ONE DAY DESIGN

We contacted Mary to help with our open-concept living area renovation project, which included the entryway, powder room living room dining room and kitchen. We knew how we wanted the space to look and feel, and we wanted to have full control over the project. However, because our space is on the smaller side, we definitely needed some professional advice about layout, lighting, space use, and how to make everything tie in together. Mary was the perfect answer! During our initial call Mary listened and succinctly summarized our needs and wants. We decided to move forward with a Design Consultation and sent Mary links to our living room Pinterest board as well as a whole list of questions we wanted to work through during our consultation. Mary came to the meeting with printouts of Pinterest designs she thought would work best for our space and we worked through our list of questions. One of the most amazing aspects of our meeting was that Mary never tried to change our ideas, but took them to the next level and ensured that both my and my husband's needs were met and our ideas incorporated. Mary also gave us advice about what items we should splurge on and where we can save some money. At the end of our meeting Mary shared information about professionals and companies she has worked with in the past that have delivered great results. By the time we met with Mary we have already talked to a number of contractors and just didn't feel confident about any of them. In the end we signed with a contractor Mary recommended. We are so happy we found Mary. She is so knowledgeable, so great at listening to her clients' needs, and goes above and beyond with her services. We will definitely contact her again for our design needs!

Mary came in towards the end of a full house remodel to help pick up the pieces from a previous designer that wasn't working out for me. She rapidly helped me through the remaining choices needed for the contractor and then in a more leisurely fashion on furniture, art, and layout. She was very accommodating to my needs and working style and really helped finishing the house into something I'm thrilled with.

Mary was a pleasure to work with, bringing a keen eye, a wealth of experience and a personable approach to finding what works best in a space. We hired her for both an initial design consultation and again to support us in choosing interior colors and in both she helped us tremendously.

Our consultation with Mary was very productive. She gave us a fresh perspective and provided valuable suggestions. Her idea to move our laundry has freed up space in the kitchen that we desperately needed, and the new laundry location makes much more sense functionally too. We are extremely pleased!

We did the "designer by your side" option as a preliminary set of eyes for our remodel. We are setting up our own remodel/DIY, but were unsure about some of our ideas. She came to our home for a consultation and immediately identified problems in our plans and then how to solve them. I plan to use her again for a paint consultation and then with decorating when the remodel is complete.

Mary is gem. She is really good at what she does and she is also friendly and approachable. I highly recommend.

Mary was great to work with. The initial consultation showed us quickly that she would take a personalized approach and that she would do her best to help solve our design dilemmas - had great suggestions, recommendations and solid advice. She came prepared for the appointment in our home, tracked and addressed most of our needs in a way that was helpful. She was easy to work with. I wish we had asked for more specific help with exact measurements and space planning, but we know we'll reach out to her for any future design help.

Mary was wonderful to work with! I recently worked with Mary on enhancing my master bedroom. I had recently purchased some furniture but I really needed help on those finishing touches to complete the room. Mary helped me identify the colors scheme and design elements that complemented my current set up. With my new design boards that Mary made for me and the suggestions she provided, I now have the guidance I needed to bring the room together :)

I have a rental house in Brier that the long time renter moved out at the end of May 2023. Unfortunately I then noticed that the concrete floor slab in the entire kitchen and family rooms had settled several inches. My property manager told me the house was basically unrentable and unsellable with this problem. I arranged for the custom wood cabinets / appliances to be removed and salvaged, but the large countertop, backboard, plumbing fixtures and carpeting were destroyed. I then had the floor jacked up followed by leveling. At that point, I needed help both replacing what was destroyed and to update the house from a mid 80's look. I also live in the Portland area so I could not devote my time finding contractors, products, managing them and of course I have no background in interior design. My wife found me One Day Design. I arranged to meet Mary at the house, she listened, inspected the house, gave me some suggestions that sounded good, and then just a few days later provided a complete design folder with recommended luxury vinyl flooring brand/color,; quartz countertop/pattern/color, subway tile backing, recommended restaining color/product for the salvaged custom cabinets; new plumbing fixtures; new lighting fixtures for the hall & dining room; suggestion to use the rest of the cut quartz slab to replace the outdated countertops/sinks/fixtures at a separate bar area and adjoining 1st floor bathroom; new hardware, new paint colors for the walls in many rooms and get rid of ther outdated wallpaper everywhere. She helped me coordinate with the contractors and materials supplier, and also met with them at the house to make sure the work was being done per her design as well as get me a materials discount at a wholesale commercial mart. She caught that the subway tile provided by the wholesaler was the wrong type just before it was actually going to be installed that day. I also arranged for new Milgaard windows to complete the house transition. My property manager/realtor was amazed with the final product; said the 80's house was converted to a new modern house with esquisite style. Could have not achieved this without One Day Design. I would have built back by myself an 80's house exactly like it was before.

Our Living room is more Beautiful than I ever could have imagined! Mary's expertise in designing just the way I wanted is breathtaking. She has learned what we like and what we don't like. Each and every Design board she sends us to look at I have a hard time deciding because they are all so ME!! It is so great to see the room just how it would actually look on the design board before purchasing the items. She has also transformed our Family room, Kitchen and Dining room which are also up to date and Beautiful! I wouldn't have known where to even start. Friends tell us our home now looks like it belongs in a Home Design magazine!!

Mary was very professional. She asked the right questions and listened to what we were looking for (and our budget). She created a wonderful mid-century design that works for us, the space, and our lifestyle. We couldn't be happier with the results!!
