We contracted with Cameron C. Habel Construction to remodel our two bathrooms and install new tile in our entryway. We had used them previously for a variety of small projects in our 90 year old home and they had done a great job. During our initial discussions with Cameron, he had a number of ideas to make the remodel more functional and aesthetically pleasing. He and his colleagues also made practical, cost-saving solutions to problems we encountered during the process. Because we needed to re-do the bathrooms one at a time, there was an inevitable penalty in efficiency which was compounded by having the work done in the middle of the end of year holidays, as well as one of the rainiest winters in some time. Throughout the process, Cameron communicated regularly with us so we always knew what to expect. Cameron, his crew, and sub-constrictors made significant efforts to minimize the disruption to our lives during the remodel and did a good job cleaning up at the end of each workday. As should be expected when having work done on an older home, there were a few surprises (one of the bathrooms was out of level by more than an inch). Cameron discussed these issues with us and laid out the various options, making recommendations for the most effective solution. I was doing a couple of small projects at the home during this time as well, and Cameron was always willing to provide helpful suggestions and advice, even though my queries were undoubtedly an interruption to his own activity. The previous "remodel" of these bathrooms was likely done by a handy, but not especially competent, homeowner. The newly remodeled bathrooms look fantastic and function perfectly. The quality of the workmanship of everyone involved was great. One of the bathrooms was a hideous dark hole with massive leaks. It is now light and aery (and no leaks!). The other bathroom seemed cramped and lacked any real privacy. Now, it has a look which matches the period of the home, appears much more spacious than it actually is, and provides privacy. The entryway looks fantastic also. All within the budget and expected time. We are very pleased with the results of Cameron's work. The remodeled bathrooms are now a lovely and functional asset to our home. Cameron's dutiful communication, sound advice, and excellent workmanship make it easy for us to recommend his company.

Cameron and his team were wonderful to work with. They did a major remodel of two bathrooms plus new HVAC, roof, wiring, etc. They kept the job on schedule and on budget and did a beautiful job communicating throughout the project.

Cameron and crew did a really beautiful renovation to our house. They took the upper level down to the bones and re-wired, re-plumed, master bedroom closets, and insulated. They also remodeled both of the bathrooms, and completely remodeled our kitchen which included moving walls, reshaping, and adding a deck off the kitchen into the yard. I was pleased that they were on time and kept pretty close to our agreed costs. Most of the overage had to do with our extras and changes we requested mid job. At times communication could have been better, but over all we had a good experience and would recommend his work.

Cameron did 2 projects for me. The first was an era sensitive Oakland craftsman cottage. We redid a poorly redone bathroom, it turned out beautiful. Beautiful tile work great colors, makes the cottage shine. We added a bedroom and bath to a 50s house. I was laid off at the time so I participated as the grunt. Cameron was fun to work with, his sense of style is excellent.

My experience was excellent from start to finish. Cameron took the time to really understand what I wanted in my kitchen remodel which involved removing a load-bearing wall, replacing/adding cabinets, sink, counters, tiling, lighting, as well as plumbing and electrical work. Cameron was respectful of my budget, and all work and materials were itemized as the job progressed. The few subcontractors that were used were of the same caliber as Cameron's firm. I appreciate that once the job began, there were no stalls because they were trying to juggle too many jobs. I want to particularly mention Jason, the job manager, and Jessie who were in the house almost everyday for two months. They were great to gave around, knowledgeable, had sound creative solutions when something unexpected came up, and were respectful of our home and space. I would certainly hire Cameron and team again and would recommend them to anyone.

Cameron and his crew were responsive, professional, and did a great job on our whole-house remodel! Both my husband and I are designers who work on high-end residential projects, and Cameron was able to deliver our complicated (and sometimes strange) custom designs. When things went wrong (as they do inevitably in any project), the crew was quick to address the issue and find a solution. The subs that Cameron works with also delivered great work at a good pace. When we got stressed about the timeline (we lived in the house through the remodel and were hoping to finish quickly), the crew responded and got things moving and back on track. In the end, we are thrilled with how the house turned out, and would both recommend Cameron to our clients, and consider using him again the next time we're ready to tackle a remodel or addition.

Cameron and his team completed a kitchen remodel--more a floor to ceiling redo--for us last year. We were rather particular in our vision of the new kitchen, and had a detailed plan from a designer we had long worked with. Cameron gave us just what we asked for--the workmanship was first rate, his team was pleasant to work with, and the final result was all that my wife and I had hoped for.

Cameron Habel recently built a new bathroom in our house where there was a closet and a small hallway. He is easy to communicate with and was very helpful with the design process. He was also very helpful with the tile selection, which can be an endless task. His workers were very considerate and they were able to work around us, our schedules, and our belongings. They were also amenable to taking on other tasks that we thought of throughout the construction project.

I had hired Cameron for a window replacement and dry-rot repair on my old spanish-style home in Oakland. Unfortunately as can happen when working on older homes the job expanded to include total electrical rewiring and a complete replacement of the plumbing. As extensive and stressful as this project was, I always considered having Cameron as my contractor to be a "saving grace". The professionalism provided by Cameron and his crew made what could have been a nightmare into an extremely positive experience. Cameron did not start the project until his schedule allowed him to focus on my home. Once the project had begun, the crew was there every day exactly at 08:00 and worked incredibly hard until 4:30 pm. The crew were fantastic and I felt completely comfortable with them in every corner of my home (big bonus for taking my dog out in the backyard every day on their lunch break). The quality of the work was terrific and I really appreciated the advice provided by the entire crew. My home is very important to me and this crew acted as though it was important to them. In an interesting contrast, my next-door neighbor was undergoing major renovations at the same time but with a different contractor. His crew would show up late; work for 4 hours and then disappear for a week or more to do other projects. I would not have been able to accomplish what we have accomplished under those circumstances. I cannot speak highly enough of my experience with this company and definitely plan to use Cameron again for future projects. Scott Blanchard

I partnered with Cameron (and DSA Architects) as the interior designer for the Net Zero project in Berkeley. I was highly impressed by Cameron's communication and attention to detail. General Contractors manage an astounding number of moving parts, and on occasion a ball gets dropped. Not Cameron! He was organized, responsive, thoughtful and patient, and if the man ever gets stressed- he doesn't let it show. His subcontractors are true craftspeople, and his understanding of alternative and green systems runs deep. I highly recommend Cameron, and look forward to working together again.

Cameron Habel made a complex project pleasurable. He and his leads are professional, trustworthy and absolutely pleasant to be around. A few qualities that set Cameron apart: He and his lead carpenter have the attention to detail of artists/craftsmen. Cameron's bookkeeping was impeccable. In the midst of inevitable differences of perspective amongst those involved in a remodel plus 2nd story addition, Cameron always approached conversations with calmness and grace. He is solutions-oriented and wise. Cameron is a GC of professional and personal integrity. I feel fortunate to have worked with him.

Cameron Habel Construction just complete a major kitchen remodel for us at our home in the Oakland Hills. Cameron and his crew are reliable, communicate thoroughly and are excellent. Cameron's greatest strength however, is his keen design sense - he made a number of design suggestions that proved to be outstanding.
