Aloe Designs

Aloe was a pleasure to work with, they worked collaboratively and efficiently to design and install a transformative back yard renovation. They did a great job managing the project, on a weekly basis they kept us fully informed of progress and delays as well as costs. We now have a wonderful space to grow food and enjoy summer dinners for years to come.

We cannot recommend Aloe highly enough! It was such a pleasure to work with this all star team! Everyone was kind, professional, wildly knowledgeable, creative and talented. From design to installation to project management we knew we were in expert hands the whole time and we are so happy with the finished product! Aloe took our ideas and our budget and completely transformed our outdoor space. We also learned a ton in the process; they graciously led us through each step and were unfazed by how many times I asked ridiculous questions about plants, hardscaping, etc. These are great people. We loved working with the team!

We were very disappointed in the whole experience with Aloe. We hired Aloe for a complete redesign of our backyard, pool and associated landscaping. We found from the start that the communication was poor, they didn't listen to our input and didn't follow through. Updates were usually at our request, often rescheduled, and we found they constantly pushed their vision of the backyard and didn't listen to what we were looking for. We needed help the most sourcing plants and materials but when we asked where to get the products we were told to talk to our landscapers and given very little direction. Again, we spent an inordinate amount of time on our own sourcing the products we had already paid Aloe to find. Furthermore, they spent considerable time sourcing tile and when we chose one of their recommendations it was out of stock. This happens, but they were so concerned about the hours spent that my wife and I then spent countless hours on our own sourcing a suitable replacement which we found and organized. We had similar challenges with the install team. Very little communication and when we sourced a hedge for our neighbors property at 10% of the price of Aloe's quote they quit on us. Probably a blessing in disguise but it was very unprofessional and delivered by email from a person we didn't know. There was no accountability for their own mistakes. We also had multiple people handling our file and found the competence level and accountability to be low with more focus on their billable hours than completing a project where their clients would be happy.

This is the second project we have done with Aloe. Several years ago they designed and installed our new deck and back patio area with an outdoor fireplace. The design has allowed us to extend our living area in the summer months. We always have complimantes from our guests how well the design flows from the house to the yard area. With this second design we asked the team to update the front and back yard areas, to make them a bit more low maintence while at the same time updating the design and making the back area into a 'flex' space for family to play ping pong or sit by the outdoor fire bowl. The entire process from design to install was professionsal and well organized. The team encouraged our input and worked within our budget to design and install beautiful spaces that checked all our boxes.

This is the 2nd project we have used Aloe on. Caitlin and team do a very thorough job on the design and we very much like their aesthetic.

ALOE was superb. We count ourselves very fortunate to have had their help not only in the design but also the installation of our front yard landscape. Caitlin & her team took the time to listen to what we hoped to achieve, and their design met all of our expectations. Owen was nose to the grindstone when it came to the installation. Although our house isn't new, it has been renovated, and we really wanted to create an outdoor garden/living space (as seen on many of the new architectural/modern homes) that would enhance the appeal from the street and welcome us home each day. We couldn't be happier with how it turned out and will certainly recommend them to our friends & family.

Working with aloe is a treat! From design through to execution they are extremely thoughtful, responsive and collaborative, all the while delivering on a great project which continues to bloom year after year. Couldn’t recommend them more.

From design to installation our experience with Aloe was a total pleasure. Our Aloe contact was Gwen, an extremely well organized and knowledgable project manager who we felt immediately comfortable with. Aloe has put a lot of thought into creating a streamlined design experience. Right from the start they responded quickly to all our emails. The questionnaire they sent us to gather info about what we wanted from our garden was very easy to fill out and payment was done online with a credit card. So easy! All of our questions from timeline to plant choices were answered with thoughtful and succinct feedback from Gwen. We so appreciated that she always did what she said...a rare thing these days and extremely valuable to all of us with busy lives. Her presentation of the Aloe garden design utilizing images from Houzz of the soft and hardscape really helped us envision what the design on paper would become in our space. We brought some of our own ideas to the initial meeting with Gwen and appreciated that she listened to them and incorporated and built upon some of those ideas. This made the process feel much more collaborative which meant a lot to us. Aloe also presented us with how to tackle the installation in stages so that it was financially possible for us to build our dream garden over time with them. I honestly can't say enough good things about this company, they are talented, organized and warm and we loved creating our outdoor space with them.

I have always enjoyed working with Aloe. They are good people and easy to work with, and always do a great job.

We live in the heart of Downtown Vancouver. Patio space is a rarity and when the patio is located on the 10th floor there are additional opportunities and challenges. When we first spoke to Aloe, they came over to cold concrete block flooring and wide open visibility from neighbors. Together we looked at what kind of an environment we wanted to live in. Within a few short weeks we had living plans and embarked on a ipe hardwood deck with a beautiful fence for privacy. Easy to care for plants and a lovely umbrella and furniture completed the project. Four years later the space is more beautiful than ever.

Our team always looks forward to working with Aloe on their landscape installation projects. Aloe is an organized team of professionals, who consistently produces progressive landscape ideas and designs. With everything almost finished we had to write a quick note to thank you and your whole team for doing such a fantastic job from vision through to implementation. Patti and I had to go on faith a lot and you did not disappoint. The palette of shades of green and judicious use of colour, the subtle topographical changes to the east side, the overall design, the great care taken with installation and the choice of plantings are all a testament to the high quality you aspire to and achieve. So, thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for this wonderful contribution to our home. We look forward to working with you to finish the bamboo and roof in the coming weeks and planning the garage roof for next year.
