South Bay Design and Landscaping has been extremely professional and fantastic! We had plans drawn up for our backyard and shared the plans with them ahead of time. When they visited onsite for a quote, we were impressed with the level of detail in which they studied the plans, came to us with clarifying questions, and provided practical suggestions. We promptly signed up with them after a satisfying in-depth conversation about how they were going to tackle each part of our project. The project took a bit of time to get started (pending completion of their other projects), but once it did the crew knocked it out efficiently and finished ahead of schedule - in the midst of heatwave too. Props to them! The site superintendent Danny checked in with us every day before the start of the day to ensure that we were satisfied with the work done in the previous day and also confirm the work to be completed that day. We were pleased with their commitment to quality. When small adjustments or repairs were needed, they noticed and fixed the issues before we even had a chance to tell them. The team managers (Marcus and Matt) have been very communicative and responsible: always promptly responding to our messages. We can not be more happy with our choice to go with South Bay Design and Landscaping and would highly recommend their service to anyone in need of a yard refresh.

The biggest part of a project is the contractor and the people that will be working on your house. South Bay was referred to use by our designer and she wasn't wrong. South Bay's bid and estimates were reasonable and accurate. They never added "hidden fees" or gotchas after the work started. We were the only people to add additional things and again South Bay was reasonable and upfront about the cost. Each time they finished a part of the project, we would receive an invoice and how much we owed but only for the work that they had done. Danny, the foreman, was here all the time and he was always willing to change something if it didn't work or make sense. He was helpful with suggestions but he never pressured us. We knew going into the project that South Bay couldn't do everything but they referred us to a couple of other contractors that were great as well. South Bay was flexible when we had some items delayed and was back working when the items arrived. A couple of things that I know now that might help others. South Bay works multiple projects and your project is not the only one. We had to wait for them to do some work because they had other customers and having talked to some other people, we realized that it was normal. Also, trust the process. At first things might not look right but give them time, it will look right in the end. We have joked and already started thinking about doing our front yard and we will definitely talk to South Bay about it when we are ready. Matt and the whole team are great, reasonably priced, friendly, and their work is top notch. You aren't in business for 16 years if you aren't good.

We hired South Bay Design and Landscaping for a significant front and back yard transformation in late 2023. Working with Matt, Marcus, Danny, and team was an absolute pleasure. While we changed the elements of the plan a few times, they were very accommodating and were clear on how that effected the budget. They communicated with us frequently and were available to answer all our questions both before and during the project. You can tell they really care about the quality of their work and customer satisfaction. We are thrilled with how our yard turned out and look forward to enjoying it for years to come.

This is a very professional and highly regarded company to do your landscape or hardscape job. They did a big job for us with a newly landscaped backyard with low water planting and design and rebuilt a staircase which is solid as a rock and a work of art. Highly recommend

My landscape designer recommended SouthBay for the landscaping work required for an almost total redesign of my yard. They were fantastic! They had a whole crew of people to do the demolition, hardscape installation, and extensive planting in my front and back yards. They kept the plan right on schedule and answered any questions I had. They are also very nice people and did a thorough walk-through at the end. I highly recommend SouthBay and will be using them for my maintenance as well.

We have lived in the same home for more than 50 years. In that period, we have landscaped and re-landscaped our front back and side yards many times. We have been fortunate to have always dealt with good contractors every time. But South Bay has been by far the very best. We transitioned from five lawn areas to more of a dry scape. 1. Reasonable bid. 2. Excellent scheduling. Started when promised and finished when projected. 3. Very fair when the inevitable "extras" came up. 4. Every aspect of the job was shown to me-from soil amendments to gopher baskets to mulch to layout of drip system. 5. I interacted primarily with Daniel and Jose. Both excellent men. Samuel was also very helpful towards end of project.

We worked with South Bay on our front and back yard overhaul. The team was a fantastic partner through the journey. Early on, they were great at helping us navigate pricing and design alternatives. As we got into the project, we kept making tweaks and adding scope to a ridiculous level. Even so, Matt, Marcus, Danny and Lynze were always collaborative and creative in coming up with solutions. Danny was especially great at explaining how some planting plans on paper should be tweaked, why, and how to get the best for certain tricky lighting situations in the yard. Even when we gave fairly picky feedback on some masonry work, instead of negotiation, it was great to get a "gosh, yeah, that should be done right, this should be perfect." End to end, this was a great experience. The end result is vastly better because of the positive back and forth the team enabled, and we couldn't be happier.

SouthBay Design & Landscaping took on our entire landscape project with professionalism, knowledge and efficiency.They transformed our front and back yards into lovely areas of tranquility and beauty. The crew had comprehensive knowledge of the plants, the hardscape and the intricacies of irrigation and lighting. They redid our asphalt driveway and back yard stepping stones with beautiful antique brick pavers which add tremendously to the design of the yard. The crew were polite and friendly and answered all our questions with patience and knowledge. Matt and Marcus oversaw the project and made all the many parts come together seamlessly. We first used SouthBay Design and Landscaping 15 years ago on a complete remodel of our backyard. Over the years we’ve brought them back in for small touch up jobs and they’ve always done a great job. We just had them come back in and replace the grass with turf as well as put in some additional plants, refresh the bark and stain some planters. Another great job by Matt, Danny and the team.

We had a great experience working with South Bay on the design and major renovation of our front yard. The project included a complete teardown (trees included), all new plants and trees, irrigation, lighting, two patches of artificial turf, field stone dry stacked walls, tiling of the porch, a paver driveway and a tricky curved paver walkway with two pilasters at the street. Matt, Danny, and Marcus were easy to work with and handled all of our requests with professionalism. The crew worked diligently through the heavy rains of December and January. The entire crew was very courteous and approachable. Everything was cleaned up at the end of each day. Once the project was complete, South Bay gave us a walkthrough and showed us how everything worked. What was once a rundown front yard is now a beautiful front yard. We used South Bay Design and Landscaping for a pretty major overhaul of our front yard and complete replanting of our backyard. We had a landscape architect draw up the plans and asked her to make suggestions for contractors to do the work. We chose South Bay because they were very responsive to our request for a quote (some others took up to several weeks before we got a quote) and the impression that Matt made on us when we first met. Once the job was underway, they did not waste any time in getting the job done, despite being delayed along the way by a very, very wet winter. Matt was very easy to work with and very professional. Marcus was almost constantly present in case we had any questions, and was very accommodating. In fact, the one thing that stood out was their ability to adapt to a few non-trivial additions to the original contract. Their reasoning was that they wanted us to be happy with the outcome, despite any inconvenience to them. The workers were very professional and very good at their crafts. The result is a stunning realization of the architect's vision. We are very happy with our new yard, and really appreciate the experience we had with South Bay.

I highly recommend SouthBay as a landscape contractor. I had my backyard landscaped years ago, and wanted to update about 1/2 of the yard while leaving the other half as is. I worked with a professional designer to create the plans and she referred me to Matt of SouthBay. He and his crew did a great job, listened when I had questions, and worked with me when I had changes or additions. They worked hard to complete the job on budget and on schedule, even working some Saturdays when needed. His crew was experienced and always friendly. When the project was completed and we had the final walkthrough, there were only 2 minor issues which were addressed right away. Overall I was very satisfied - I’m now using SouthBay for my weekly maintenance.

It was a blast to work with Matt, Marcus and the South Bay team. Our project involved new pavers everywhere, planters, retaining walls, sitting area, and a little zen garden corner. SouthBay Design and Landscaping completed a full backyard renovation in one week for us! Our yard is large and the renovation included complete demo, new lawns, building two permanent structures, new irrigation throughout, lighting throughout and all new plants and construction of a brand new vegetable garden. There were about a dozen guys here every day and Marcus, Danny and crew were busy every minute of that week to get the job done. We were absolutely blown away by the quality and speed with which they were able to accomplish this size job. Pricing is not cheap, but competitive and the result was worth it. We bid out to other recommended landscape companies who were in the same ballpark pricing wise, but wanted more than six weeks to get it done. Highly, highly recommend Matt and his company for landscape construction.

Great crew. They were friendly throughout and engaged in almost daily conversations about the work and any modifications we requested. At the start of the project, Matt set expectations for noise level, hours and any disruptions to us or the neighbors. The crew was usually early but kept to quiet activity until the official start time and stopped all noisy activity on time. Their execution was truly impressive, tearing up our front and back lawn, cutting and installing stone, including a beautifully laid out patio and grill surface. They installed electrical work for path lighting and irrigation to both lawns and to the three new planters that they built and installed. And, finally they planted a drought-friendly garden (designed by Dawn Engel) and then put down mulch. Like all projects, minor changes or challenges would show up and they had good discussions with us and kept the project moving forward and completed it early.

I hired Matt and his team to build off of plans put together by our landscape designer. My wife and I couldn't be happier with the end result. Our home was an eyesore, and SouthBay played the most critical role in transforming the exterior. Not only is their worksmanship top notch, the team shows up early, works quickly, cleans up at the end of everyday, and is receptive to the owner's needs. Additionally, I needed to get other non-landscaping projects done during two different points of the project, and Matt was extremely flexible in making sure to schedule in enough time for me to get those jobs done as well. Once I would finish those jobs, his team was back on-site within a week or so to continue working on my project. Overall, I would highly recommend Matt and the SouthBay team. They manage large projects without a sweat, get things done on time, and with great precision. Also, Matt was just fun to work with.

We hired south bay landscaping for our backyard renovation in nov 2020. It was a big project and we were nervous if it would turn out the way we envisioned but south bay did an excellent job to convert the design by Taproot design into reality. They first provided a very detailed quote which helped us understand exactly what would be needed and the stages involved with each.Their crew was very professional, meticulous and thorough.They met the timeline they committed to which is very rare to see with landscaping work. We have recommended south bay landscaping to our friends and will continue to do so. Danny, Marcus, Matt and crew very professional and easy to work with. We have also hired them now for our yard maintenance work and Samuel is doing a great job with it as well.

After removed 2 dead trees for our backyard, we needed to do a major overhaul of our backyard to make it for functional. Kim Leichner designed the plan and I talked to multiple contractors to implement the design. I finally went with Southbay Landscaping and am extremely glad I did, for the following reasons- 1. The quote they provided was truly detailed and explained the materials that would be used, irrigation setup etc (many contractors glossed over details). The quote was also competitive. 2. Matt, the owner was onsite overseeing the work on a regular basis. Danny, the foreman, was also very involved and always listened to my feedback. 3. The crew was hard working, professional and efficient. 4. They were able to accommodate building a pergola kit from Costco (not many contractors do this) 5. I was also able to sign up for their weekly landscape maintenance service and I really like the professionalism of these guys! Overall, very happy with the way my yard turned out!

I had every single thing in my front yard redone - including the driveway. I got a new paver driveway, walkway, and drought tolerant plants and mulch. If you want quality work and attention to detail, go with these guys. The workers are very friendly too! I felt bad for them sweating out there every day in the heat. But anyway, I even saw someone take a picture of my driveway pavers when completed! I've gotten so many complements. The only downside is they are working on more than one project at a time, so if you're not in a hurry, go with them. If I ever redo my backyard, I'll use them again! SouthBay Design and Landscaping did an amazing job as we redid our entire front yard. They did a fantastic job with hardscaping and landscaping. For the hardscaping we did a paver driveway along with walkways that turned out perfect. We also redid our front porch with bluestone. Finally we did a dry creek bed that turned our really nice. They did a great job with the masonry and helped with outstanding ideas as the project went on. On the landscaping everything turned out really beautiful with the flowers and lawn and it blends end nicely with the hardscaping. I would hire them again and highly recommend them.

We recently had Southbay Design and Landscaping renovate our entire yard. The job involved a lot of hardscape (driveway, walkways, porches, and patio areas) as well as a lot of landscaping (shrubs, trees, ground-cover, lawn, raised beds, retaining walls, berms, and gravel paths). We were provided a very detailed estimate of the work in advance, and Matt and his team were attentive to our requests and concerns throughout the project. Danny and his team were incredible with respect to their quality and attention to detail on their installation and construction work. We then decided to use Southbay for ongoing landscape maintenance and have been very pleased with the attention that they are giving to our beautiful new yard.

Southbay Design & Landscaping redid our backyard over 4 years ago, and have been maintaining it ever since. They are very responsive to any requests we have and are thorough in the maintenance of our yard. I appreciate that they will plant new plants for us if we pick them up and have given advice on what kind of plants work around our yard. They even help out by fixing our sprinklers without us asking (we actually hadn’t realized it was broken but were suspicious of why the grass wasn’t growing well in one spot).
