Harlan Bradley of Masterwork Builders is a great guy and very much a professional at building and remodeling custom homes. As a designer for the past 15 plus years, working with many contractors, I have to say Masterwork Builders is one of the best I've ever worked with and now a favorite. Masterwork Builders' Harlan Bradley is a remarkably organized, professional and enthusiastic builder with great integrity at every level of planning, demolition, and building. He has demonstrated professionalism in all aspects of a process that can be both overwhelming and stressful, guiding and advising every step of the way. He is well versed in value engineering, attempting to save the homeowner wherever possible. He is one of the rare contractors who finishes within the timeframe promised. I hired Masterwork Builders to do an extensive remodel of my Carmel cottage. The quality of their work was superior and the subs were all very courteous, and thoughtful about the fact that I was living on site. Harlan is one of the most personable people that I've met, as is his foreman, Jeff. I would hire them again!

I would like to preface with "I am an Uber Type A personality, and the past 12 years of my life has been one gigantic remodel!" We met Harlan in 2013, staying in a home that he had just completed. We were very impressed not only by Harlan's work, but by Harlan as a person as well. I cannot say enough wonderful things when talking about Harlan and Masterwork Builders. My husband and I live in TX full-time and purchased this as a second home in CA. It was never a question that Harlan would be our go to when we purchased this home. At the onset of the planning process I was convinced I was going to be flying in and out of CA to "check up on things". I am happy to report not one trip was made during this remodel! Being from TX we were used to doing pretty much what we want without much city involvement. Needless to say, there were some things we had to learn regarding remodeling in CA (in a nutshell, it is a whole different ball game). The permit process was probably the most stressful aspect of this project, but Harlan is unbelievably organized and made sure we had everything needed/required to ensure a smooth permit approval process. After hearing nothing but horror stories from friends and neighbors in town, I chose to take the permit period to get a jumpstart on our planning (flooring, finishes, paint colors, etc...). Harlan was unbelievably helpful throught this process, and we worked very well together to get all major details hashed out before demolition started. Harlan and his crews are absolutely amazing. Harlan set us up on an app called Basecamp, and all communications regarding decisions and progress were communicated via the app. Harlan and I had at least one phone call per week to verbally touch base, and face time was used as needed (I tried my best to let Harlan and his crews do their work without my constant interference). Harlan and Jeff are wonderful communicators and there was never really anything left to question after the fact. I can honestly say that, despite the scope of this project, this was the most stress free remodel I have ever experienced! I was notified as soon as an issue arose, and any and all problems were solved in a very timely manner and full responsibility was taken when needed (although we did not deal with this much at all). We did not get hung up on things like materials, unlike every other remodel I have lived through. By taking the permit process to work out the finish details, we did not run into issues regarding materials and availability or lack thereof. Harlan and his crews worked very well together, and our home was kept as clean and organized as possible throughout the project. All in all, Harlan is my go to for any and all future projects in CA. Harlan and his crews took our dream and turned it into a reality, all with me 2000 miles away through the entire process. He is an amazing person both personally and professionally, and working with him has been nothing less than a pleasure!

We have the highest praise for Harlan and his impeccable work. We hired him to remodel our home in Carmel and from the start he was organized, responsive, and meticulous. His thorough budget was clear and spot on throughout the whole project. We don't live in town, so his communication via email, phone, text and drop-box was vital. As an interior designer I also appreciate Harlan's design point of view and attention to detail. He makes sure that everything is done absolutely right down to the finest detail. Our experience working with Harlan Bradley and Masterwork Builders was excellent. Every detail and aspect of his work was thorough, on time with impeccable taste and design, as well as a pleasure to work during every aspect of our communication. Our home was affected by an upstairs flood that damaged the entire downstairs area and most of the upstairs. Harlan handled all aspects of our settlement with Farmers. His expert and detailed communication with our Farmers agent helped to maximize the size of our settlement which in turn allowed us to upgrade to code everything from the foundation, floors, walls and electrical. We live 2 hours from Carmel and had to rely on Harlan to manage all aspects of the project. He finished on time and within budget. We absolutely recommend Masterwork Builders and Harlan Bradley and we plan on using him for future projects.

Harlan helped our family with our new home improvement and upgrades, including interior and landscaping work. We are extremely satisfied with Harlan's work ethic. Masterwork has built multiple homes for us over the years, i highly recommend them. They just completed two homes for us in Los Altos Country Club and one on La Rinconada Dr in Los Gatos.

Harlan Bradley remodeled our 1950s ranch house. This was a complete remodel, removing all inside walls, taking outside walls down to studs, a new roof and new method of roof support so we could raise ceilings to roof level. The result is beautiful and we enjoy living in it. And it was a green remodel as Harlan is certified as a green contractor. Our energy bills are now much lower than before the remodel even though we added new glass doors and skylights. Of course we had some delays but generally these were not Harlan's fault, e.g. he had to send back one large delivery of wood because it was poor quality. Everyone who saw the house under construction was impressed with the quality of his work. Harlan is good with budgets and can quickly revise estimates when plans change. There were some budget overuns but mostly these were because we picked more expensive tile, plumbing fixtures etc. than we originally budgeted for. He has an excellent eye for design and makes good suggestions as to materials. He is a good shopper and saved us money several times. He is easy to get along with and we recommend him highly.
