Frame it with cedar and use screen panels and a swing door.

@millworkman Thanks, we try to put a permanent screen there since the porch space is not very large and having a screen there permanently will somewhat block the light

No. When I've done this, I've sewn it myself. Mosquito netting fabric is easy to find (I think JoAnn Fabric has some) and I've always had a sewing machine. I did have to sew a chain on the bottom by hand. I put a fabric header and footer on, the header to have a stronger material to slide open and shut on the string. The footer for weight, but I had to add a chain so a light breeze didn't blow the netting open. You also want the netting to be maybe twice the width of the opening, so you have folds. It just works better.

I did this on a big door in a house I moved out of a number of years ago. It was a rental, so I didn't want to invest in screening. I put two hooks discretely in the door frame, strung a string to hang the netting. It worked quite well.

Look on Amazon. I bought some a few years ago for a large sliding door. It had velcro stickers you put along the top and attach the screen to it. They give you velcro to attach to the sides to make it tight. You can walk through it and it snaps back after you go through as it has magnets along the edges.

I'm not describing it well but it works. I didn't buy it on Amazon, probably a camping place like LLBean but I don't remember.

We used it for years and I'm guessing Amazon probably sells it.

Sigrid's idea sounds great. There are outdoor curtains around these days, but not sure about insect screens. It might pay to check out outdoor and camping places or a external blind manufacturer might be able to custom make it from  Sigrids description.

It would be more costly than mosquito netting but I'd probably look into something like these:

Since it is one open side it is inexpensive to frame it and with screened windows and a door. I did mine like that 3 years ago and the contractor used a new kind of black screen that is more durable than the old ones. Will try to show a picture of my screened porch.
