My husband & I recently purchased a vacation residence in Chicago. We live out of state and were very nervous about managing the design process remotely. In addition, we had no familiarity with any Chicago based designers. After interviewing several designers, it was clear that Gemma and her team were the perfect choice! While it was the beautiful designs in Gemma’s portfolio that initially drew us to her, it was the expertise, process orientation, eye for detail, incredible talent, and efficiency of the GPD team that confirmed we made the right choice. From day one, Gemma had a solid plan of how we could complete this project remotely. We met in person only one time and I must tell you, The GPD team has such a solid process in place for every step from furniture layout to fabric selection to accessorizing that I never once felt being remote was a disadvantage. Gemma and her team handled every aspect of executing the design including communication with the building, vendor selection, contractor coordination, deliveries, etc. The process was virtually stress free. When there were any issues, Gemma came to us with the issue but also with a set of solutions and a plan to resolve. Gemma is honest, hard working and truly wants all of her clients to be delighted with the end product. Delighted would be an under statement for us – we absolutely LOVE the finished product. Every time we walk through the door, it makes us smile. Our only complaint….it is so amazing that we wish we could spend more time there!! We recently completed our first ever design project with Gemma Parker Design. Gemma and her team are extraordinary at their jobs. To begin, Gemma has an incredible eye for design and is a master at using color and texture to create beautiful and comfortable spaces. Beyond the beauty of the spaces she creates, she really listened to some specific requirements of our project, including designing for a young family that cares about durability in addition to style, a focus on design with resale in mind and our desire to make investments in pieces that could potentially transition with us to a larger home in the near future. She achieved these goals perfectly. Beyond her attention to detail and eye for design, where Gemma Parker Design stands out is in their client service. The entire team is a pleasure to interact with. They carefully attend to and respect the project budget and carefully account for all components of the project. They are effective at managing timelines, setting clear expectations at the project outset and consistently hitting or beating agreed timelines, even with all of the incredible supply chain challenges that everyone is experiencing. They are quick to highlight deviations in schedule or budget. Collectively, these client skills have meant that I genuinely trust Gemma and her team and have been able to relax and enjoy the transformation of our space. One further commendation -- our project was certainly smaller and more budget focused than many of the other stunning projects in the GPD portfolio and we never once felt that our project was less important to Gemma or her team. I recently completed a full interior design of my condo with Gemma (and Sam) and could not be happier with the results. My home looks amazing and the process of working with Gemma to get there was a pleasure. From our initial conversation, it was clear that Gemma was exceptionally organized and efficient in her approach. I have an extremely busy schedule and little patience for looking through dozens of choices for individual items or doing my own research. However, I do have very specific preferences of what I like versus not. Gemma was able to quickly translate my high level preferences and thoughts on design into fully formed discrete options for each room that I could choose between, with incremental adjustments from there. She is very creative when items don't quite fit and extremely thorough in researching alternatives. The communication was very clear and both Gemma and Sam were always timely in their responses. They also fully took care of all the little details to make the process of scheduling deliveries, installs, etc completely seamless. My home looks great, fits my aesthetic very well, and has many unique and distinctive elements. I give Gemma and team my highest recommendation.

Gemma and the GPD team recently finished a top to bottom project for my family and we have just hired her to start another top to bottom project at a second location. The previous reviewer Kristen was not exaggerating when she called out 3 ways GPD stands out: fastidious attention to details, ability to work on complicated projects without breaking a sweat, and attention to the needs of the client. In my case, she seamlessly overcame geographical challenges during Covid. She also had to accommodate my peculiar needs as a wheelchair user. Gemma and the GPD team have completed 3 projects for our family. Each time we work with them our expectations are always surpassed. The things that separate Gemma from other interior designers include 1. Her attention to detail is unparalleled- if something isn’t installed correctly or there’s a smudge in the paint she will find it and have it corrected immediately before you even see it. 2. She can work on extremely challenging projects while not breaking a sweat. For one of our projects we had a less than ideal general contractor to say the least- Gemma was able to work with him and get a beautiful result despite his inability to professionally communicate. 3. She understands what the client wants. Gemma doesn’t design for what she wants, she listens and designs for what we want. That was really important to me because I wanted the home to feel like us but also be beautiful and elevated. Gemma and her entire team have been so wonderful to work with and I will definitely work with them again!

After purchasing a condominium in Chicago, I hired Gemma Parker to completely redo my home, and the results were spectacular! Gemma has done amazing work thinking through the details of our home. We were building a new house and she really helped look at each room and share ideas on what each room could feel like when the house was only a frame!
