We had our front and rear patio done by Big Town Contracting in 1998, yes 26 yrs ago and to date aside from a couple of off set patio stones close to my house which I think due to earth movements , the project is still very well intact. I wholeheartedly recommend their work.

Bigtown worked on my front walkway area and driveway. They did an excellent job. The team is terrific lead by Santo. Very approachable and communication was easy. However I have to give a shout out to Peter! He really was the lead of the project and worked extremely hard. He takes pride in his work and is very neat and meticulous. He aims for a perfect end result. I am very happy with the end result and highly recommend Big town.

Having the original everything 1950s bungalow can be a challenge. After a contractor booked and then canceled due to having to leave the country in peak season, finding a pro was very difficult. Domenic and his designer have bee professional and patient. Weather hasn't cooperated so pla ts will be put in the spring. New Lawn, garden dug out, new soil and gatden blicks with coupling installed. Looking forward to the spring.

My wife and I have lived in Etobicoke for over 35 years. A great deal of updates is needed on our driveway and landscape .Our professional relationship with Domenic of Big Town Contracting started from July/2022. What has impressed us was Wayne his draftsman did an excellent job on his beautiful design diagram on our NEW landscape/driveway .Not done by computer but real handwrawn colorful ot the scale "site improvement". To me our job is fairly big ( over 100K) and took 6 weeks to complete. I got a brand new about 2000Sq ft Uniloch driveway and a completely new landscape with new sod, about 200 new shrubs /plants put in. I got a TOTALLY brand new front yard. The workers are extremely on time, professional , well-manner and to the very detail .The stone guy named Peter is a top guy in stone laying work. He is very very precise to the inch and the gradient is perfedctly done. Meanwhile Domenic is very professional and responsible too on the job. He is very knowledgable and never misses any details . Overall I highly recommend this company to handle your Stone and Landscape job as I am extremely happy about the whole experience I just went through.

Domenic, Santo and their team did a beautiful job on our backyard, a project which included stonework, landscaping and overseeing the installation of our pavilion (Countrywide Gazebos). We started working with the team in October, 2021 after approaching 3 companies. Big Town came in at middle price. We went back and forth a few times until we achieved the perfect design. Our contract was signed in Dec. 2021. We had a bit of trouble with timing as we expected the project to kick off earlier in the summer of 2022 so we could take advantage of the space. Work started in the middle of August and finished mid October. Covid may have played into this. We were asked to top up the cost of the job to account for increased material costs. We had been hearing stories about this and felt it was a fair ask. The project was run very well with several reminders sent to keep us on schedule with stone and plant selection. Subcontractors brought in to do irrigation, electrical, carpentry, etc. were all on time. Thank you Big Town!! We’ve been enjoying our new backyard every day.

We approached Big Town for a complete tear down and rebuild of our backyard to make it more functional for our young family. From start to finish I was very impressed with Dominic's dedication and attention to detail for our project. This being the first major project as new homeowners, we were nervous and a bit overwhelmed to get things started; however, Dominic was incredibly patient and supportive as we embarked on this journey. We spent many hours over the phone and in person reviewing the plan and discussing options prior to starting. Big Town started this work in September, removing all of the overgrowth in the yard, levelling the ground for the new patio, pouring concrete and installing posts for the pergola and privacy screens, and finally finishing with fresh and clean plants for to complete the look. The project was completed in November. The team was very accomodating along the way, adding several changes in flight, including addition of a sprinkler system, natural gas line for BBQ and firepit, and also electrical throughout. Overall, I was always impressed with the teams friendliness, professionalism, attention to detail, and engagement in making sure we were satisfied with the look and finish of the yard. Santo was very approachable and kept me apprised of progress or possible barriers so I was aware of any changes to timeline. The patio work was incredibly solid - I'm amazed at the amount of gravel that was placed as the base to ensure nothing would shift after the work was completed. The team worked quickly but carefully to ensure a high quality product at the end. Thank you again to the Big Town team for the wonderful transformation of our backyard! It is like we have added another several hundred square feet of living space to our property and we are able to entertain large groups without issue. We look forward to making many new memories in our beautiful yard for years to come!

Had a patio built just recently. Domenic spent a considerable amount of time with us in January 2022 and we chose his company, although it was more expensive. He seemed authentic and honest. We were told it would be done in May or probably June, but we heard nothing until August. When we spoke to him about the project starting in 2 to 3 weeks, he said he would be charging us 15% more because their costs had gone up. We told him we couldn't afford that, and would have to cancel the project. At that point, he started talking about charging us an administrative fee but couldn't confirm the amount. He finally agreed to do it as per the initial agreement. When they came to start the project, we saw that they switched out one of the sets of stones but never told us. When asked, they said they were made aware in May, our requested stone wasn't available. Also unknown to us, they also switched the size of our stairs, and told us after the project was completed and wanted to charge us an additional cost. The overall quality of the workmanship was less than we expected (eg. poorly cut stairs). We felt that Domenic was intentionally deceptive and not forthcoming with necessary changes.

My most recent contract with Big Town Contracting involved the complete replacement of a front yard as well as the installation of a new sprinkler system. Included was the design, procurement and planting of trees, shrubs, perennials and new sod. The installers were courteous and professional and quickly fixed any problem. I had previously employed Big Town for the installation of a new stone patio and was well pleased with the result and reasonable cost. Therefore, I highly recommend Big Town Contracting for any type of landscaping project.

Domenic and his whole team were professionals through and through. From design to build, they delivered quality products and services. My backyard is not very large so it needed to be laid out to maximize the space while incorporating a covered seating area, a small dining table and a hot tub. Wayne provided several options for the design until we found the one that brought it all together. Jason, Santo, Peter and all the crew then got to work. They planned every step of the job perfectly in terms of organizing the activities and kept me informed throughout. With the cost of everything increasing at this time, Domenic worked with me to find the supplies to fit my budget without compromising my vision. I now have the backyard oasis I've been so looking forward to and will be enjoying it for many years to come.

Dominic and team were very responsive to make our back yard deck replacement and front yard native flower garden a reality. Our project came up mid summer and some of the plants struggled to take hold despite watering and caring constantly. We are relieved that Big Town stands by their plant guarantee and will review our garden in the spring and replace any that did not make it.

I have a small backyard and was unsure if the project would have been too small for Big Town to take on. It was not! Domenic responded to me immediately and walked me through the process of what to expect and asked for my vision of the backyard. In simplest terms, I wanted to watch outdoor movies in privacy! Wayne’s landscape design plan brought that to life and so much more. The scope of work included the installation of a wooden pergola, planting several trees, adding a stone step to a backdoor entrance and adding an electrical outlet to the backyard. While the space itself was small, it did require the coordination of multiple different work crews, which was done flawlessly. Domenic was upfront in managing my expectations about timelines and accessing materials (global lumber shortage!..) and prioritized work on the areas that were most important to me to enjoy right away (pergola). I appreciated this transparency. Each work crew was professional, punctual and maintained a tidy work space (John, Santo, Peter and their respective teams). They came prepared with the landscape design and knew my end goal was to watch movies. They answered any questions I had, or contacted me when they needed a decision on something. (The electrician Johnny was superb) There were some minor issues that needed to be addressed during the project, but Domenic ensured a swift remedy that I was pleased with. I have no hesitation in recommending Big Town, based on the quality of work and commitment to client satisfaction.

In 2019, we presented Big Town with several challenges. The sidewalk from the driveway to the front door was a safety hazard. The fence around the back yard offered no privacy or security. Our property has a four-foot slope, rendering much of it unusable. Big Town replaced the sidewalk. They put in a proper foundation with gravel and wire mesh and used concrete. They made sure the rise up to the porch was appropriate. They restored our flower garden and covered the sidewalk in stone to blend with the existing stone on our front porch. Big Town installed the tallest fence allowed by law. (They also made one panel removable because, by this time, we knew we were going to have them back to makeover our back yard.) The fence panels have horizontal rails, which gives the fence a Japanese-garden aesthetic. To address the slope in the property, we wanted a retaining wall so that the yard could be levelled. However, this was far too expensive. Big Town shifted the focus to the front of the house by adding steps from the sidewalk up to the front porch. The stone steps are embedded into the hitherto despised slope. They disguised the utility box in the yard with ornamental grasses and plants, incorporated some of our existing plants into the design, added lights, replaced the sod and installed sprinklers. They custom-fabricated a trellis. Our garden is now lovely to enjoy. Domenic, Santo and Wayne were wonderful to work with.

Communication was a very big thing with us and Domenic kept us appraised all the way through. He went the extra mile by having his crew wheelbarrow all of the soil and cedar mulch to the backyard. We had just recently had our driveway, side walkway, and back patio newly finished. We needed a new fence and he recommended a great company to do it. They tore down the old fence and had the new one up in less than 3 days. They were very professional. Domenic and his gardener met with us to talk about the type of plants that would work in our backyard. They considered our colour and plant preference and combined it with plants that would bloom at different times of the year so that the garden would look good all summer long. The plants are also guaranteed for 3 years. When the landscaping was finished we asked him about a sprinkler system, and he sent someone around to give us an estimate. We won’t be putting the sprinkler system in until the spring but he quoted us a good price. We would highly recommend Big Town Contracting Ltd. to anyone that is looking for a great landscaping company, and would use them again ourselves if necessary.

My family and I are very satisfied with our Big Town Contracting experience. From our first contact with the company and our initial meeting with the owner (Domenic Maiorano) and Landscape Designer (Wayne Renaud) through to the completion of both the hardscaping and landscaping, we could not have been more pleased with the care that was taken and the expertise that was given in the execution of our project. From the beginning, my wife and I were thoughtfully consulted in all decision-making for our the project. Domenic and Wayne guided our understanding of which low maintenance horticulture would best fit in the design ideas we had for our backyard patio and front porch steps. Domenic is a professional, who is extremely well organized and listens carefully to any concerns and patiently answers any questions you may have. He is easily accessible and will always return your call on the same day. We stayed on budget as well. Santo oversees the job and is just wonderful. He is easy to talk to and offers sound advice. Santo will always notify you if for some reason, like rain, the team is unable to come that day. Otherwise they are on time and work very hard throughout the day. He too will answer the phone, or call you back the same day. The team is simply incredible and have strong work ethics. They work with precision and are quite skilled. A few of the veneers on my porch that Big Town completed had problems two years after the work was completed - after the warranty period. I described the problem and Big Town attended promptly and fixed it. Good extra effort, thank you Big Town.

Best landscape design artists and installers ever! We had 2 issues to solve with our new house. First, to combat a water issue in our front lawn which flooded into our driveway all the time. And Second, to make the landscaping suit the house & our needs, which was that we love to sit out front & we wanted to attract hummingbirds & butterflies. What we got was a gorgeous landscape masterpiece that not only solved our water problem immediately but makes people slow down their car to stop and admire it when they drive by. Domenic and Santo, the owners at Big Town, are just the best of the best. We interviewed 5 companies for the job and they stood out from the rest even from the first interview with their professionalism, attention to detail, and the fact that they listened to our needs and what we liked. What they provided was not a cookie cutter solution at all, but a customized solution that went beyond what we had imagined. Wayne, their landscape designer is an artist. He heard what we liked, what our overall goal was, and produced drawings for us that are actually a hand-drawn and coloured work of art. We received two copies, thank goodness, so we could keep one pristine and frame it. Wayne is the creator of the magic plan. Domenic is the wizard behind the curtain that puts all the pieces together so it can happen. Santo is the maestro of the orchestra, who with his extremely talented team, brings the vision to life and makes music appear each time I look at my garden. Our front landscaping was truly transformational not just for our house but for our family. It created a space that we enjoy and use regularly. I bring out my morning tea and sit on my chair and just enjoy the view, while hummingbirds whizz by and enjoy the butterfly bushes. My husband takes his evening espresso out there and I just see him relax as he gazes out over our multi-tiered Unilock seating areas and lovely plants and trees. How did they do it? By meticulously laying everything out and planning it all before they laid the first stone. We were living in the property while the work was going on and using the back door, so we got to see daily the step by step work by Santo and his team. My husband is a perfectionist and loves to work with his hands and he was VERY impressed with the teams attention to detail. I will never have to worry about the Unilock platform buckling or the stones moving or the earth shifting as the preparation work into making sure everything was done properly and leveled and the weeping tile was in properly. Big Town worked with us on budget and took a pause whenever we had a course correction or an adjustment due to our changes or to an unforeseen issue. They worked with us every step of the way, within our budget, to get us to beyond what we thought was possible. The photos attached are from when it was first installed. I’ll add the ones from my camera later, but I am unfortunately limited to only four photos to show off our beautiful front yard. And the crew! Not only were they amazing in their work, they treated the project as if it was for their own home. Everything was done systematically, with tons of attention to the smallest detail. And they were extremely respectful to our family, our house, and the project. No empty water bottles left, no garbage left behind. They were dressed professionally, super friendly, and took a LOT of pride in the project which we can see every time we step into our front garden. It is now one year since our landscaping was finished by Big Town. It is even lovelier this year than last. Everything they said would happen did - the height the trees would grow, how the butterfly bushes would fill out, how the hydrangea would flower all summer and the leaves turn to a deep velvety burgundy in the fall to add colour. And we have enjoyed the recommendation to put in lighting and a professionally installed watering system, very much. Everything gets backlit at night, but in a gentle unobtrusive way. And the watering is a lifesaver as we can set it and forget it. Each day I am in my garden created by Big Town, nestled in their lovely stone landscaping, I am awakened to something new to see and experience. Words cannot adequately express how much we are enjoying the end result. And how much we can’t wait for them to come back in a few years to do our backyard project! We hired Big Town initially to provide a better drainage system for water collection in our window wells and potential flooding and general landscaping. Once we met with them, we expanded our scope to include sidewalks, irrigation system, lighting, etc... the project became larger but Big Town easily accommodated our changes. The project took longer than initially planned, mainly due to weather and our changes, however, Big Town arrived every day until the project was finished and kept open lines of communication and excellent followup. They were a pleasure to work with!

Domenic, I just have to say again, I am blown away by the plans that Wayne drew. Its pure art on its own. He really did incorporate exactly what I envisioned and grasped who I am. It's incredible. I look forward to working with both of you making the art work a reality.

The crew was very professional and even though there was a delay caused by rain, all the planting was completed on time. I was very happy with Wayne's design especially the transplanting of the day lilies through out the flowerbed; was also very pleased with the colour combination of the various plants. Patiently waiting for the all perennials to get established.Excellent Job!!

The whole family is glad and satisfied with the front yard landscaping project done by the Big Town crew. Everything went well starting from the negotiating phase, getting a detailed quote, ending with meeting the expected date of getting the job completed. What is a significant feature about the Big Town team is that they do not mind making minor changes during the project if such changes make the final design looks better. Communication is another amazing feature that made me choose them among other six contractors.

Domenic, Santo and the crew did an amazing job for our front and back yard renovation. They were very professional and had excellent craftsmanship. The guys were always willing to help. Domenic even spend hours with us in the nursery because we were unsure of the plant selection. We have no complains at all about the job, definitely worth the price. I highly recommend Big Town to everyone and definitely will hire the team again in the future.

We hired Big Town Contracting in August of last year to completely redo our backyard. It involved coming up with a design that pleased both the budget and the eye, digging out everything, and installing plants, interlock and other soft landscaping. During the planning process, I found Domenic to be extremely initiative-orientated and he was extremely diligent in following up with answers to questions and returning calls. This is true even today. The designing process with their designer, Wayne, was a lot of fun. The designs were worth the extra fee we were charged for it, but in the end, the design ended up costing WAY over our initial budget. I daresay many other contractors could have finished the job according to the design in about 1/2- 2/3s the price. Even so, we agreed to the price proposed by Big Town because of the reputation and the professionalism displayed by the entire team. During the process of construction in the backyard, the men came and worked from 7 am- 1 pm, and when they left, they left everything in a very neat and tidy manner. Any queries or questions were handled by either Domenic directly or Santo, their contractor. Our backyard backs up to an undeveloped school field, which was expected to be developed that same year. Also, we had requested French drains built around our property, to get rid of all the excess water coming into our backyard. The process finished smoothly and we did not face much problems that year. Though the 2-3 times that Domenic and Santo came to visit our backyard last year after completion, both exclaimed how heavy and boggy the soil in the beds was, and how it was so squishy with moisture. At the time I should have wondered, "He is supposed to have changed this clayey soil to the good quality triple mix, then why is he complaining about it?" In the fall of the same year, I decided to plant some fall perennials in the flower beds, that had been left empty for me to fill, and I noticed the ungodly amount of clay that was still a part of my flower beds. Not being very knowledgeable about the matter, I did not talk about it with Domenic, and simply amended the soil in my beds with Garden soil/Triple mix, before planting some tulips, roses and lavender. But I noticed how much clay the beds contained, how heavy and boggy the clay was, and how it stank of sulphur. Come spring 2017, and we had the torrential rains in our part of the GTA. The poor grading of the undeveloped field at the back led to a lot of water flowing into our backyard and flooding our plants, planted by both Big Town and me personally. There was also a lot of water pooling on our interlock and moss started creeping up along the grout lines and the walls. I also noticed the grout between the interlock coming out and bleeding away. After some following up with Domenic, they did turn up to fix the water pooling on the interlock, though it was with so much talk about what an expensive task it is to pull the men from another "paying job" to fix this one. It seemed more of a burden than a responsibility to Big Town, or at least that's what I gathered from our conversations about how I should realize how much it costs him to send men to fix the interlock. Upon my questioning the poor health of most of the trees planted by Big town, and some of the plants, I was told that it is because of the water flooding my property from the field in the back and they should come back. In particular, they were extremely positive about an evergreen, and a Satomi Dogwood coming back. During an altercation regarding a referral, Domenic assured me that he would not run away from the responsibility for the plants, as we had a one year warranty on them, so we left the matter to be. However, when it came down replacing the plants, he blamed the water flooding from the back field as the sole reason for why 8-9 plants and 3 expensive trees died (Santo being very sure about positive results about 2 of them). I tried to reason with him, that flooding could be part of the reason, but if the plants had good soil (instead of being bogged down in Clay), they would have survived as all of the plants where I had amended the soil myself, had survived. Domenic and Santo both vehemently denied this logic and said that the plants would have died anyway, and predicted that mine will die too. Domenic argued that the reason the soil in the beds looks like clay is because of the sand and the compost, that is part of the triple mix, bled away with the water that flooded the backyard, and clay being heavy, remained. I tried to reason with him that the parts where I amended the soil, did not behave like this, but he did not take responsibility for the plants, and told me instead that he would install them "at cost", meaning, I will still have to pay the cost of the plant, labour, material and transportation, while Big Town doesn't pay for anything. I was not at all happy with the situation and decided to not have further communication with him regarding this or any future plans. My suspicion is that during the building of the beds, Triple mix or any such equivalent was never used to replace the clay that was initially in our backyard. Either partly, or fully, the beds were just filled back with the old soil, which is what I saw last fall when I was planting my perennials. The soil didn't bleed away with the water if there was clay in the beds as early as 10 days after Big Town finished work. Domenic and Santo had themselves exclaimed how boggy the soil is, when they had come after completion, last fall. But this is just a suspicion. Even the mulch that was added - we were re assured that the amount of mulch they provided will be enough for 2-3 years, however not even a year later, the mulch has already decomposed and looks nothing so much like rotting wood chips - a situation not helped by the water problem. My opinion is that I should have kept a better eye on things or hired someone less "reputed" but more upright. I was not watching like a hawk during every step of the process and it could not have been difficult to fill the soil back with clay instead of Triple Mix. The grading problem at the back is fixed now but the French drains around the flower beds sit uselessly as the water doesn't drain into them, instead just sits in the beds wherever I left it untouched. The places where I amended the soil drain much better than any professional work done by Big Town. Anyhow, a lot of my plants and almost all of the trees they planted are dead, and I have hired another landscaper to fix all the issues left by Big Town. All in all, it was a bad situation, made worse by poor soil quality in the beds built by Big Town Contracting. The situation could have been helped in under couple hundred dollars by simply amending the soil but Big Town is not ready to do it as part of a warranty in their contract, so I shall just do it myself. My backyard looks very beautiful when viewed from afar, but one look at the condition of the flower beds with water sitting in the beds and plants dead, makes me rethink my opinion.

Excellent job in time with no complains. Price is reasonable and quality of workmanship is good. We are happy and would not hesitate to recommend the service of Big Town Contracting to whoever may need it.

I was very pleased with the work I received from Big Town in our front and backyard. The work is high quality, the workers were very professional, and they worked within our budget. I hired Big Town to ensure my backyard and interlock would be quality so I would not have to repair it. To date all the rocks and interlock installed have not needed repairs and I am beyond 10 years. That's Quality!

Big Town Contracting was retained to build an outdoor entertainment area for our back yard that included a wood burning fireplace, an outdoor fire place and a swim spa. The space that this company created is absolutely spectacular. The workmanship and professionalism of Big Town is exceptional.

We wanted to do an interlocking front yard and back yard with a garden for planting. Big Town Contracting was more expensive compared to the 5 contractors we have spoken too. Our backyard in the middle, where the two houses meet, gets a spool of water when it rains. Big Town Contracting was the only company that was ready to tackle the problem by suggesting to install a weeping tile. On top of the weeping tile, drainage stone. They finish the job in 6.5 days. As for our garden, we wanted wood to surround the soil. Big Town Contracting suggested that wood maybe cheaper but will rot in the future. This is true, since my parent's house have wood for their planting and it rotted. Stone is expensive but will last forever. After the project was complete, a realtor just happen to pass by and asked whether we wanted to put our house on the market.

Big Town Construction created a stone patio for me in 2012. It is about 20 by 30 feet and includes a walkout surround from the basement as well as a flower bed. The work was completed on time (2 weeks) and on budget. Any questions or changes were dealt with promptly and to my and the company's satisfaction. Neigbours were impressed by the finished product and the manner in which the workers attended to the project, including the timely cleanup. I would definitely recommend this company, and would use them again for a similar project.

Had our front walkway/porch entry done with interlocking. From choosing the brick to planning the design Dominic Maiorano was professional interested and confident that his company would be able to satisfy our requirements....which they did. Our project was done many years ago and the walkway/porch entryway planter box has not crumbled nor has there been much shifting or sinking.
