“One of a Kind” is my discription of Dave Roberts the owner of Sanddollar Building & Remodeling Inc. Dave’s attention to detail and unlimited access to key contacts on Hilton Head Island through every phase of the building process was most impressive. After interviewing several builders on the Island and visiting various model homes in our search we were lucky enough to finally meet Dave at one of his completed projects. Dave proudly walked us through the freshly built house pointing out not only the quality of materials but the soundness of the build. This particular house was built in the middle of a neighborhood constructed by Village Park Homes. Dave showed us and took the time to explain things that we would have never thought of because it was our first custom build experience. Things like HVAC placement, stair width, window wind ratings, insulation, etc. Needless to say after that hour meeting and very thorough lesson from Dave we were sold. The property we purchased did have a very old dwelling that needed demolition. It was at that point that I realized just how many connections Dave has on the island. Not only did he have a demo guy, and tree company there within a few days, he also had been emailing some aerial shots of my new property to solve a legal setback issue with the town. I was truly amazed and really knew I was in good hands. There was never a time that Dave would not pick up the phone throughout the process, which is so important because we were 800 miles away in NJ. However I learned to trust Dave with decisions that are so hard to make when you just can’t be there. Hundreds of pics were sent back and forth between Dave and myself some late at night, some early in the morning but all worked toward building our dream. I truly felt and do believe that Dave takes a vested interest in every Home he builds. He did with this one and we couldn’t be happier. As I said in the beginning I found a “One of a Kind” builder. I highly recommend letting Sanddollar make your Dream come true!

We have used Sanddollar twice now, once for new construction and once for renovations on another home. Their work is very high quality, they are very meticulous in their work and they are a pleasure to work with.

Sanddollar Building rescued us from disaster. We met them while they were working on another major renovation a few houses away. They were kind enough to assess our situation from a previous contractor's mess and mistakes, and took us to the finish line. Dave and his crew did a fabulous job renovating and revitalizing our family vacation home. They replaced our roof, siding, pool, deck, railing, lighting and also repainted. Our next journey with Sanddollar will be the interior. Their Southern charm and professionalism makes it very easy to recommend them!

Sanddollar did a wonderful job remodeling my family home. When my father passed away I knew I had to keep my childhood home. It was dated and needed a lot of TLC. Sanddollar delivered and completed the project on time and kept me up to date every step of the way. I live out of state and was anxious but Dave, his crew, and his wife Melissa, and even the boss dog Okra did a tremendous job. I am beyond happy and cannot wait to get back to Hilton Head to enjoy my lovely home.

Quality workmanship from all sub-contractors, most of whom have worked with Sanddollar for decades. Sanddollar was very responsive and timely throughout every phase of construction. As with any whole house construction there will be changes in the original architectural plans and estimates but there was always an eye for staying within budget and achieving the quality house we wanted. I would recommend without reservation.

In our opinion Dave Roberts, owner of Sanddollar Building and Remodeling is the top contractor on Hilton Head Island. He is very knowledgeable and skilled in his profession and very personable so it was very easy and enjoyable to work with him. He is a “hands on” owner/contractor- Dave was on the job every day and always available to answer any questions that we had or to make any adjustments or changes that were needed during the building process. He has excellent sub contractors who are also very skilled in their craft and show a respectful working relationship with Dave, making the whole re-construction project efficient and seamless. Dave Roberts builds an outstanding home for its beauty and quality of construction. We had a great experience working closely with him in 2013 to build our first home here on Hilton Head. He built a small model home for us to have that was helpful for planning. We love this home, but have wanted more of a long view and Dave has helped us determine our best options for that. He walked us through our next purchase, a remodel, and with his vision of what it could be, we decided to take the leap in these uncertain times and buy it. I am thrilled to report that the 2013 home we are currently in sold in 1 day, during the pandemic! Now that shows the quality of his product. We were introduced to Dave Roberts by an old friend Barry Bennett who was building a new home 2 doors down. We had received a grant to elevate our home but our builder fell through. Dave stepped in even though it was a small, complicated project. Dave was hands on. He visited the job site every day along with his side kick Okra.Okra is Dave's dog who loves the comaraderie of building almost as much as Dave. The guys he brought in to work on our home were reliable, thoughtful and hardworking, some have become lifelong friends. In any building project there are unforeseen issues, how they were handled was key. Dave has a creative mind that dealt with problems head on, immediately using innovative ideas before they could grow to cost precious time. The saying if you find what you love you'll never work a day in your life applies to Dave and it makes him a pleasure to work with. Dave was innovative when solving the problem of our siding that was no longer available. it was his idea to take the stucco up to the windows. It turned out to be a beautiful solution. Communication with Dave is easy, he listens and patiently explains when you don't understand. We would recommend Dave and Sanddollar Building and Remodeling to a friend. I am grateful to our friend Barry for recommending Dave. Dave really cares and will do a great job for you. You will also get to see his dog Okra every day!

We had an addition built to our existing house. I was worried about the inconvenience it would present to our day to day life, but we hardly even noticed construction was going on, even when they were inside our house. The work was done in a professional and timely manner, and we couldn’t be happier.

Sanddollar Construction helped us complete our home remodel this past summer with exceptional results from start to finish. Cant say enough great things about Dave Roberts and Sanddollar Building and Remodeling. Had a major fire in our rental house which needed to be totally rebuilt. I have used Dave Roberts for my personal residence and he is great. Sometimes the architects leave almost unsolvable problems, but Dave gets through them fast. He is very smart. I’ve referred him to over 20 customers from 1985 to the present (2018) and have many very satisfied clients. I’m a real estate broker and have never received a builders fee from him, as many builders expect. He will take time and present you with a beautiful home. My home was estimated in the million dollar range. Many of his homes run the gamut from inexpensive to quite a bit more than mine. He’s reasonable and very fair!

We had a great experience remodeling our home with Sanddollar building and remodeling. Dave Roberts was extremely hands on and creative in the design process of our remodel and helped maximize our space most effectively in ways that we had never even thought of. Dave quickly constructed a model which allowed us to visualize how our home would look following the construction. As second home owners, Dave was profoundly helpful in sending continuous progress checks and photo updates of the construction which made us feel confident in how the job was being carried out. Furthermore, Dave was extremely responsive with his emails and we never felt we were left waiting for a response or answers to questions. Finally, we were extremely impressed with how Dave managed to fully complete our remodel within the given deadline and the home was ready when we expected it to be.

Dave is an innovative thinker, and the consummate professional. Dave single-handedly designed and build my house on Hilton Head Island to Perfection and stayed on budget which is very unique to folks in that trade.
