pandemic. We hired them to remodel our small kitchen and replace the living room carpet with wood flooring to match our existing wood floor. They gave us the 5-week schedule for our project up front. The actual time they took to complete the project was 5.5 months. Communication throughout the project, between their project manager and everyone (workers and client) was very poor and at times abusive. The flooring subcontractor appeared on site unscheduled and without preparing us. We were advised people and pets had to vacate the premises immediately for at least four days. To add insult to injury, after jumping thru hoops to find somewhere to stay, upon our return, the new floor did not even match the old and would have to be redone, forcing us to vacate yet again. The subs who installed the appliances had never installed appliances before. We were told that once water to the kitchen was turned back on, we could start using the dishwasher. After we ran the dishwasher, we uncovered massive water damage. Blackdog discovered they had connected only one of two dishwasher hoses. The dishwasher had drained water directly onto the kitchen floor, which was covered with blankets and cardboard at the time. Rough plumbing was scheduled the first week when the walls were bare, but not done until the BlackDog project manager realized the new sink couldn’t drain. They had to cut through three of our brand-new cabinets to access and reconfigure pipes. In the process of moving the new appliances and island around the house, BlackDog damaged the cabinetry and island and the granite top for the island came unglued. Twice, the electrical wiring that fed power to the island was pulled up through a hole in the floor that was cut in the middle of the walkway instead of underneath the island. Twice, it had to be rectified. Although our interaction with the company’s owner began pleasantly enough, when the project was almost complete and it came down to money, things got ugly, causing huge amounts of stress for our entire family. It took weeks to resolve and finally get the job completed. All in all, it was a terrible experience for us. On the bright side, there are a few good people who work for or with BlackDog who knew what they were doing and who spared us a worse experience. They know who they are.

Remote remodeling projects can be trying and a bit scary. Someone recommended Blackdog Builders and I could not have been happier. I had the pleasure of working with Todd and Al on my project and they were total pros! Not only did they finish the project in a timely manner, they were able to do it under budget and the place looks great. What surprised me most was their accessibility. If I called or sent a text, they would respond to me immediately, answer my questions or solve a problem quickly. I found this to be invaluable since most contractors are the exact opposite. The entire Blackdog team is fabulous! We are halfway through a complete remodel/addition of a historic miner’s cabin in Old Town Park City, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with process so far. After soliciting bids from three contractors, looking at their previous projects and meeting with them, I selected Black Dog for my major remodel because of the thoroughness of their bid, the professionalism of their office, and my confidence in their management and staff. We are now half way through the addition/remodel. Unfortunately, much of the outside grading and remodeling had to take place during the winter, and the Park City building department added a lot of requirements. Black Dog has been tenacious in getting the approvals from the city, and dealing with the difficult site and winter conditions. The project manager has been excellent to work with. I live overseas, so using their online project management application has made communication a breeze. Billing is on time and thorough, and my requests are answered quickly. I highly recommend them for new construction and/or remodeling.

We hired Todd Evans with Black Dog Builders to do an extensive remodel and a 1500 sq. foot addition. We interviewed several builders and the choice was clear. BDB were far more realistic on timeframe and budget. And they came with several recommendations from the community. I will (and have) recommended them to many neighbors and friends who are looking at projects of their own. Todd has integrity and honesty. He has a loyal team of individuals, who provide online updates and invoices making everything transparent. He even has a stone division for exterior rock/fireplaces which was reasonably priced. My project lead was John, aka Dragon. He has a passion and commitment to his job like no other and made himself available 24/7. He was quick to respond and takes pride in his job. It was a lot of work but the result was a huge transformation and we are thrilled with the results.

Black Dog provided us with not only excellent level craftsmanship through direct team members and subs but also valuable guidance, direction, and options for our projects. It was the first time I've seen such attention to keeping my home clean throughout a project and both timelines & budgets were met.
